If This Is Romo's Final Game As A Cowboy. Going To Be Kinda Sad

Why does every thread about Romo have to turn into a him vs. Dak thread? Jeez, can't we just respect and admire the career of Tony without having to bring Dak into every time. It's freakin' ridiculous
 
Yeah, definitely sad, but it's just how things work out sometimes. I do think playing Romo makes total sense so that he'll get some game reps to shake off rust and help him be ready in the event he has to play in relief of Dak.

With all due respect, I think you're missing the point. With the flaws that you're speaking of, did we underperform throughout the year? Games like 2011 @ Jets come to mind....fumbling at the goal line, and a game ending int to Revis in crunch time come to mind. You can't say Romo elevated us to 8-8, yet accept no responsibility for not achieving more. Are you telling me that sitting athere 8-7 @ Commanders is not a winnable game? Did a bad line and defense cause Romo to throw 3 int's including a walk off inexcusable int in crunch time? So we couldn't have beaten that skins team led by a rookie qb which started 2012 at 3-6 with the division on the line? These are career defining, perception/legacy altering games. Romo had a 10 year run with no competition and has two playoff wins to show. All that I'm saying is let's cherish, honor and respect the man without coddling. It's pathetic!

About 150 games...so there will be a handful of rough ones.
I saw someone earlier point out the 2012 Washington game. The go-to game for haters. lol
No doubt it was a rough one. Even then, they couldn't run it in the 2nd half, Austin got hurt, Dez got hurt, Harris got hurt. Freaking Ogletree was the WR...and we had to throw it....lol. Plus the Commanders DC was the one guy who could give Romo trouble regularly. Rough game.

But guess what. Same lose and go home scenario again the following year in week 15 at Washington,
Romo--herniated disc and all--drove the Cowboys for the winning TD in the closing seconds.
Those game-winning drives were very common, as you know. 2006-2014...no QB had more of them.
But somehow a select game here or there will override 20 other games for some folks.
It's always just been so weird to me.
Oh well. Is what it is.
 
Tony Romo is the man. Pure class and all heart.

He's had a few teams that had some talent on offense. 2007 and 2014 come to mind. He's never had a defense that was ever worth a crap, but yet somehow shouldered all the blame for those 8-8 seasons. I'm different from everybody else. I always felt like we had a shot as long as we had Tony Romo in the ballgame, and we did. People remember the handful of times he threw an intereception during pivitol games. It's hilarious to me that those same people seem to either forget or omit the 30 times he has led this team down the field in the 4th quarter to win games in his career. And yes they were big games.

I don't think that he's done. Wherever he plays I believe he'll shock some people.

Yep.

Most of the teams he played for were not good at all. Especially on defense. If it wasn't for him, we would have been drafting in the top 5 every year.

Maybe that would have been better to draft in the top 5 every year than Tony having to endure the pounding he took just to reach the .500 mark.. it would have served to both keep him from the injury bug and upgraded the talent around him.

It's the same people over and over again that need constant validation. It's really unbelievable actually. But you can see the same handful of people who talk down to others who like Romo.

Honestly it makes people have resentment towards the player that those people back. Like you can't give one player the respect he deserves without them going all holy on those people. They've ruined a perfectly good thread that was positive with their BS

This is a great post! The reason people ignore this is because that was the narrative that the media pushed on the average fan. Some of this fan base who are mental midgets bought it, and didn't question it or challenge it. Only because it agreed with their view and disdain for Tony so it gave them validation.

They keep wanting to compare 2014 vs 2016 without objectively looking at the differences. Which takes nothing away from the exceptional job our stud rookie has done. But let's be real Dak as a rookie has forced the coaches to actually scheme better than with Romo they allowed him to make changes because he was like a coach on the field. Also Dak has benefitted from having Romo tutor him, and IMO that has been a huge help to Dak, but if he didn't have the talent it wouldn't matter. Also I think last year the coaches had to make changes with how they handled having a different young QB, because what they did didn't work. But because if the tutoring Romo has given our stud You can see a lot of Tony's game in Daks game now. Who did Tony have behind him all these years that was a successful winning QB that holds all its franchise records and a spot in the history books as the #3 all time rated passer? He didn't.

So for me the argument between 2016 and 2014 is meaningless. I want Dak to sustain a high level of play or consistency over the next 10 years like 9. He's got Zeke who will be here for the long haul with him. Romo had a revolving door at RB, and for a few years the worst oline in NFL and some terrible and I mean terrible defenses. Also let's not forget he went through what 3 coaches and a couple of different systems and a defense that was still building into a 3-4. Dak doesn't have all the different moving parts, and I don't think people realize that. This is huge for a young QB to have consistency within the coaching staff.

You listen to Woody talk about Romo when he was a rookie and 2nd year guy and he knew the talent and was behind him.

I want the same for Dak, I want to feel the same in 12-14 years about Dak as I do about 9. So far So good and what I saw Sunday night, he looked like a different QB. Throwing that ball with authority and he was laying it out with some sick accuracy. IMO it was his best game throwing the ball.

If y'all want to have a party... A pity party at that in which you can't keep Dak's name outcha holes, don't get upset when someone brings some realism to the party. It's not a good look. Grow some thicker skin.
