I know, this is worse for Zeke...file your appeal, accept the punishment, whether 4 or six games and move on...dragging this out is only going to be worse for him in the end.......and the League hasn't even investigated the nightclub incident yet...which they will!

Silly.

Dragging this out does not make it worse for him unless there is something he's hiding that he doesn't want to come out. If not, the worst case scenario for him is that he loses in a court fight and has to sit out 6 games. Further, given the threat the NFL threw down saying if he gets in trouble again he could potentially face "banishment" it's even more of an incentive to fight the league if he really believes he's innocent.

I share the shock and dismay and outrage that many have expressed. And while I have had my fair share of admonishments directed towards Zeke's off field "distractions" (without trying to sound too old and grumpy), I am disgusted by the window dressing nature of this decision from the league. So, not much to add to the ongoing discussion and great points other than to state the following:

1) the league better sure as shoot be ready to break down their case sound and verse with COMPELLING new detail on what they've discovered to inform this ruling. If it's all just regurge of what we already know then they are in a very precarious situation and are setting themselves up for major embarrassment since this took a full frigin year!?!

2) I agree with the thinking that this is a foregone conclusion to reduce the suspension to about 2 games after the appeal process so the league can take a good PR stance of appearing "tough on crime" while not having to admit to trumped up charges.

3) I hope Zeke's legal team and the NFLPA are in this for the long haul and take this all the way to the top (said in my best Tony Montana voice). I think the league should be put on notice never to try this sort of BS again and they need to go straight 1980's Al Davis on their arses!?!

4) I hope this team rallies around this like the Brady suspension and comes out looking to take their frustrations out on every single opponent. Run it up on their arses and leave no doubt!!!!! Let THIS be the rallying cry that propels us to the Super Bowl.

And finally, here's hoping that Zeke STILL rushes for 2,000 next season!

Zeke Elliot, no proof -- 6 Games.

Ray Rice, knockout video -- 4 Games

So the NFL finds enough evidence to suspend him but the actual police department doesn't? So much bs

NFL is setting a dangerous precedent with suspensions based on accusations. This is going to get uglier as NFL office looks completely lost.

I want to hear Roger Goodell explain what Ezekiel Elliott did that's six times as bad as what Josh Brown did

Bumping!

Now I would like to know what will happen to Eli and the jersey scandal. Probably nothing but that tarnishes the NFL logo also.
Someone me this awhile back. I think there is something coming up in Sept but not sure. It also made me think of the Dak autographed cards debacle, was that ever resolved? Haven't heard much about it either (good thing I think).

LOL.

Well the event on the 22nd calls into question her credibility. Why the need to lie about the events on the 22nd, if she had been assaulted on the 4 previous days. In fact, why not call the cops on any of the 4 previous days? Further, medical analysis suggests that some of the injuries pre-dated the week in question, which again, would call into question her credibility.

Fact is, the league simply is just taking snippets of evidence that favor their case and basically ignoring evidence that undermines them. As noted above, they essentially made the determination long ago Elliott was guilty and it was up to him to prove he was innocent. They didn't find his defense sufficient enough.

Read the report....

If he appeals this, is he eligible to play in every game until the appeals are over? I would hate for him to miss the middle/end of the season as opposed to the beginning when the schedule is significantly easier.

I hate to go back to this, and I can't drag through 57 pages to see if this has been discussed ad nauseum already, but anyone who thinks the Cowboys aren't in a different category per Sir Roger, Mara, and the rest of the league is simply wrong. This is a crock.

Would you like to be punished for poor judgment even if you did nothing wrong? If people just follow the golden rule people, would be alright. I don't get how you and others say such like you'd be happy if you got punished for poor judgement and no actual crimes. Maybe you wouldn't mind and in that case forget what I said.

That's a good point. We as fans need to demand that the NFL stick to our court system's "innocent until proven guilty" standard. In addition, it's not the NFL's job to make that determination. That's the job of the court system. If a COURT finds a player guilty of a crime, then the league should maybe suspend the player, depending on the crime. If the player isn't convicted of anything, the league should butt out.

The matter is in civil court in NJ. What you are recalling are deadlines in that case, not anything re: the NFL. Any league investigation would follow, I presume.

Again, are the media members even mentioning these facts?

No, for the same reason the league came down with the heavy hammer... You know what's worse than saying there isn't enough credible evidence to convict someone? To question the validity of a person who is claiming to be the victim of DV/Sexual Assault. And no, I'm not trying to be cute saying that..

Brown’s 2015 arrest on a domestic violence charge and a statement by Brown’s former wife to the police that he had been physically violent with her on numerous occasions.

The charge against Brown, who has been suspended for one game by the N.F.L., was dropped days after his arrest. The N.F.L. said its investigation could not corroborate the statements made by Molly Brown, Josh Brown’s wife at the time of the arrest.

Mara, who said the Giants were aware of what Molly Brown had told the police, said the team had made similar inquiries into the matter before signing Josh Brown to a two-year, $4 million contract in April

I could be wrong, I don't think I am, but it sounded like they were just throwing that out as a theory as to how she acquired bruises.

This girl also tried to get her friends to lie to the police.

I don't want to defend Zeke if he was abusing this girl but I just don't think the NFL has a clue who hit this girl or how she got her bruises.

I think the whole thing is NFL politics.
This seems to be the case with bold but people hear what they want to hear. This is how rumors get started people switching context of words and in some cases outright lying for a more juicy story. Its like a real life version of the game telephone smh.

Take off your Cowboys goggles for a second and look at all the situations he lands himself in. Just because he didn't break a law according to police investigation doesn't mean there's no smoke on all these other incidents he continually finds himself involved in.

We know the NFL doesn't need the force of law to enforce the conduct policy. the nfl conduct policy can basically be summed up as "whatever we feel like". So you have to keep your nose clean. Zeke doesn't think he has to do that, apparently. So get the f off me with this silliness BS.

Its the leagues rules, and you have to play by them.
Exactly guilty until proven innocent. Smoke is all that's needed to convict. This isn't Russia. Yet.
