When we were good on defense in the 90's we had the ability to go 3 deep at each position on line. If you guys recall...in the first SB victory against the Bills, what turned the tide quickly was our dline,NOT THE OFFENSE. Interior guys like Jimmie Jones would have been a starter for any one else..but he was a back up...rotational guy. We had Hennings...and Leon Lett...I mean we were loaded all across the front. Tony Tolbert was pure raw power and speed off the edge and he wasn't even a starter!!! Jim Jeffcoat..speaks for himself, very sound player off the edge.I know I'm forgetting some other lineman..but you get the point. Kelly couldn't establish anything from that point on after he was hit early on. Then the offense took advantage of the turnovers and field position. Until we get back to that style,we wont win. Philly played in that style and look what they did. Me thinks we now realize this...hence Ealy possibly comin in...not to start, but to be another key cog in the rotation. I LOVE WHAT I AM SEEING.

DE- Lawrence, Taco, Crawford and Ealy
DT- Irving, Collins, Draft pick (Vea or Payne?) and Price.
I think a group like that can feast.

The fact Ealy has been in "negotiations" with the Jets and yet still decided to visit the Cowboys bodes well for us. Maybe Dallas can't offer him a huge contract, but there's a chance to blow him away with the incredible facility at the Star. And that does make a difference.

Ealy is still young, and while he doesn't have the sack numbers fans like, he'd be an excellent rotation man in this scheme. I'm really liking what Dallas is doing this year in free agency, but I've learned not to get too carried away.

Plus, I think we'd fit his style better. If I'm not mistaken, I think the Jets run a 3-4. That doesn't fit his style of play.

I would be willing to give him a 2-3 year deal if the money works. Good rotation guy

Everyone here waa bashing the front office bad when the Pats dealt for Kony and we didnt. He was cut shortly after.

I want depth at the edge positions, but I would prefer a trade for Kevin Dodd or Nate Orchard, or bringing Mayowa back at a reduced salary.

Kony did lead all DL in batted passes last year I believe, so between him and Irving we could more PDs on the Dline than the secondary lmao

You're confusing Kony Ealy (drafted by the Panthers in the 2nd round in 2014) with Dominique Easley, picked 29th in the 1st round by the Patriots. That was the year the Cowboys traded up for Lawrence, and many of us believed it would have been better for them to stay put, and draft Kony Ealy in the 2nd round, and OG Trai Turner in the 3rd round. The Panthers ended up with both Ealy and Turner. Turner is a 3x Pro Bowl OG, but Ealy flamed out, was traded to the Patriots in early 2017, waived, and then picked up by the Jets.

Dominique Easley was injured two seasons in a row, and then released by the Patriots.

Did you just say Payne was less raw than Vea? I'm confirming, before I say anything. Because you could have just mistyped

Payne actually might be a little more developed from a technique perspective.

Neither really needed much technique in college because they were both physically superior to most opponent OLinemen.

Smells a bit like the Nolan Carroll situation. We seemingly are always linked to this guy, finally get him and, at this point, I am not sure he's any good anymore. But if he's real cheap (read, don't sign a long term deal for him like they did with Carroll), he's worth a camp looksee.
Wagering-Dollars to Donuts, he's gotta be better than Nolan Carroll as far as R.O.I., right? He's got one thing going for him already, no Eagles stench.

Nope, im not at all.
Pats traded for Ealy from the Panthers in the last year of his deal. Moved down from their 2nd round pick to the Panthers 3rd to obtain him.

In my comment you replied to I even stated the Pats dealt for him, not drafted him.

Everyone bashed the front office for not trading for him, given our 2nd was better than the Pats so they would have taken our offer over the Pats.
