Jerry: Tony Romo will return at some point near the end of the year at the latest

What it means to me is that if the training wheels fall off, they will roll Romo out there. If not, they will keep moving forward.

They almost fell off this weekend, it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Tony was ready to play and Dak was playing the way he was in the first 2 1/2 qtrs.

Basically how big of a leash does Dak have with a healthy Tony on the sideline.

I am not sure I know the answer, but I bet at some point we find out.

Romo is not going to in anyway screw up the chemistry that is national reporters phony argument because it is a simpleton angle.

Uh, no, it's not. Anyone who has played on championship teams or who have coached championship teams knows that chemistry isn't a phony argument or a simpleton angle. It's an intangible factor that you can't quantify, but you know it's there.
And ex-players who are now commentators have said as much. Ray Lewis, Deion Sanders, Marshall Faulk, LT, Shannon Sharpe, etc., all have said you don't mess with chemistry.

It's not like Dak has been named the starter of a healthy Romo. Romo is not dressing for games so obviously he isn't healthy enough to play. You think if Dak went down they'd send in Sanchez over Romo if they had a choice?

And I doubt he gets released in the off-season. Ware was released because we felt he was no longer able to play at a high-level. Looks like he just needed a change of scenery.

It will be good to have Tony ready in case Dak got hurt or just hits a wall. He can also help mentor Dak. Who knows what will happen? It could be Romo holding up that trophy when all is said and done. They have to stick with Dak for now if they are serious about winning.

huh? So you'ere saying if they went to Tony they are not serious about winning? How do you figure? Do you even know what Tony's last 20 game record is? You act like this team could barely win with Romo.

Sorry, I didn't mean that as a disrespect to Romo. I moreso meant they are winning and why disrupt that? I hope Romo gets well and like I said he may be needed again before all is said and done.

Jerry gonna pull a Buffalo Bills owner and make Garrett start Romo in a divisional playoff game.

I don't know why it bothers me, and I know it'll never change, but I REALLY wish Jerry would defer to Garrett to make these sorts of announcements.

Gut feeling here, but I still have a feeling we will see Romo again this year. And probably before the "end of the season".

Here is the entirety of what Jerry Jones had to say about #Romo today with @1053SS, @rjchoppy, and @MacEngelProf:

Thanks WG. In my opinion Jones was noncommittal about commenting on any future quarterback decision. Personally, I believe the decision will hinge upon whatever Garrett and Linehan's considerations could improve offensive passing efficiency. The running game is operating well, The defense has gradually impressed each and every week. Special teams play should be tightened up though. In short, I think the coaches will evaluate what the team has done as a whole and project how either a change or non-change at the quarterback position might impact how well Dallas matches up with future opponents at that crucial point. I foresee some people (fans, media, etc.) being surprised should the coaches pass judgment if-and-when Romo has been cleared to play this season.

Its best to let Romo heal as long as possible. With a 2-game lead in the division, they can keep running Prescott out there as a bit of a luxury. If he hits the rookie wall though (and i'm fairly sure this is coming at some point) we'll see Romo. Dak has played above and beyond what everyone has expected, but its pretty easy to see that the offense out there on the field isn't the same as when Romo is behind center. Maybe that catches up to us, maybe it doesn't. Having a beast OL and Zeke sure does help in that department.

Sure, it may not look "the same as when Romo is behind center". But that doesn't mean it looks worse. Our offense is tied for 6th in the league in PPG. We have no idea how this offense will/would perform with 2016 Romo. But you're right, that 2-game cushion is nice because it buys us time to not have to make a change right now.

What a great situation to be in. Hypothetical here, Dak is having a game like Sunday's in the playoffs, and you spell him with Romo. Couldn't ask for a better situation.

Well the problem with that is that eventually a defense is going to take something away or force the offense into different situations where an expanded playbook will be needed. It's great that it hasn't been a problem really thus far, but its going to happen at some point and even more so during the stretch/playoffs.

That would pretty much be the worst possible scenario I could think of.

Everything gets tighter in the playoffs. The game we saw Sunday will be a lot like we will see then, except the opposing QB will be better. We won't have the luxury of waiting until next week, So IF Dak is having a bad game, I do not hesitate to put Romo in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember Bledsoe was much more of a laser thrower and downfield threat but Brady came in and managed games really well and minimized mistakes to keep more consistency and winning so they stuck with him.

Actually, Brady got injured, Bledsoe came in for him and didnt outplay him, so when Brady was healthy again, they went back to Brady.

Agreed. I'm just glad we actually have the luxury of having two good QBs.

And I pray to God that the chemistry of the team isn't negatively effected if/when Romo does come back. I know he's still the better QB when healthy, but you just never know how things will really turn out.

After not playing for more than a year? In what world does that work out well for Tony or the team? I would rather just have Dak go down with the ship and chalk it up as a learning experience.
