Is mortgaging the future to save your current coach a wise move?

I'm not against trading for Thomas, but saving Garrett's job wouldn't be on my list of reasons to do it.

Specifically on that 2nd round pick in 2019, would you do it?
I would consider it. I would do it for a third in a heartbeat. 3-5 years of an all-pro safety is not easy to come by. It would be better use of a draft pick than what we've gotten so far from Jaylon and Gregory (both of whom I am still rooting for to realize their potential, btw). Even with the salary he'd command, I'd do it. All this young talent is nice, but having a few old pros - particularly with the ability of Thomas - could be the spark we need to ignite this sucker.

And that's why we're stuck with him. Jerry won't admit he was wrong.

Yep, the worst thing to happen to the franchise was Jerry announcing to the world that Garrett would be the next big coach in football. That pretty much sealed any hope that we would win anything. Stephen may want Garrett gone but it's going to be a drawn out fight for him to win that.

8 years with the San Francisco 49ers.
2 years with the Philadelphia Eagles.
1 year each with the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals.

Can someone tell me why his three years in Dallas seemingly motivates Terrell Owens to talk ALL THE TIME about the Cowboys?

Come on, we're the Cowboys. Anything you say about the Cowboys will go off. And he loves attention. Why would he talk about the Bills??

Good point.

Why not talk about the 49ers?

Why not talk about the Eagles?

And he does not love attention. Owens has always been obsessed with attention.

Because the 49ers are not axing players to protect a mediocre coach.

Because the Eagles just won the SB and also see above reason for not talking about the 49ers.

For the same reason everybody else talks about the Cowboys and not the Bills, Bengals, Eagles and 49ers.

It’s not complicated.

TO might very well be a locker room cancer and all that but at the end of the day, the dude understands football and what it takes to win.

Garrett wants to win on raw talent and basic schemes with its main emphasis on a powerful run game. That’s an 8-10 Win recipe but it typically fizzles out in the postseason when u face superior competition..

How did I get sucked into this dead horse topic? Lol
maybe by this guy

I can't totally dismiss it, but again, I'm not making his TE highest paid safety in the league if that's what he's now going for.

Even at $10 million a year, the cost is high, especially when you consider the depressed market for the safety position otherwise.

But if he's looking for $12 or $13 million a year, I'm passing, even if he is arguably the best or second best in the league. Just too much to pay.

I’m a T.O fan, but T.O is grasping. He said Romo and Witten conspired against him, he said JG got rid of him when it was actually Stephen Jones. You have to take what he says with a grain of salt.

If that was the case then dez would have still been here. Jerry is nowhere near as loyal to Garrett as he was dez.

Garrett's day will come really soon and Jerry won't give 0 **** about it.

Oh I have no doubt that Jerry is not as loyal to Garrett. But Jerry does possess an ego big enough that he won't ever admit when he is wrong. See when it came out and hired Garrett he basically threw a stake in the ground and now if he fires him he loses face. Hence the rearranging of the deck chairs on the Titanic.

That seems fair to me. I’d probably pay the going rate for a top FS if that’s what it took but don’t knock anyone for disagreeing.
