No, but it's still a pick not one, but two years earlier. They'd get Dallas' actual third rounder - higher than any compensatory pick - in -018 rather than 2020.

The salary is certainly a factor, but the two year timing between when Seattle gets the pick is certainly a factor as well.
Congratulations Jason, you typed words and said nothing.

I'd do a 3rd and 4th....max. I wouldn't give up the 2 for a guy at 29 yrs old. We don't handle 2s well but still a steep price considering you have to pay him too.

They would absolute morons to give up anything other than a 4th rounder for a guy that a year from now they can get for nothing.

No gurantees where he goes once he is a UFA... besides that— we have a gigantic hole at FS with Byron going to corner and a vet like ET can help the young pups adjust to Kris Richard and develop quicker in hid system.

I would trade a 2nd for ET as he is an All Pro at a position of need on our team. He is guranteed better than any safety you draft at 50 this year— and we are in a decent place to sign him long term if we want to.

Nothing. we are not 1 or 2 players away from winning anything important. Our best hope is what we draft.

We are also not a “Cowboys Type” second or third round pick away from winning either. Thomas could not play for three years and still be better than anyone we draft in rounds 2-7 for the next five years. Y’all act like this Cowboys FO drafts like a good drafting team.

Yeah.

If was an either/or deal, where you gave up the pick or paid him? Sure.

But because it's both, the team has to get a break somewhere, especially for a guy who's 29 years old.

a second if to much for him. he may only be a one year player for us. also this team has a bad history of over 30 players staying healthy. I say do not trade for him. the price is to high in my opinion. this team is not just one player away from contending for a superbowl.

He is also guaranteed to cost 10-times what that 2nd round pick will cost in terms of annual salary.

Another huge consideration.

And without one, this team wouldn't have Sean Lee, Demarcus Lawrence, Jaylon Smith, or Chidobe Awuzie. That's something else to consider.

It always seems our guys every season (dez, scandrick) don’t have any trade value to other teams and we just release them. Yet players we are interested in, well teams want 1st or 2nd rounders, and most of the time we do it.
You would think this front office is run by amateurs
People laugh at Jerry's flip phone but it is a problem

Today's GMs are texting each other from the gym, not just calling or having a steak and whiskey business dinner

It is just a theory of mine but they never look really "plugged in" even during the Draft

Dallas was always known as the innovators and as the computer team.... I don't think Jerry would know analytics if it got on his Party Bus and worked the pole

True, unless another team will give a 3rd.

This secondary needs a guy like that to show them the way. Especially when our secondary coach was his coach for years.

The owners don't care if they move, they aren't trying to get out of their lease we are trying to get them out of their lease because their lease might be more valuable to us. Try again.

Which brings me full circle. Let them shell out the 9 million. There is no reason we should be giving them all kinds of compensation and taking on a big contract for a Safety that is going into his 10th season when we have so many positions to strengthen as it is. No reason at all.

Give them a second, yes.

We won't find a player of his calibre at 50.

The funniest part about the whole thing is people who say they wouldn’t give a 2nd are gonna be just as angry when we use that pick on another Tight End lol
