Prime for Prime. who was better. Dez or Miles Austin?

OP your question is perfectly valid and anyone who is saying otherwise is either clueless or has a short memory. I would put 2009 Miles Austin easily above any version of Dez that has ever existed. Despite only being the starter for 9 games that year, Austin piled up 81 catches and 11 TDs on over 16 yards per catch. He had an incredible 5 games that season with over 10 receptions including a 15 catch, 250 yard game... and again he was only the full time starter for 9 games. For perspective, Dez has less 10 reception games (4) in his entire career. Heck it might take 2017 Dez a month to catch 15 passes.
Dez has had a better career but that isn’t the question being asked. And it’s not really even all that better. Austin went to two Pro Bowls; Dez has gone to two Pro Bowls and a third in 2016 he had zero business being in.
2009 Miles Austin vs 2014 Dez Bryant is absolutely a good debate between two extremely hard to tackle receivers with big play ability.

Agree 100% that OP asked very valid question...and difference between two on the net isn't much. Some guys 'round here are just in constant melt-down mode...itching to go negative on everything imaginable.

Dez and it's not even close. MILES was a #2 and a product of Romo. On his own he did nothing better than Dez besides top end speed.
Austin had better hands, was faster, ran better routes and was a better blocker due to years spent on special teams. And isn’t it kind of weird to say Austin was a product of Romo (maybe he was) and use it to boost Dez of all people?

Miles never wowed me like Dez did. I mean if we're gonna call it what it is then let's be honest. Owens was the best wr we've had since the playmaker.

Miles had good hands, ran good routes and was fast. But Dez was stronger, made more plays and brought energy that Miles couldn't even dream of. He had the eagles game and chiefs game. So What! Terry Glenn had great games too. MILES is no Dez...just my opinion.

I love the miles Austin haters

Dude came from no where and when healthy did a great job for us

The biggest frustration many had with Austin was him cashing in big on one great season and watching his numbers immediately begin to decline the folllwing season. He had a lot of drops which gave him the nickname “hands of stone” and he began having repeated hamstring injuries. He was a good receiver but wasn’t worth the six-year $54 million extension. That contract later on created some cap ramifications for the Cowboys. It was one of the reasons they had to let Demarco Murray walk.

They just think dez is the greatest of all time in spite of the fact that he sucks.

Who thinks that? I guess you missed the many Dez sucks threads here. We are only talking about Dez's best years (3 from 2012-2014) vs the 1 great year for Miles. Not too difficult to comprehend.

Oy at this thread.

Dez hate to a new level.

Listen, I’m as frustrated as anybody with Dez. I get it, he’s taken a step back, but let’s not sit here and talk **** about the dude like he wasn’t one of the best wide receiver’s to ever wear the star. It kind of pisses me off how disrespectful a lot of people on this board have become towards him.

It’s gotten to the point where I hope he ends up on a team like the Patriots and goes the hell off to throw it back in a lot of peoples face.

It's what happens to every player that stays here long enough and has some type of injury or down season.

Romo got crapped on by some when he still played and during the 16 season.
Witten is getting tons of flack, deserved or not.
Ware was getting flack as washed up when we went to the 4-3.(Started talking about how his sacks weren't in clutch time)
Austin got flack due to injuries(like he wanted to get injured over and over).

Now Smith is getting some flack due to his back issues by some.
