Does anyone here completely appreciate how damn good of a draft we had? Understand this...Bo Scarborough was THE best player Bama had and was dominant up until injury. He was a runaway freight train. To land this cat in round 7 is a huge get!!! He is better than Rod Smith..easily. If he is healthy,Smith will be moved to Fullback.Cedrick Wilson may be the most productive WR in the entire draft!! Same with Gallup. Both polished route runners and great technicians. Connor Williams is just a BAD MAN! I admit,I dunno much on Schulz the TE...or Armstrong. They are enigma's. But I like what I'm hearing. LVE...if healthy..I am warming up to the kid. He is highly productive. Plus to get Tavon Austin for basically a cup of coffee and a bag of chips is a steal! Hate that we traded Switzer..but I understand it. We get a stud DT with upside, plus game experience. We filled many needs the last 3 days. Time will tell, but we did what had to be done in the FO. Kudos for the effort to MCclay, and Stephen Jones..a whale of an effort. Can't fault them one bit.

The good, we will have open competition. The bad...we are rebuilding the offense. Translation is we are 2-3 years away from the SB.I

I dont see adding new WR's as rebuilding our offense. I see it as making the O "Dak Friendly"

I agree we had a really good draft. But not getting interior d-line help in this draft or last draft is a mystery to me. But overall it was an A draft in my book

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but when one of the first things you say is wrong I tend to stop reading. I didn't say they downgraded on both lines, I said they downgraded at QB and WR.

You also may want to do some research. I've historically been one of the most harsh critics of our moves around here. You sound like yet another person who fell in love with some names and hasn't even bothered to consider how we've improved or how who we got fits.

You've got grass is greener syndrome just like so many others. The Cowboys addressed every issue with this team and improved everywhere they really needed to.

The biggest issues with this team last year were OL depth (fixed), poor coverage by the linebackers (addressed). Not everything has to be addressed with bug names. Just ask the Patriots. The Cowboys are better than the Giants and honestly, it's not close.

The Giants had to improve just to be as good as the Cowboys were LAST year. They improved. Good for them, so did we.
Ya know TeX, that's exactly why I don't go all in with the mock draft game as it's bound to leave self inflicted lingering angst & mental trauma to some degree( seriously, however short or long term that may be,but it's clearly obvious that it does),,,sure, I'll check into players that are likely to be available when it's our turn at the clock & know the needs of the team but man ,it's an odds on certainty that the majority of those that are desired won't be the one's the team picks up,,,we had a good draft and you know it,only time will tell if it was a great drafto_O

we did. We traded Switzer straight up for Jihad Ward DT,RAIDERS. He is a young pup..interior DT. He is basically a better Maliek Collins with a mean streak.

Gawd I hated parting ways with Switz. But I get it. We quietly had a nice 3 days. We basically stayed put and took BPA on our board and filled needs. Nice job in the FO.

Yeah i dont know your post history but I would about bet you say this every year about our draft and the draft of our NFC east foes.
That's where u wrong@ CapnB. It gives me know pleasure nor joy in admitting this. I live in DC capn, I despise the skins as well as the giants. I'm just not that fan no more. Who looks@ the others as if there so beneath & we're flawless. I used to think like that but reality was the eye opener & if one removes himself from the bias standpoint when ur under that impression & look@ things from a face value perspective it's not hard to see. 23 years of these results are startling & u run out of excuses of why things are the way they are.
Ask yourself & take away ur biasness. Are we better than we were going into last year? Are our division rivals worse than they were last year? Ok why is it so hard for y'all to give credit to other teams. We all thought we had the draft of the century in 16& expected others to view as is so why is difficult to see someone else have a good draft & acknowledge it. I simply did, doesn't mean I love my team any less just means I'm mature enough to know if they did or not & they did honestly speaking. The giants & skins both have had a better draft than us. If u think I'm crazy, poll the pundits & see how many actually say we had a better draft than them. They far few in between cap trust.

The Giants got better. A lot better. The got a legit LT and then added Will Hernandez who is going to be a beast for years. What they did is keep Eli Manning safe enough so he won't be getting jumpy in the pocket. The Giants have excellent weapons on offense already and they added the best RB to come out of college in years. That too is going to help Manning. He may be 37 but they can get another year or two out of him now.

At the same time, I am not convinced their defense is anything bu ordinary. They lost JPP and their LBs are pretty average. The Giants will b in a few shootout this year. They will not b drafting #2 next year. They are way better than that.

The Commanders improved a little but not enough to challenge Philly and NY. The Cowboys did not improve much either, but they were already better than the Commanders and probably still are.

