Agree

My problem with this pick was that Tim Settle was sitting there who is a known commodity from a great program at a position of real need (1T DT) and could likely start day 1

Hopefully Armstrong works out but he seems like one of those players that no one knows about and your team picks him and suddenly team message boards fill up with posts about how "he is growing on me after watching tape"
I liked him from day 1 and was shocked we took him. He will be a 7-10 sack guy in the league. The funny thing is he was projected 2nd round on nfl.com until the combine when they changed it to round 4. Some people don’t follow the draft like they claim to

I hope you're correct

I liked Settle but we as fans and the media must be missing something because he fell much further in the draft than most predicted.

At some point after each draft some info comes out that fans/media didn't know or maybe teams just think he'll get too fat.

Day 1 he’ll be an upgrade over Mayowa. We got better on defense this offseason.

Ealy is an upgrade over Mayowa...I'll be surprised if Armstrong even dresses much his rookie year. Seems like he's either our 8th or 9th DL on the depth chart

3 LBs are same age in the draft all coming out at the same time. Lawrence Taylor,Derrick Thomas, and Terrell Suggs. BE HONEST who is your 1st choice and 2nd and 3rd choice.. This is not about character.this is based on their playing ABILITY. You know it, Suggs is the last pick you would choose.
LOL. You just compared Terrell Suggs to two Hall of Famers and asked us to pick. Credibility is leaking rapidly.

We had guys like Ross and Neal playing heavy minutes. Armstrong will play enough

If Charles Tapper is not injured or Randy Gregory stops playing Bob Marley songs and playing his favorite musical instrument which is a BONG. That Dorance Armstrong is going to beat them straight out for a roster spot??? WHO WANTS TO BET ME????BECAUSE IT WON'T HAPPEN. ARMSTRONG STINKS!!!
Please stop typing in all caps. It weakens your already frail points.

A lot of posters have a gimmick, something they want to be known for on a message board. The OP is trying to carve out the space where he called "Armstrong a bust" before anyone else. If he ends up being right, then he gets to puff his chest out always about it. If he's wrong, he will double down and create excuses for why he was wrong just to bask in his "forum fame". Win win in his mind. Troll alert. You know, how like Risen does with Hitchens.

I know you aren't a fan of Broaddus, but he all along said that the Cowboys did not like him. He's inconsistent, question his motor. Broaddus gave him a 4th round grade.

Brugler also gave him a 4th round grade.
Weakness: Weight needs monitored to keep from ballooning out of control…plays tall and top-heavy…anchor strength comes and goes, especially when he fails to drop his hips at contact…too often ends up where the blocker wants…unreliable gap discipline…relies on his effort over instincts or technique…active, but wild limbs and finds himself off balance…pass rush lacks thought or purpose…fatigues and play falls off later in games…still learning blocking schemes…

They are both DT’s and that was after Paea and Price were out for the year. Armstrong is a DE and will have to prove to be better than Ealy, Taco and Crawford to get playing time.

DLaw
Irving
Crawford
Taco
Collins
Ward
Ealy

As of right now I think that is he main DL rotation with Armstrong and Price fighting to be the 8th guy dressed on game day. Will depend on how many snaps Crawford gets at DT whether they dress a DE or DT. Even if they dress 9 DL Armstrong will still struggle to get snaps. Which isn’t a bad thing because Armstrong needs a lot of development.

What are your thoughts on Datone Jones?

So people aren’t allowed to have their own opinion? They are supposed to just bow down and like everything the almighty Cowboys front office do? Don’t get me wrong, OP could have expressed his opinion in a lot more reasonably and coherently, but critiquing people for putting their opinions out there is ridiculous.

Not claiming to be an expert or a professional, but as a person who does a lot of reasearch for the draft I think Armstrong was a bad pick and won’t work out as well. Guess that makes me a gimmick too...People who can’t formulate their own opinions and just go with everything the team does is a lot more of gimmick in my book.

He’s a wildcard for me. I actually liked what I saw from him at DT and the pedigree is obviously there being a former 1st round pick. I wouldn’t mind seeing him make the roster at all. Just a matter of what position he fits best. Is he getting big and strong enough to play 1 Tech? Or is he going to struggle to make the roster as another 3 tech/oversized DE tweener? The trade for Ward might have made it difficult for him as well as they seem to be pretty similar

Good info. Seems we have a lot of DL prospects and a limited amount of seats. Of course another "hat in the ring" is Gregory and what becomes of him.

It isn't about not expressing your opinion. Its when you repeatedly ask for answers to refute your opinion and then ignore them as if they weren't said, your agenda is revealed. No one stated the OP couldn't state his opinion.

You have to be trolling at this point.

It has been explained to you how they changed scheme. He was in a 1 gap scheme in 2016 and got 10 sacks, a bunch of FF and TFL. They had some people hurt and so Indiana asked him to put on weight 2 gap and read and react. He got to play undersized 3-4 DE.

What type of scheme do we run? A 1 gap or 2 gap scheme?

He does not know the difference in a 1 gap vs 2 gap scheme. He might not know the difference in a 3-4 vs 4-3.

You think it’s an indictment of Suggs that I'd take LT and D Thomas ahead of him? Suggs is still going to the HOF. And he ran 4.8.

All opinions are not created equal and stating your opinion does not preclude you from having it examined or argued.

After touting your studying the drat, i expected some insight somewhere in this thread as you why you thought DA was a bad pick. I found nada.
