Typical Garrett trying to outthink or outsmart a better opponent.
He must ask Jerry and Stephen first.Garrett can veto any call he wants
Wow, talk about situational stupidity. So don't try and score unless there is under 90 seconds? 60 seconds? 10 seconds? What if there is a penalty? Or a sack? or we're stuffed for no gain? Or we move backwards? I understand if all we needed was a fg. But when you have to score a TD you have to go out and try and score. Dez in single coverage in the Red Zone is a play and situation you take. It's simply not practical to say we aren't going to go for the potential game winning TD right here because there is 90 seconds on the clock and it's too much time.
People are so results oriented and emotional.
If my quarterback can't recognize something this simple, then he's not going to be my quarterback anymore.
I've moved on. However, everybody is trying to make Dak out to be the next elite QB. So far, he's just the next Byron Leftwich. A while mountain of things to prove still.
UI just don't get what they aren't getting. Run the dive again to Zeke with 2nd & 1 and you end up with four fresh downs around the 10 yard line. GB has to use their last timeout. Then you run clock. You do NOT under any circumstance give Aaron Freaking Rodgers the ball back with a timeout and enough tire to work his magic. You just don't. Period. You play the probabilities. It is more probable that you score using the strategy I just outlined and leave just enough time on the clock to piss Aaron off....
They basic they basically made the same mistake they made in the playoff game last year.Situational awareness 101
Irony.Wow, talk about situational stupidity.
We actually took 9 minutes to score. If that's too fast then we suck. You are overly complicating this to try and make your point, and you don't coach or play scared of every possible negative outcome. You are also using your example in a vacuum, but the context of the situation easily shows that we scored too fast and gave Rodgers too much time against our abysmal defense.
In the context that we're talking about, you don't pass the ball. You have a 1st and 10 from the 19 with 2 minutes left. You then ran the ball for 8/9 yards on 1st down, setting up a 2nd and 1 or 2. I'm pretty sure Dak snapped the ball with 10 sec left, that is error number 1. Error number 2 is calling a RPO. There isn't an exact time you need to score at, but you minimize the other teams chances of winning the game.
We weren't up against the clock, GB was. If it was me, I'm not calling a pass play until there are under 30 seconds left.
They apparently didn't learn anything from the playoff loss last year. Situational football failure.
I mean that's not true. For God's sake, dude...open your eyes. A TD there does us no good if Rodgers has over a minute to work with plus a timeout.
Wrong. The offense could have played it much smarter down the stretch and placed the defense in a much more advantageous position. What is the alleged strength of this team? The offense..
If Dak changed the play from run to pass then it's on him. Plain and simple.
We actually took 9 minutes to score. If that's too fast then we suck.
But the goal is to score. You cannot ignore advantageous match-ups because you want to score with 40 seconds left rather than a minute and 20.
So ignore advantageous options in the red zone because scoring a td there was our birthright.Yep.
We worked the clock for 9 minutes being methodical largely because we knew we didn't want to give the ball back to Rodgers with enough time to mount a drive. And it was working to perfection until the coaches got moronic and called a RPO that opted into a low percentage pass play that resulted in the team giving the Packers what they desperately wanted - a free time out.
And yes, you can ignore advantageous matchups if you want, especially if the circumstances dictate that the last thing you want to do it stop the clock for the Packers and you are calling a play that has a high probability of doing just that.
So ignore advantageous options in the red zone because scoring a td there was our birthright.
Makes sense.
If this had never occurred while Romo was quarterback, you might have a point. If my quarterback can't recognize something this simple, then he's not going to be my quarterback anymore.
If this had never occurred while Romo was quarterback, you might have a point.
I swear listening to your comparisons I'd think under Romo we won Super Bowls, err, NFC championships, uhh..., multiple playoff games - oh...2.
I mean that's not true.
Meanwhile the biggest knock on Rodgers career is that he's actually been incredibly poor in the 4th quarter when trailing games.
Also to win the game you have to score the TD. YOu can't just say hey guys ya know....100 seconds is too long. Let's avoid an advantageous matchup to score so that maybe we score later. It's silly.
