Would this Staff play the better player if it meant Rush?

Will you stop. If Dak is bad this year he will be replaced by a first round pick next season.

If Dak is bad this year and they have no hope for Rush then we replace him with a 1st round pick.

If Dak is bad and they see a bit of Romo in Rush, he would get the last few games to see what he has.

Training Camp, and pre season rolls around and Dak is proving to not have progressed. Meanwhile Rush is lighting it up...

Does this pathetic FO and Coaching staff pull the trigger like they did on Romo, and Dez or do they try and ignore it?

You must really don't cowboys much if you don't know the answer to your own question, or even have to ask.
And anyway it would take more than a preseason collapse for any organization to make a major change like that.

If the cowboys are starting out 0-5 in the regular season and dak is a big contributor towards it then maybe, but preseason? No.

The tight window garbage is that, a lot of that is him, the scheme. 34 pass attempts over 20 yards does not seem like a risk taking QB to me. That is essentially 2 passes a game. If you are DC are you going to worry about Dak Prescott throwing a pass over 20 yards

The only reason Cooper Rush got the #2 job in the first place was 1) he only had to beat out Kellen “QB Coach” Moore for the gig and 2) his contract is low-dollar.

CR now has a full season of Garrett/Linehan offense under his belt and he’s still low-dollar. So unless he gets beat out by some yet-to-be-acquired newbie, he’ll likely remain the backup.

But as for his replacing Dak in the lineup for any reason other than injury...keep rubbing that lamp, Aladdin; you got two wishes left.

What's the fascination with Rush? Is he Rodgers in waiting? Everything they've been building since last season is for a team led by Prescott. Teams do not change QB's easily and they don't intentionally damage the confidence of the guy they've chosen.

These same fans complaining about Dak were the same ones that would try to run Aikman out of town his first few years.
yup the other two Steves were supposed to be much better than that Bust in Aikman..:)) man if we had SM back than that would have broke the internet

If Dak breaks a back bone and Rush rattles off 13 wins, I think they make the same call. For the same reason.

But I do love this game of making up a hypothetical and then assuming the team makes a poor decision so we can then complain about what they might have done. It opens up a whole new avenue of things to ***** about.

What worried me most about Dak was that he was missing some very easy passes and trying to force other ones. Hopefully we see some improvement with Dez gone as he won't have to try and force passes his way, Smith being healthy, and Zeke not being suspended (yet). I don't like the fact that everything has to be perfect for the QB to play well, but as long as we win, I don't see any reason to make a change.

Exactly he was missing easy passes and passes in 2016 he was making. Indicating that some wasn't quite right with his mental make up. Last year we went through a lot with Zeeks situation at the front, which I feel threw out hole team outta wack. So when the team is uncertain, oline obviously not up to standard, no change in offensive scheme..we can understand why not only Day struggled but the team struggled. Again I've gone through plenty of years of garbage Dallas qbs to know we are very fortunate to have Dak, especially with Romos demise.

Just saying so if he stinks it up in TC and preseason, I mean horrible play.

And Rush just looks better, do you just go in the season and hope he shakes it off?

This fanbase is hilarious. Dak won rookie of the year and then had a little bit of a bad stretch with Zeke out and already calling for his head for Rush. Lmao. Never fails.

Dak will at least get 8 games. If he stinks it up, I’d hope Garrett has the balls to put Rush in but I doubt it.

Cooper Rush is lucky to be the backup QB here, just another mistake this FO didn't learn after 2015 season.

It depends on whether the coaching staff panics if their jobs are on the line by mid season.

If ever there was a case for open competition for the starting QB job its this years Cowboys. Should be a battle between Dak, Rush and a newly acquired veteran (though not a top dollar one). Let all 3 duke it out and push each other. Competition will improve the younger QBs and we'll get to see if Dak can lift his game while under pressure.

Rush will get his chance during the season when Dak simply a liability out there!
Rush is a Cowboy for those Dak-Bots that might need reminding!
I'll already say that the offense and esp the passing game will be in better hands with Rush at the helm.
Being better than Dak is really nothing to gloat about Rush will have to prove hes worth or NEXT!!!
