The Dez release is no surprise. We all know he hasn’t produced at his pay level in 3 years, so this move was pretty much inevitable.

The surprise and sadness of some fans is a normal reaction as a fan. You get attached to players and also tend to overrate what they can do for you. The FO is doing right thing here.
I don't agree we will neglect the defense again.

Is it just me or no one else notice Jerry's official statement makes no mention of $$$$. Only reason given.....we decided to go
a new direction. It was never about pay cut........
that usually means it's about the money..lol

If that's their plan, they are dumb.

As noted in the post right above yours, 13 WRs have been drafted in the first round in the last 3 years. 1 has made a Pro Bowl. And he was a Top 10 pick.

And this isn't even a strong WR draft.
See my response to Willie. There's always room to flex.

I cant stand post like this. Jerry is a football guy more than most! He was co-captain of the 1964 National Championship team. More than what most GM's can say. Cry he isnt a good GM all you want with his 3 super bowl wins but saying he isnt a football guy is dumb.

College football career
He attended college at the University of Arkansas where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.[citation needed]

He was also a co-captain of the 1964 National Championship football team. He was an all-Southwest Conference offensive lineman for Hall of Fame coach Frank Broylesand a teammate of Jimmy Johnson.[citation needed]

Other notable teammates were Glen Ray Hines, a consensus All-American offensive tackle, Ken Hatfield, Jim Lindsey, and future Outland Trophy winner Loyd Phillips. Several future head coaches were assistant coaches for Frank Broyles and the Razorbacks during his college career in Fayetteville including Hayden Fry, future head coach at the University of Iowa, Johnny Majors, future head coach at Iowa State University, the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Tennessee, and Barry Switzer, Hall of Fame coach of the University of Oklahoma.[citation needed]

Jones is one of a very small number of NFL owners who had a significant level of success as a football player
Playing and leading are one thing. But I see your point. Jerry and Stephen are terrible GM caliber leaders. Stephen also played college football. Just like Michael Jordan. Great player. Terrible leader of the operational side of basketball. This is what is lacking with the Dallas Cowboys and why they are not a serious contender for a SB and will not be as long as they run the operations of building a team.

Apparently its not just the majority of fans that dont know how to run an NFL franchise.
Where are all these SB since Jimmy ran his fat little butt out of town?
18 other teams have not won a superbowl since the Cowboys last did.

Guess those teams don't know what they are doing either?

With the release of Dez Bryant Friday, Jerry Jones has over the years cut the franchise’s all-time leading rusher (Emmitt Smith), all-time leading passer (Tony Romo), all-time leader in sacks (DeMarcus Ware and now the all-time leader in touchdown passes in Bryant, who recorded 73 touchdowns in his eight seasons. He also cut the best guard in franchise history, Larry Allen.

To flatout release him is stupid. I would have traded him for a bag of chips to keep him out of NFC East.

The FO thinks Dez is washed up and their not scared of where Dez plays. If they were going to trade him it should have been done long ago when Dez's trade value was high.
