When unproven it usually pays to trade small for big. Especially when small isn't an elite athlete.

Switzer often looked small AND slow.

Switzer didn’t show much as a receiver and other than one good return he didn’t do much as a returner. He was taking too many chances on returns from deep in the end zone, not even getting to the 20 yard line.

He never even got a legit shot to be a WR. Our staff is clueless how to utilize the players they have. Can't really do anything as a WR when you aren't getting the reps and playing time you need. Especially with so many targets going to Dez and Witten. With them 2 now gone, I thought Switzer would be able to be used more. And now we trade him after just drafting him last year?

This puzzles me. Jihad is not exactly a RKG.

Says perhaps they may cut David Irving if this investigation results in another suspension for him.

Tavon is the replacement for Lucky Whitehead. Don’t know if they can get much more out of him. Lucky is a JAG but he was pretty good on that jet sweep. Switzer was terrible at it and that play was no factor for defenses. Dallas is not the most creative offensive and I really think they wanted a threat for that play.

Hopefully they can find other ways to get him the ball. I know Rams had similar weapons but with Zeke and our line, maybe getting him the ball in space will create some big plays.

I will never understand this team, but hey, what do I know.

Ward is trash, they have no idea what Switzer is.

I liked Switz but he wasn’t going to be utilized right with Beasley here and the teams reliance on a TE. It’s smart for them to move him for something they like instead of letting him rot on the bench like Bennett did.
Put this way I tend to agree with this trade

The coaching staff made this trade. Switzer became redundant. A guy who consistently made the wrong call on kick returns, either letting it go for a touchback or trying to run it back from deep and not even getting within yodeling distance of the 20.

For a guy who was the 44th pick just 2 years ago I remember people raving how the Raiders got a good one there. Both are young guys and I'm Ok with this with the WR's we drafted/traded for this year. WR corp is not exactly hurting from the additions this year and Switzer leaving leaves no gaping hole unfilled.

If Ward turns into something on the DL under THIS coaching staff, this will be a great trade.

The problem with this guy has been health. I'm Ok with rolling the dice to get a guy who, if he starts staying healthy, can make real contributions on the DLine. We took a gamble a few years back on a oft-injured Bears player named Marc Colombo who turned out to be a pretty damn decent player for us.

For some guys, the health and the light does not click until year 3 or 4.

Remember all the 'experts' on here who said it was time to cut DLaw after Year Three of nothing much?

I couldnt give less of u know what about Ryan Switzer but they're celebrating getting rid of Ward on the Raiders forums. Wouldn't be surprised if he is cut before week 1.

I love it when people make unprovable claims to disparage others.

Switzer missed all of TC. We were already 4 deep at WR with Dez, TWill, Bease, and Butler. The Cowboys know how to use Beasley and they are about as similar as players get in terms of skillset.

This coaching staff does a great job at disparaging themselves.

I hope Ward becomes an all pro because he is a Cowboy and I hope this coaching staff proves me wrong but they haven't give me any reason to have any confidence in them.

You can just as easily spin that into:

why would a team trade a 2nd round big for a 4th round small? unless they know he's garbage

What makes you say Ward isn’t a RKG? I haven’t heard anything negative about his personality? But maybe I missed it.

Collins and Price at 1-tech

Irving, Ward, Crawford at 3-tech (Crawford could end up rotating at left end)

Ealy and Datone Jones also might end up competing for 3-tech snaps.
Jones played 1 technique for us last year and was far superior to Price. Just saying. I won’t be surprised if they see Ward as a 1 technique.
