Then all Garrett will need is one more helper to wear the head phones and he can spit and clap to his hearts content

Jimmy Johnson hired competent people and played CEO.
Garrett should have learned from Jimmy Johnson and stop being a micromanager.
This is what happens when you micromanage during a high-stress time-sensitive moment.

Other teams have time managers.
Jason - resistance is futile

Always easy to say in hindsight. We could have easily ran another play or two and ran out of time on a clock run off penalty. Realistically we probably had enough time even if that did happen, but we also have Terrance Williams who may have run around for 20 seconds trying to get 5 extra yards, lol.

On the opposite side what if that timeout iced the kicker, then would it have been a waste? What if we got a stop on a low percentage 1st down on 3rd and 20 would the discussion be irrelevant? So many variables... Bottom line it didnt work in our favor, but the spike isnt the sole reason we lost...

We simply have enough time.
This is not hindsight 20/20
This is a stupid decision.
I suspect most of us were going what the f___ when the ball was spike.
I was shocked.
I suspect many were.

I just had coffee with my friend who is a Packers Fan.
He said the same thing.
He was watching the game and said WHAT?
He also said "THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO THE COWBOYS"
He really had fun at my expense.

people forget the end of the first half was really even worse

1st and 10 at the 15 with about 1:20, a TD is desperately needed. Again, we're moving the ball well, should have the full playbook at our disposal, and can even get a first down fairly easily without scoring. At the same time, you have to factor in that if you score too quickly, giving Rodgers the ball back with around a minute and multiple timeouts, that's probably a better than 50/50 shot they get a FG, and they're getting the ball after halftime so that's extra bad. This is all stuff that random middle aged men sitting on their couch have bouncing around in their heads, it's not complicated.

So what do we do? Three straight (THREE STRAIGHT) passes into the end zone, all incomplete, running a grand total of like 20 seconds max off the clock, accomplishing neither of the primary goals (score a TD or at least bleed the clock/force GB to use some timeouts) with a FG in our back pocket. Of course Bailey makes it, and we kick it back, I'm sure most people assuming at that point that Rodgers is gonna get that back pretty easily, but no! Our defense steps up, culminating in a sack on 3rd down with a full 40 seconds remaining on the clock. Sounds great, right? Not really, because GB then bleeds the clock down to 1 second and punts it to Beasley who fair catches it (lol). This is because on 3rd down the previous drive (you remember that right right? we threw it into the end zone for the 3rd straight play) the offense was not in sync and the play clock was going to run out, so we burned the last timeout timeout. So, instead of getting it back around midfield with 30-35 seconds left after the Scandrick sack, we watched the half end, powerless to stop it, again, because of poor coaching and clock management.

When people say Garrett is not a good coach and he is costing us games, this is what they mean.

We're all looking for answers on what went wrong. I still maintain there were a handful of poor penalities and lack of Packers oline holds being called that played the biggest factor. We also had defenders poorly positioned and it took a few miracle throws to pull away. The Rodgers td pass went right throught Lee, the Cook reception at the end was nothing short of a miracle juggling act staying in bounds.

Those are all bad.
Despite all those, we were in a position to win in the last minute.
Yet Garrett screwed up, and he needs to man up and admit the mistake.

That coach has been paid handsomely for 10 years with little to show for it. He'll be fine.

Garrett deserved to be thrown under the bus.
I am not in Dallas but I would imagine many fans are not happy with him not admitting the mistake.
Mistakes can be corrected if one admits it and find a solution.
By saying it was the right play, he is almost forcing the owner's hand to fire him.
What is he telling Zeke and Dak - there is no accountability at the top?
I really dont want to see him fired because it would throw a monkey wrench into everything when the team is ready.

I was screaming at the TV for them not to spike it.

Maybe it's from all the terrible luck over the years, but I felt when they spiked it with a 1:18 left, Rodgers would have no problem getting a last second field goal against GUTLESS MARINELLI

The comment came off a lot more harmless if you listen to the interview.

Didn't sound very harmless to me but he's exactly right, we needed the down more than the time. Yeah Garrett will be fine

If the time was managed correctly, there would be no 3rd and 20 or need to ice the kicker.

I'm a former self annointed Madden genius. It was obvious at that time that a spike was a mistake. It turned out to be just that.

I don't see what the problem is. I keep hearing that we scored enough points on offense to win the game. How can we criticize a decision that led to less points when the consensus seems to be that the offense was not the problem?

Well said and these are exactly the kinds of things that separate good teams from great teams. Teams like New England and to lesser extent GB, are excellent in these situations.

you wrote a lot of stuff, but I stopped here because this was a critical error showing anything else you wrote is meaningless.

it was not critical that we scored a touchdown - as shown by how the game ended. what was critical is for the defense to stop giving up points in the second half.

Results based thinking is the absolute worst. And quite frankly you didn't even do that right because if you look at the final score and you add the 4 points a TD would have given us in that situation we would have won.

Since Jerry is an idiot and non football guy wouldn't that mean the right football move would have been to spike the ball?

It's like people keep forgetting Jerry Jones played college football and won a National Title. He's more of a "football guy" than 100% of this board.

we went into half time down by 8. claiming it was critical to go in down by 4 is asinine.

Not to mention fair catching a punt with no time on the clock and not at least attempting a long but makeable fair catch kick. Either try it or make an attempt at a return--but just letting the clock expire was gutless or clueless or both.
