This is my point also................the people that bash Dez have to realize that the most important person to the wr is the qb, if he's not good then the wr won't be good. If the wr sucks then you'll be able to tell because all the other wrs will have good to great numbers. If all the wrs have declining numbers then it must be the qb.

Imo Dez knows that Dak sucked last year and if the Cowboys come to him talking about a paycut then he'll leave for a team that has an established passer. He hasn't had one in three years.
Not true, just look at DeAndre Hopkins in Houston.... he puts up numbers regardless of which horrible QB is playing for the Texans. Andre Johnson was the same way. The reason, IMO, is that they are great route runners, who can get seperation and catch the ball. They are not one trick ponies who have to a perfectly thrown jump ball to make a catch. These two WRs are also not distractions, demanding that the ball be thrown to him, pouting and acting like a baby on the sidelines. Dez's act is getting old, and he should realize that his ranting and raving is not him being passionate, but him thinking that he is the star of the team. He is not and has not been for several years.

I think John in Plano killed the call in business. I just wished the ticket hadn't pushed the button to cut him off as he was about to let jeri have it, here she blows, an oldie but a goodie:

That's some raw truth right there. Emotions came out and Jerry dug in and really told the honest truth. That was some "cold, dead hands" stuff there.

I can see why he's wouldn't want to get put on the spot and have things come out so brutally honest like that anymore. Now it's all about prepared statements and having time to think things through.

This goes into the file along with Tim McMahon questioning him about the same subject in the locker room. Is it any wonder that Timmy Mac is now covering the NBA and not the Cowboys?

Gotta control that flow of information, just like everything else.

"You just want me to sit back and write checks. By the way, that doesn't work either. Where does that work in the NFL?"

That was exactly the guy I thought of when I heard Jerry say that.

He just "writes the checks", and polishes the trophies.

I think Dez plays for the Cowboys one way or another in 2018, after that all bets are off, he will be close to that magical 30th birthday when WR's and RB's generally decline, maybe another wasted career here like DWare, Romo, Witten etc

Dez would easily match his current deal

He is due 2/25m with 0m guaranteed..... AJeffrey just got 4/64m and he had worse numbers than Dez......Jeffrey had 781 yds and 9 TDs

Teams are flush with cash and cap space and no one to spend it on
Dez would get paid an he deserves it...... he is bona fide

His last 16 full games are 890 yds and 8 TDs

We made the same mistake with DWare and got nothing back and played 3 more solid years with DEN

I would prefer to have the money we'd save by releasing dez than to keep the player and pay him. the last two years are a good indicator of the kind of receiver he is now. injuries have taken their toll on the petulant one. he is no longer the alpha dog at pulling down contested catches which was his claim to fame. know when to hold 'em. know when to fold 'em.

Yeah, I think he'd get a good deal in FA.

I think he'll be here but I'd still try and trade him. They'd get decent market value for a year, and then they can just cut him if he doesn't pan out, or keep him.

I wouldn't just cut him though, you can get something for him.

Someone takes that contract and gives him the 12m base salary as a signing bonus and it already a deal

or DAL could add 3years and 25m to his current deal, guaranteeing 25m and save 8m on the cap this year and 6m next year

He needs a pay cut, not a kick the can down the road situation.
The road gets a lot wider and the can gets a lot smaller down the road

it is the smart road to take...... it is the HOV Lane

DAL is already 70m under the cap next year....... why not use some of that this year and win some games?

last year belichik turned down first round draft offers for garoppolo. this year he lets him to to the 49ers for a 2nd rounder???????????? perhaps kraft did get involved in this move. it certainly wasn't a belichik kind of move.

Belichick didn't want him going to CLE in the AFC and shipped as far away as possible

They will only play once every 3 years and maybe never in NE...... Bill did him a big favor sending him to Kyle Shanahan

I like the idea of signing Jarvis Landry
cutting Dez after June 1st
then resign Martin with the money saved after cutting Dez

Thats my issue with his article. Makes it sound like we dont have the cap space to get Jarvis is we wait on cutting Dez. We have the room to sign Jarvis and wait on Martins contract until after June 1st.

We have 60m in cap space without cutting anyone

Extending ZMartin will SAVE cap space......not use more
JLandry is getting 12-14m per year FWIW....... but it means we can cut Beasley and save 3.5m
Cutting Dez makes us worse, not better...... restructure him and save 8m

Dez-JLandry-TWill-Switzer-NBrown-Draft pick is strong
