I tried to find a video for the entire interview, but according to Mike Leslie, Zeke's mom wants this even moreso than Zeke does. The fact that he was only 369 yards away from that number after basically playing in 14.5 games.......and not playing well in the first 2 games makes his final total that much more impressive in my eyes. Anyway, here's a link to the article:

I don't know that he "needs" to...

But... if we are going to be successful then we need to shorten games.

Get ahead and chew up the clock and... then he'll get those yards.

Emmitt got his 18k+ THAT WAY!

He will be lucky to even get back to 1500 yards. Lots of things have to go right to get those kind of totals and I'm pretty sure the Cowboys don't really plan on being the type of team that has to ride the guy like a mule (like the Vikings did to Peterson) just to make the playoffs. It probably ain't ever gonna happen.

My only concern with a bruiser like Elliott..is that he doesn't end up like one of my all time favourite...Earl Campbell. Elliott could get big yardage behind this line. No question. If the club plans to over use him...and thats OK...Really do it in the Playoffs.

If he could do it averaging 6 yards per carry, I wouldn't be upset.

Hopefully he'll get with Emmitt this offseason and learn of his tricks that helped him to have a 15-year career.

i disagree
the team is a run first and often team
the o-line is top tier
Zeke is a good runner
Hes had a year to get used to the line and NFL (almost all backs do better year 2 and 3)
we will probably lose a back (Morris) using Zeke more
may figure out Zeke is a good 3rd down receiving back (use Dunbar less)

I dont think 1500 or more is an unrealistic goal

Not in the slightest. Actually it's almost a given if he doesn't get injured.

I doubt Zeke becomes Earl Campbell. Zeke is not our total offense. Campbell was Houston's total offense. Fournette with LSU is the college version of Campbell with Houston.

With Dak's development, Howard at TE, Dez on the edge and Beasley in the slot, Zeke won't be the main focus of our offense, though he will be a significant feature.

Agreed, completely. My post was based on styles only. Its not the same league either. Modern players can not be abused like Earl was...thankfully.

I would love for him to run for 2,000 yards. But, I would prefer that we conserve him so he can have a long and healthy career. I would rather have us keep his carries around to less than 320 per year (still 20 carries per game). That would be 6.25 yards per carry to get to 2,000. So, it's unlikely to happen.

We can be like the San Antonio Spurs who used advanced data analytics to help elongate the careers of players like Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker and became a great franchise for the past 20 years or we can follow the norm and burn guys like Elliott out and hope we get a ring or two out of it while having up-and-down seasons.