Overall, though, I agree, the Giants did a good job in the draft. Its pretty hard to screw it up when you ar picking 2nd in every round.
Your thinking is open, your not tied down to ur biases that preclude you from forming sound good thoughts. This says a lot about u creeper & it also speaks volumes to the many posters who think the opposite of this thinking.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder... I wanna preface my statement with that because I think it's fitting because I'm in total disagreement. I think this draft is our worst one since 12. On top of that I came away impressed by the Giants & the Skins draft haul they got. Unfortunately I think we take a back seat to them this year in the standings & that's mainly due to our complete off season. Overall grade a D+ ( d plus)
They're supporting Dak publicly by getting rid of Dez and drafting quick guys who separate. But they're also saying, there's a slight chance you may not work out with the qb pick.

I dont look at this team with bias. If they stink,I'll say so, if they have a bad draft like the one in 09 ill say so. I'm always hopeful. But for the most part im not the grass is always greener on the other side type of dude which seems to happen to a lot of fans when it comes to the Cowboys during free agency as well as during the draft. Every year I see post where everyone else has an awesome draft and we suck. The Giants had a good draft. And they should have from where they were picking. Their first two picks were really, really good. As far as the skins? The RB from LSU who had been mocked to go early in the first rd and they get him in the third? or was it 4th? Either way, there is a reason why he dropped and everyone said its a mental issue with him. The skins supposedly knocked out of the park last year as well. yeah not so much. I just dont think they had a great draft. The Giants had an extremely good draft. The eagles, nope. Not at all.

Maturity has nothing to do with seeing a draft for what it is. But you're giving this draft... a draft where everyone but I think charlie casserly (who btw hates every draft we have) in the media that ive seen really likes our draft. We got a Linebacker in the first who has been drawing comparisons to a HOF linebacker, we get an Olineman who many had as a top half of the first rd talent with our 2nd pick and a WR with our third pick who by all comparisons isnt a fall off from the WR chosen before him. And a QB who some had as a day 2 pick in Mike White. But you gave this draft a D-? I just dont see how anyone can say that. But im guessing they didnt choose the guys you wanted so they had a sucky draft? Was that any closer to a reason why you gave them a D-

Right, ur correct in that aspect champ. What does that say about a Quarterback when they have to results to those measures to quantify that person being the QB. I'm jus saying call me pessimistic but I don't look@ that as a ringing endorsement but hey to each it's own

I'm disappointed in the draft because I wasn't excited. Winning is number one, but sports is entertainment. I want to be entertained too.
With that being said, the draft wasn't bad. It was solid. We address our 3 biggest needs. Time will tell if they went from huge weaknesses to huge strengths or just acceptable. I think our line goes back to being number 1 in the league, so we shouldn't complain about that. Gallup looks like he could be really good, but I still want a deep threat in the starting lineup. Tavon and Thompson have juice but they'll never start. having a burner start helps in a lot of ways. you never know when the team will go deep. You have the respect the speed on every play. When they're 3rd and 4th receivers, they still help but it can make you predictable. Gallup is still good though. VanderEsh, id be lying if I said I'm sold. I hope it works out, but I keep having visions of body carpenter. The qb sounds good. he has good traits. He's accurate and can go deep. If every other picks flopped some how, I'm confident we'll run the ball and protect Dak, so that's great.

CapnB I will admit probably cuz I'm just coming to the realization that that maybe truth or a little truth. Let me explain. It's not that they didn't take guys I wanted because that's not realistic & probable. It's that they don't take anyone that me(personally)& the so called experts( pundits) scouted and evaluated. I may not like the player but we all can guestimate about where a player should be selected in every round. I've been doing this (scouting) since we went 5-11 three straight seasons with Campo as our coach. This organization always picks a player like Torrance Armstrong Jr in the 4th round that nobody had on their draft boards@ the spot where we would pick them. They constantly do this think of Matt Johnson the safety we got ironically in the 4th round & they never pan out CapnB, well maybe one in Hitchens but this thinking is never rewarded like we're smarter than everyone. It's frustrating & cause me to throw remotes@ Flat screens which can be expensive if it routinely happens;'-) but that's one of the reason CapnB.

Also I appreciate how we can have different opinions about a matter but be civil & respectful. I enjoyed hearing ur spill on it& it's all relative because@ the end of day ur a Cowboys fan, I'm a Cowboys fan& it's all conjecture until the season starts and we'll see who's right or wrong:;'-)) hopefully I'll be here.

.
Not even close. Barclay played poorly in big games and his numbers went way down as teams started focusing on stopping him.
