The fact that Garrett recognized Martellus Bennett was an ******* who needed to grow up is a point in Garrett's favor and not the opposite.

Let that idiot give interviews about living in Jupiter and go on YouTube doing whatever in his Cowboys helmet. He's a troublemaker whose game isn't as big as his mouth.

also I find it hysterical that espn is so interested and open minded to Bennett because I remember like yesterday when he would say things like I am the greatest tight end to ever play or when he did the negro Olympics they went nuts on him. He caused a sideshow that was not good for a team and especially this one which espn preys on for attention.

now all of a sudden its deep thoughts with Martellus Bennett and anything he says is gospel. Ridiculous. If he were still in Dallas and said this about a player of Witten's caliber and witten was a Giant or Packer they would be killing him.

Its all pretty funny to me.

i totally get you. NE is having problems with him too.

An ******* is an *******, whether he's catching tds or not.

Let's just see how his stint in NE goes. I remember being on this side of the debate when he was in NY, too.

Did anyone complain that Dallas catered to Irvin? Why not?

They did. But the difference is that Irvin was a team guy where Bennett is me-first.

Irvin also didn't wear out a welcome on three NFL teams despite his significant talent.

most fans dont care wht a player does, as long as he does their job and they can high five their friends and brag about it. If Dallas even clung to their own words "we only want the right kind of guys" this board than should accept who we draft regardless of their talent because we want to practice what we preach, correct?

So are you comparing Irvins work ethic to Bennets because you can cater to a lot of things if the work ethic is what it is supposed to be. Comparing that fart to Irvin is unexcusable!

Ok there was No way Dallas was letting Irvin walk, lets be real, and regardless of cocaine busts, that man was going to play Sunday if the team had to pay to get him to the stadium. Or , should we practice what we preach and cut ties with Irvin for the drug use?

im comparing an immature player to a player doing drugs, lets not forget what was and act like all is forgiven because he scored touch downs.

Just wanted to add these videos today. Today is the day apparently the Bennett piece will air where he says he hates Jason Witten. ESPN is already saying maybe witten was wrong. Bunch of clowns.

Well if anyone remembers Bennett was a clown and clinged to Owens right away. The click was Owens, hurd, choice and Bennett. Hurd and Bennett had a t shirt business together and were always doing crazy stuff.

Jason Witten is an extremely serious guy and probably wanted no part of his nonsense although he has never said a bad word about Bennett. Listen to Witten's interview here from march of 2010

Now a few weeks before that Bennett was on the score with Steve Dennis and basically whining about not getting the ball. He was brought here to Block and be a role player. We had problems blocking the nfc east defensive lines and lost a playoff game because of it in 07 so they shipped Fasano out and drafted a guy who could catch, run and be a dominant blocker. Yet he just wanted attention all the time and complained about what was asked of him. Not really a stretch to understand why witten probably had little patience for him. I mean he complained constantly about how rice got the ball more than beans.

I also have videos of Jeff Wade saying Romo worked personally in the offseason with Bennett going into 2010. The guy made nothing but excuses.

I look forward to a number of NFL players responding to these clowns. Their younger brother spent a lot of his time blaming Romo on twitter everyday for everything. Just a bunch of clowns. I don't expect Witten to Respond though because he is not a clown.

Bennett is an idiot. Nothing more needs to be said.

"They basically tried to like put their thumb on me, control me, make me something I wasn't, and I think that's why I had trouble early in my career," he said. "Instead of trying to change my game and make my game better, they were trying to change me as person, as a human being, and that's something i was always fighting ... I don't like Jason Garrett ... I didn't get along with him."

I've had the same complaints about Garrett. Get the stick out of your butt and let the players play. I didn't like it when the cameras caught him scolding Zeke for the 'feed me' celebration.
It's about time we see Garrett attempting to get control of his players, I just hope he's gotten that across to Dez now, in terms of keeping his head in the game and not getting into a 1 on 1 battle with a CB and letting that take him out of a game. I have no problem with it, given that Zeke is a 3 down back, his mind needs to go directly to the next play

I don't think that's true.

It looks like you've got a fundamental misunderstanding re: what we look for in players.

You could drive a truck through the divide that separates players like Michael Irvin from Martellus Bennett. And the differences have very little to do with Michael's off field struggles short of the substance abuse actually costing them playing time.

The bigger news would be finding an ex-teammate who did like Jason Witten.

It's like with what we're seeing now with Rayne. You have to play the game together. You don't have to like each other.

OK how can you compare the 2. Irvin came into the league and worked his but off and performed and then got into trouble. Bennett was an immature kid who was not coachable and a punk who thought he had earned his place in the NFL before he ever made an impact. This is one of the stupidest comparisons ever!

Even though he was telling him it might results in a taunting penalty? I kind of think that's the coach's job.

I would never condone what Irvin did off the field, but he was always a team first player. He was a leader in the locker room. Other players liked and respected him, for the most part.

Bennett couldn't care less about the team. He didn't gain anybody's respect, be it player or coaches. It was always about him. And it still is.
