Prescott and Bryant, Prescott vs. top defenses

Those guys don't have double coverage, so it's really not even worth comparing.
I think it's absolutely worth comparing.

They just haven't really been on the same page.

And I question how concentrated Dez has been lately with his dad just passing away. Might be a little distracted.

It doesn't help that Dak really stares Dez down when he's thinking of going to him, makes coverage easier.

Romo to Dez wasn't magical at first either. Give it some time.

This is why this offense works much better without Dez on the field when Dak is our QB. Without Dez was when this offense was at its peak in efficiency. He bogs and slows everything down.
they /jerry wont take him off the field, and will demand he get targets, they pay him 14 mil a year, so they are going to use him
good or bad.
What is needed is for dak to have freedom to choose his targets. and they need to run more and be less predictable.

When the cowboys win Sunday night, there are several posters who will be eating large servings of humble pie. And I can bet those same posters want us to lose, so Romo can play.

Totally agree.

Pass attempt #1 is to Dez while Josh Norman covers him.

Pass attempt #2 is a dump off to Zeke.

Which of those two, over time, is going to result in a higher passer rating?
Dez didn't just begin drawing the opponent's best cover corner this season, and Zeke is 5th in targets.

U go with the guy that got u 11 wins in a row and doesn't turn ball over much. Easy. U bench him u send a bad message. We kept with Romo when he was messing up. Hard to go back to Romo now he hasn't played much in 2 years and he can't stay on field. If Dak goes down than that's the only good risk we can take. Easy.
:clap:Took the words right out of my mouth.

Again, we know that it isn't normal for the targets to a #1 WR (yes, the guy who draws the best coverage) to have a lower pass rating. It's not normal, and it's not desirable.

If you want numbers for a full season, wait three games. All I can tell you is how it stands right now. And right now, whomever we choose to blame, you don't want your passing to suffer where you have the most targets. Bad thing for your offense.

This was already acknowledged in a much more specific way than ypc could tell you. As I posted in the OP, on the deeper throws Dez has 30 targets and all the other players combine for 37. But depth of target isn't an issue under 15 yards, where Bryant's targets have an 89.7 rating and everyone else's have a 102.9.

Dez's targets either need to yield better results, or there need to be fewer of them.

One might also conclude, that he's not earning his keep or role presently...

All I know is that Dak better play well if he want's to keep his job, no way we get to the SB with the way he has played lately.
Hope he plays great on sunday, if he doesn't and we lose then what a week would be in for.

Dak likes to throw what he sees right in front of him. That's Beasley and Witten over the middle. He's not very comfortable down field unless he can roll out of the pocket. Minnesota and New York were making very conscious efforts to keep him in the pocket, while covering the middle of the field.

Nice observation..... He will learn over time how to accommodate for that type of Defense.

against the giants dak pretty much looked like brand on weedon
No he didn't. He hit multiple passes that were complete and several more that hit WRs in the hands.

He was clutch when he hit Dez for a critical 3rd down conversion which they got but then Dez fumbled.

If you disect most Romo games you will see he missed a few throws and didn't always throw to the most open receiver. The difference is that the receivers disappointed.

Yes the book is out on Dak. They will work to keep him inside the pocket basically a mush rush take away the middle of the field force him to throw to the sidelines he does not excell at these types of throws. You can basically take Dez out of the game without having to double him because Dak is too conservative to look for that 1 on 1.

Need to get Beasley more involved on Sunday night, he's only had a 11 catches the past 3 games. We have to get back to moving the chains like we did earlier in the season, keeping our downs and distances manageable.

lol thats a silly argument.

dont be so fickle with Dak. dont be so weak in your belief. its not like the guy gave us a .500 season. u act like we are below .500 with Dak. I have no idea why you're grounding your arguments like Dak is a loser. The guy just lead the Cowboys to a franchise record of an 11 win streak. No QB has done that before him in franchise history. He did this in his rookie season mind you.

"one and done"
How is Dez's percentages affected by not getting 4-5 yards on first down, running the ball?

Teams know Daks not likely to to challenge 1 on 1 matchups on the outside on 1st and 2nd down as Romo would. They are loading the box on 1 and 2 and taking away the zone stretch boot. Dak needs to challenge the 1 on 1s to force them out of it unless he does its going to be 2nd and 3rd n long all night. They will not let Zeke beat them they know Dak can't beat them if they take away the middle of the field. Zeke n the OL as good as they are may put up yrds but cannot win it for us running into 8 man boxes all night Dak has to force them out of it or its all over.

Dez didn't just begin drawing the opponent's best cover corner this season, and Zeke is 5th in targets.

And those two facts have absolutely nothing to do with your original post. I could post Beasley's shoe size and that would be as relevant to the point you were trying to make.

Romo to Dez wasn't magical at first either. Give it some time.

Exactly, that kind of rapport takes time to develop.

There are a lot of factors that go into it. Dez's health is one. Another one is that in the prime years of Dez putting up big numbers with Romo, there were throws Romo would make to Dez when he was covered because it was a virtual certainty that Dez would either catch it in traffic or knock it down to prevent an interception.

Dak Prescott doesn't make those kind of passes. That isn't a knock on Dak, his attitude is different and the playcalling is different. But it does mean the stats with Dez will skew differently, especially in a year where he is playing through injuries and is still developing rapport with a rookie QB.
