With the Cowboys so vehemently set on securing a capable veteran QB to backup Dak Prescott, many are wondering just why America's Team won't pull the trigger on Kaepernick. Quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson isn't prepared to answer that question, but he wants to make a few things clear when it comes to the much-maligned QB -- with no punches pulled.

Bottom line? Don't try to sell Wilson on the fact Kaepernick's struggle to find an NFL team has nothing to do with him kneeling during the National Anthem.

Wilson says he knows better, and so should you...

I'll give him a chance...3 Steps towards the door before I pull out my 44.

NO NO NO NO NO and PLEASE NO

He's better than Kellen Moore, period.

Bring him in, pay him the vet minimum, and let him sit behind Dak in case Dak goes down. Absolute worst case scenario, Romo comes out of retirement and Kaepernick backs up Romo.

It would be a story for about a week after we signed him, and then for exactly two days after the season started and then you'd only see him in the background with a ball cap and a headset on during broadcasts.

No problem with him competing for the backup as long as he stands as necessary with hand over heart. You don't even have to believe it just be respectful. That's assuming Jones and Coach aren't allowing political expressions during the anthem, etc.

I hate this sentiment, because so many moronic fans don't stand with their hand over their heart during the damn anthem.

That and its a convenient red herring that detracts from the real message, but whatever. I can keep saying this crap until I'm brown in the face.

Cut the anthem from sports anyway - it's not necessary.

He's a tremendous upgrade over Moore, but darnit if he doesn't bring a bunch of outside noise (whether it's his fault or not).

We are the biggest spotlight in the NFL, this would be a story for quite a while. The players would be bombarded with questions constantly (imo).

The front office would need to carefully weigh risk vs. reward before pulling the trigger.

Kudos to Wilson, tho. Thanks, OP.

So "Americas Team" hires a guy with a history of kneeling during the national anthem and wearing shirts with Fidel on them...doubtful.

That's quite the oxymoron and although I know Jerry likes to find "bargains" and controversial players that will draw attention to the Cowboys even I think Jerry is smart enough to stay away from him.

Apparently the issue in Seattle was money. His numbers last season are an abnormality. 16:4 TD ratio but his other stats were a mess. I think he's an absolute upgrade and this team could avoid the tank if QB injured look of previous follow up seasons. Otoh, the other common denominator of those seasons was internal drama exacerbated by risky roster decisions (Pacman, Tank, Hardy)

It's a conundrum to me and this is from someone who had no issue with his stance. Personal feelings aside, there's little question that it has some level of consequence.

Well said, ACF!

I agree that he deserves a chance but I just don't want that circus here.

Also, I don't know if deserve is the right word but the owners have just as much right to take a stand and not sign him as he did to take a knee.
