It is kind of like the trades to get either Paxton Lynch or Connor Cook that thankfully never developed the way they wanted them to.

Better to be lucky than what they think is good sometimes.

Amen to that Brother! Connor Cook...

Really? Last year's 3 FA signing, losing Hitchens for nothing, etc, etc.

The FO has been solid for the last few years with the draft, contracts, and free agency.

McClay has thumb on what the Cowboys need to do in order to win. He communicates well with Garrett, then scouts and the accountants.

And the legend of McClay grows. He is like the great and powerful Oz.

You are right. They deserve credit, all pessimism aside.

The Cowboys had next to nothing cap-wise after franchising DeMarcus Lawrence, but they were able to address depth issues at receiver, offensive line, and linebacker. Hurns may be the only "name" signing among them, but Dallas should get credit for at least hitting most of their need areas.

The real answers at LB, S, and DT should come in the draft.
Right down the guts of the defense we are in need.Your spot on. LB is a bigger need than we like to admit I think..lets be honest. We need a athletic immovable fat boy..alpha dog at DT...and at safety, we gotta find an answer. Kavon Frazier and Woods tandem? Hmmm..

I just don't think the fat boy, alpha dog is coming. We've got Irving as our starting 3-tech, which keeps Collins as the starting 1-tech backed up by Price. Mix in Crawford and we've probably got our interior DL unless some player just falls to us in the draft who we can't pass up.

In fact, I don't really see us messing with DL this offseason because we took Taco in the first round last year and Lawrence is clearly a starting end. The most we might do is grab some depth competition in the later rounds.

Maybe I'm wrong. I'd love to have Vea or Payne at 1-tech, but I just don't see Dallas valuing them.

Credit when it is due, they did an excellent job of bargain shopping given themselves room to extend Martin who should be the number one priority. What they'll do with D-Law is tricky, we don't want to over pay the game after one year of being healthy. Let's not pay the guy "D-Ware" money yet.

If we can revamp the LB core this year..I would love that. Its weak and suspect.

they've done a good job with the salary cap restrictions they have. they restructured when necessary to sign 3 guys they wanted. biggest problem, imo, still remains the coaching staff. hc, oc, and dc all need to challenge themselves to do better. maybe they could take some advice from the plethora of new position coaches they brought in.

Other than building a great offensive line and drafting Zeke, the FO has not impressed me as a FO from a Super Bowl team. From what we are seeing, the line will slowly be dismantled and and argument could be made that Dallas should have traded up for Wentz which the team was crazy about after working with him at the Senior Bowl. I am a bid Zeke fan , but a franchise QB is much more important and would have been worth the price.

We can argue about who Dallas should have targeted in free agency, but the team has landed the players it has targeted. The Joneses brought in Thompson, Hurns and Fleming and signed them.

Yeah they had to sign Fleming because of how bad they botched drafting OT Chaz Green. Seems to me like we are seriously overrating Hurns too, I mean the Jaguars didn't even want him back.

Frankly, I don't give a **** about you or what you think. So continue smooching up to mediocrity. And by the way, Romo never won anything, I'm not cool with that. Maybe you are.
Just pointing out you are one of the posters who hate on everything. You made your bed now man up and deal with the consequences.
