It's always funny seeing fans feel like they have a certain level of ownership over players and their actions.
It's called "trying to compensate via delusion."

Or that somehow their opinion of them on a message boards is the gospel & their whatever that poster thinks they are...it's amusing man& it's a insight on those types;:'-)It's always funny seeing fans feel like they have a certain level of ownership over players and their actions.
Don't blame him at all for not going. They're looking to make money off the players, why should he contribute to that?

Terrell Owens, who was selected for enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year, has declined an invitation to attend the induction ceremony, he said Thursday.
"While I am incredibly appreciative of this opportunity, I have made the decision to publicly decline my invitation to attend the induction ceremony in Canton," Owens said in a statement released Thursday. "... After visiting Canton earlier this year, I came to the realization that I wish to celebrate what will be one of the most memorable days of my life, elsewhere."
Owens, who said he has let the Hall of Fame know of his intentions, added he will announce "where and when" he will celebrate his induction at a later date.
"We are disappointed but will respect Terrell's decision not to participate in the enshrinement," Hall of Fame president David Baker said in a statement. "While unprecedented, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the nearly 5,000 volunteers and the entire community are committed to celebrating the excellence of the Class of 2018 that will kick off the NFL's 99th season."
Baker said the Pro Football Hall of Fame would have no further comment on Owens' decision.
I don't blame T.O. one bit:
#1 Regardless of his antics, he should have been a first ballot entry
#2. With all of the dissention his prima donna attitude caused, he probably felt that his presenter would fake it.
#3. No matter what he said in his speech he would face severe criticism and be memed to death.
#4. He will always have the satisfaction of being a bigger A-hole then the voters who held him out so long...He gets the last laugh
#5. Even if the Hall votes him out, he still wins.
#6. He sets a precedent, a true legend for real....nobody will ever forget this.
I bet they change their rules now about future inductees and their availability unless they are disabled or dead!!!!
Oh well, great player who nobody really understood, hate the way it ended but that is all....
Let me be the first to like ur post. Now I may warn u, Your thinking is not popular on this board. This board is full of.........well just look @ how long some of them been doing it& what they say. it will give u some kind of insight on these types;;'-)I don't blame T.O. one bit:

I think this is exactly why he is not going. It's not about HIM, it's about the class, the people are there not for HIM but for others as well. He would have share the spot light with others, both present and past HOF players. The whole night would not be all about TO. So he is going to do his own thing so it is all about HIM. This is why it took so long for him to get in. After all, "I love me some me" says it all.
I disagree. I remember how toxic he was on every team. Being a team player is a big part of being a great player. He failed miserably in that category.I kinda understand. Lockerroom shenanigans aside, he should have been a lock for first ballot for what he did on the field which is what I thought they were voting for in the first place. He's returning petty for petty.
How is it classless? He declined and invitation. He stands by what he believes and thinks for himself.
Look@ this man word: Stupid, Emotional basketcase, stupid decision, dumb ones, head case, lol...& His thesis is "why it took so long for him to get in" You think that may be the problem. It takes a 1st balloteer Hall of famer years to get in cuz of what exactly?! But yet Kurt Warner is in & all he ever did was get benched & shipped out of town in favor of Mark Bulger& to only get the same treatment in New York & be on his way to the same in Arizona before a injury to great Matt Leinart. Yeah I get ur point RonAnother stupid and emotional decision by an emotional basket case. IF Owens wondered why it took so long to get into the HOF look not further then this stupid decision he is making now in a long line of dumb ones. Par for the course for head case Owens.
I am sure the writers are all regret voting for this clown now.
Article said : it was a firstOther than dead people that get inducted. I wonder if there's been anyone else not to show up for their own induction?
How does he get the last laugh? This is the biggest day of his life and biggest honor and he is pissing all over it. Its like sticking your middle finger to the people that are honoring you. Its not the HOF fault, its the voters. Taking it out on the HOF is another misguided decision for basket case Owens.
Most people are laughing at Owens right now. The moron continues to be the moron. As usual, its all about Owens. Me some me!!!!
No its not. You are calling him classless on the basis of your definition of classy. I don't believe he is classless to decline an invitation to a ceremony where he disagrees with the process or what they believe in. I can understand why he might feel it would be "fake" for him to attend. How is it classless NOT to show up at the invitation for your own enshrinement/induction/honoring? The one that you've been *****ing about? Is this a trick question?

maybe he's got other plans for his lifeHe will regret the decision. He could have used the opportunity to be humble and show mature growth which could have been a springboard to a career on TV talking about football. To me, this shows he hasn’t matured and still thinks none of his issues were his fault. It’s a shame. He could be doing what Irvin and Moss are doing now. Making money, hanging around current players, and still being a part of the game.
No class. With all due respect, this reeks of cowardice. Sometimes life presents adversity, vulnerable moments and awkward situations. It's in these moments that your integrity or lack there of really shine through. I really powerful and heartfelt speech could have really made an impression. I think this is the wrong move.
