He had a very good excuse for missing his drug test. "I was too stoned to drive and didn't want to endanger no human beings".

LOL -- Was that Irving's actual claim in his defense? Surely, it's just something you made up in jest. (Inquiring minds need to know.) I would hope he'll appeal that decision but if that's his defense, he'd better be prepared to serve his time! His lawyer had best be more creative than that. ;)

The league's substance abuse policy has some language built-in for flexibility. Contacting the medical advisor overseeing a testing session might provide a player some latitude for re-scheduling test(s). My question is whether Irving took advantage of this and his medical advisor was rigid with him about his testing OR he did not contact his medical advisor on one or more occasions.

Cut him. It seems he can't learn from his mistakes.
They can't, Quick, they need him. He's the 2nd best DL they have.

I cannot imagine how Marinelli reacted when he heard. It seems the poor guy cannot start a season without one of his starters out on a D that has not been very good with all of them in.

And welcome Richard, he wants to play press coverage with his CB's and will now be missing the 2nd best pass rusher. This could be an ugly start of the season.

That isn't true at all ............pressures lead directly to turnovers and his role on our D isn't necessarily to get sacks

Obviously he cannot be easily replaced

Melton
Hardy
McClain
Thornton
Collins
Jones
Selvie
Mincey
Mayowa
Tapper
etc....
Why is this even an argument? He had 7 sacks in 8 games last year. He's gets more than pressures.

If that was the case, the 'passive' union should be red hot...

So out of curiosity in terms of the draft what should they have done diffferently? They had Vea high on their board he was long gone and quite frankly LB is and was a bigger need IMO.
They didn’t know Irving was going to miss drug test. They picked up Ward and I believe they have high hopes for Price.

You can’t fix it all in 1 draft or 2 with all the holes they had. I don’t blame organization at all. I think we’ll be fine. Crawford and Collins is next man up
You know what? This is just an excuse. We have been hearing this copout over and over and over.

Yes, you can't fix it all in one draft if you draft badly, that is true. Soooooo, when was the last time we made a valid attempt to fix the NT position? Malik was nice, but he's not a NT.

What should we have done? Several options. Settle in the 4th.

They're on record as saying they do not want a NT, that doesn't fit Marinelli's D. I agree with you and have always wanted that OL eatin' monster in the middle as step 1 in not only stopping the run but affecting the play calling.

What happens when Lee is out with the run D? Right up the gut.

We never dumped him because it would cost us too much money after jerry gave him that awful extension. Those other guys are the same, just guys. Selvie and mcclain were just as good as DT's. Collins is a better 3t than crawford easily. and mayowa, tapper if healthy just as good at end. Hardy was a beast just couldn't get it together.

The money comes off automatically and in most cases is kills any future guarantees

The player loses 4/17ths of his base pay and 4/17ths of any prorated signing bonus allotment

Irving will lose 680K
I just saw this,Thank you.
