Plug Evans in and never worry. He aint flashy..but he's basically a better version of CJ Mosely. Faster, more instinctive and high ceiling...most of all..he IS that alpha dog leader we lack and crave. No offense to Lee..but this cat will make LEE better.

One of the most dependable sources on the WWW says he is. Someone who actually knows what they are talking about. A CURRENT pro scout, not a has been, or a never was, or just some random poster. In fact he has him as a solid 1st round pick that should go right about at 19. I tend to judge people by what they actually KNOW and quite frankly to be honest just about all of the people who actually KNOW, say that he is a solid pick at that spot.

That’s fine. Trust your source. What SOME scouts also say is there is only around 17-19 first round players this draft and guess what. LVE isn’t one of them. Taking LVE at 19 would be a need pick because there will be BETTER OVERALL players available.

Again, just because professionals are saying he will go around that range doesn’t mean he isn’t a second round player. Second round players are taken in the second half of the first round all the time, due to team NEEDS. Just like I said.

See: Taco Charlton.

don't rule out James or Vea. Almost inevitably you get 1 or 2 elite players that drop far for reasons that are unexplained. For example. Lets say 1 of the top 5 teams rolls the dice on a QB..say..the colts? that changes the trajectory bigtime. NOBODY has the colts taking a QB. This bares watching. Last year it was Chicago throwing everything out of whack. Another thing..what if The Browns take Mayfield? lol...do the Giants take Darnold? You bet they would...or they may trade back. The colts are the team IMO that can change the draft boards.

I'll admit I missed completely I wanted Manziel. My decision was more emotional due to being done with Romo.

Very brave of you to admit that.
Most people did not find out about the Shazier thing until after the draft.

Not that many people were upset about losing out on Shazier.

The PLENTY of people being upset some were talking about was us taking Zach of Johnny Football.

So many wanted us to take Johnny Football...even the guys on the NFLN and ESPN draft shows were hoping for it as it would have been a HUGE thing for the sports press...Johnny Football in Dallas.

BUT...there were many who were also happy we did not take Johnny Football...He was very polarizing for this Teams fan base...A good deal of us were VERY happy to take Zach of Johnny.

I was nervous while we were on the clock b/c I thought Jerry was going to pull the trigger on Manziel.

On the old cowboy board, nobody was celebrating Zach Martin. It was viewed as a solid , safe pick in a draft where we needed a defensive play maker.

nah..I don't hate him. I will be his biggest cheerleader if we take him. I just prefer a guy that has faced great competition week in week out and can knock the piss out of you...you know you been hit. That's a game changer. Not so sure he's that guy.

I wonder how a "non hitter" was able to make MORE tackles for 2 yards or less than ANY other L.B in the country over the same time period? THAT......... would be almost impossible.

Also,.... you keep bringing up level of competition. Guess what,.... that works both ways. As everyone knows a linebacker, especially a middle linebacker NEEDS the big boys in front of him to keep the O lineman off of him and keep him clean so he can make plays. Do you think LVE had anywhere near the kinds of defensive lineman in front of him keeping him clean that Evans had? And yet............ there he is, NUMBER ONE when it comes to tackles with minimal gain. Evans didnt even make the list. Actually,... that SHOULD set off alarm bells when it comes to Evans and I am an Evans fan! I would be happy with either,... just prefer LVE. Far more upside IMO.

I and a good number of others were very happy with Zach.

Heck even if you take out Manziel and told me it was between Zach and Shazier...I would still pull for Zach.

The problem was whenever LVE had to shed blocks he couldn't get it done. When Evans had to he was able to. So we should draft a guy at 19 who we have to teach to play in the middle where he constantly play through traffic and shed blocks. Im done with projects on this defense.

3 first round picks on the OL in 4 years was overkill. But, times were more optimistic with Romo and Dez in his prime.

I been studying the Colts needs..I know this is off topic..but what if they trade back with Dallas and we draft James at there slot? That would take much ammo..but what if we also made a deal to get Earl Thomas tonight? Two plug and play safeties..would you do it? The colts need tons of players...we don't really. We have too many picks. We wont use them all. I would target the colts. That said,I don't wanna move up...I value those draft choices too much I guess. If we don't make this move..I see the colts actually doint the unthinkable and drafting some bigtime QB insurance at that slot. Josh Allen to the Colts?

LVE also forced 4 FFs last year, Evan's had 2 in in his college career. LVE had 2 picks last year, Evan's has never had a pick.

Alabama is loaded, but they also beat 3 teams by 50+ last year. A couple more 30+. The "competition" argument is weak, Alabama was infinitely more talented than most of their schedule. And Saban.

And I actually like Evan's. But it's pretty obvious when people aren't being objective and just throwing out buzzwords that confirm their bias.

How was he able to lead the country, to do what he did, if he is soft and cant shed blocks? How in the world can someone who cant shed lead all of college football in tackles that hold the ball carrier to two yards or less? THAT ........ is an amazing trick...LOL

Which can be taught. Even Lombardi who is critical of him says he can learn it.

At the end of the day the anti LVE stuff is like watching someone trying to pour water into a bucket thats been shot with a 12 gauge. Just dont hold any water. Not fact based. Its fine to prefer Evans IMO, as I have said many times I would be ok with either. I just prefer the arguments against LVE to be actually fact based and not pulled from thin air is all.

Watch his tape. When he is in open space, coverage, and doesn't have to take on blocks he is really good, easy 1st round pick. But on our team he will be dealing with alot of trash at the MLB spot. At his size he should not be afraid to take on contact.
