I agree. I was thinking the about this the other day. Beasley is going to be a key part of our offense. He will get more catches then Kelvin Martin because teams are passing more these days, but I think you need to be careful how much you use him. Beasley has carved out an excellent niche as a safety valve for a QB and is very good at moving the chains 6 to 12 yards out. Although at least so far, he is not a threat down the field. While converting on third downs is a great skill to have, I just think you need to be careful overusing him. As you mention Witten is also very good at this but he too is not a down field threat.

I also have to assume Beasley is also a negative on run blocking. I hope Beasley has an excellent season and I expect he will get a lot of snaps. I just hope we don't fall into that trap of thinking he is more important than he is.
This is why they are so good between the 20's. Throw short passes to Witten and Beasley, knowing they won't beat you. When they get in the red zone, they can't punch it in and settle for field goals. Playing not to lose, that's Garret's strategy, he's not trying to win. I'm glad the Dallas media is finally writing about it, I hope it continues. We have noticed how Garrett's offense takes Dez out of the game by design and been saying it for a long time.

I think the one thing that makes it so easy is the defense knows what the route call will be based on what coverage they show. Show a Dallas WR inside tech and they are taught to run a go or a stop and go. Show them off coverage and you'll get a comeback. Its a chess match that Dallas really isn't playing because they are happy to take what the defense shows them.

Show Dez inside tech with out a safety over the top and you'll get a go / fade which is what they tried a lot on Sunday. Put a safety over him and you'll get a check down to Beasly/Witten.

Looks like it. Complain about an "obvious" problem and offer no solution. Textbook.

Actually, the solution is so simple that many people don't feel it's necessary to repeat it over and over. The problem is that the one person who can
do something about it apparently doesn't have a clue.

I think people manufacture problems and dont suggest what should be changed. Im not sure garrett cares who is getting yards when the rookie qb is successfully moving the offense down the field. I dont imaging he plays fantasy football so he has no need to dusrupt the rookie to force the ball to dez.

Basically. People just whine for no reason.

I bet Jerry Jones is whining "why did I pay 70 million if we are only going to get 1 catch for 8 yards!?!"

How many of you guys were fortunate enough to watch Michael Irvin play? When teams knew we were going to him, they couldn't stop him. I agree that the coaches do not put Dez in favorable situations to succeed, but Dez does nothing to help himself either. Give me a Michael Irvin over this crybaby Dez any day.....

Absolutely loved watching Michael Irvin play.

If they were going to rotate safeties to keep them fresh, maybe they should have looked at upgrading Wilcox in the offseason?

I just don't understand rotating Jones out as much as they do. Even if Jones is overrated, he's still better than Wilcox and Church.
He took a terrible angle on the long pass to OBJ.

I doubt it. The season is 16 games long.

Yeah, I guessed you would, Craig, I guessed you would.

One game down, 15 to go and we are already 2 games behind the Giants due to the head to head tiebreaker.
How far into the season do we get before you start thinking these games are important?

So are you talking about the outcome of the game now? No more fantasy football? Thats worth talking about. What about the real game do you want to talk about? Red zone? Holding penalties screwing over the rookie qb? Dropped passes? Lack of pass rush? Inability to use common sense and get out of bounds? Rookie rb with no patience?

Those things affected the outcome of the game. Throwing to open receivers because the opposition took away bryant didnt hurt dallas.

So you think that Dez catching 1 pass for 8 yards is manufactured problem? Your not going to be successful feeding Beasley and witten all day long because that's what the defense wants you to do, they don't want to give up the explosive plays on the outside.

I'm just a fan, but why not sit Cole Beasley down on occasion, put Terrance on one side, Butler on the other, and Dez in the slot? It would give Dak a bigger target across the middle and give Dez a chance to pile up yardage after the catch.

NOT designing new plays and/or not making halftime adjustments..

Is JG just being stubborn, or is he incapable of doing these things?

What do you mean? We made halftime adjustments. We went away from the run and balanced offense of the first half to a pass, pass, pass second half.

I don't recall ever discussing fantasy football in this forum... ever.

Opponents easily taking out Dez Bryant is the topic of this thread. A.J. Green caught 12 for 180 yards against the Jets on Sunday with Revis Island in that secondary. Antonio Brown was all over the field against the 'Skins. I think its fair to question how Dez is used in this offense given his salary. Otherwise, we could've used that money to help our swiss cheese defense.
I'm sure he'll have some big games this year but consistency is an issue.

Game discussion should probably be in a thread of its own. But I'll hit some points you mention.
Red Zone - have to score TDs. This defense needs to play with a lead of more than 1 to 3 points.
Dropped passes - three plays that killed us... The overthrown pass to Bease on the 1st drive ultimately cost us. we never really over came that imo. It was our best chance
to score a TD of the drives that ended in FGs... The endzone pass deep to Dez. If the Rook just puts it to the rear pylon, Dez catches it. He did well to prevent the int...
The "other" non catch by Dez... regardless of opinion, this is where Dez drives me crazy. If he'd just catch the ball and grip it with both hands, we wouldn't have any questionable calls
regarding catch or no catch.
Lack of Pass Rush - We basically made our bed here. Things will get a little better when DLaw gets back but Dallas chose not to make any moves after knowing about the
suspension situation.
Out of Bounds - While watching the Thursday game, it was nice to see Carolina TE, Greg Olsen, make an intelligent play by knowing to lunge out of bounds to stop the clock.
This, after pleading with an official and actually getting them to reverse a call. There's a guy that's got his head in the game. Why doesn't everyone play that way? I don't know.
It seems like we have a lot of dumb players and that falls back to coaching.
Rookie RB - Agreed. No patience. He also saw 8 in the box almost every run. You know, Walter Payton's first game stat line read 8 carries for 0 yards so we'll see what happens next week with Zeke.

I'm a die-hard cowboys fan, and admittedly don't watch all that many other games. However, I do see alot of highlights where it seems all the other teams get wide receivers more open. By that I mean it seems our receivers are always covered fairly well and you rarely if ever see them catch a pass with a couple of steps on the dbs. It seems like it's been this way for years. I'm not sure if it's play-calling, lack of speed and separation ability, or something else, but do you guys notice the same thing - our guys never seem to get as wide open as other receivers?
Timing based offense - easy to defend in the NFL
