FYI, about 28 other NFL fan bases complain constantly about their head coaches daily, too.

I left out Carroll and Switzer. Caroll bombed and did great later, separate list.
I refuse to use Switzer. He not only inherited a SB team, but the players basically coached themselves.

Switzer is one of the more underappreciated coaches around.

And it's funny that today, people give Garrett a pass because hey, he's only the head coach and its up to the players to work hard, execute and win games. But when Switzer comes up.......... oh, he wasn't a good coach. The players won all those games.

And a lot of them are right. Their head coaches aren't good enough.

Don't put words in my mouth, I never said Switzer wasn't a good coach. I'm also not giving JG any sort of pass, have you even been listening?
I also never said the players won all of those games. I give the position coaches more credit than the HC.

I like Switzer as a person and he was better suited for college. It was clearly obvious that the NFL wasn't for him. When a cast of very reputable players calls him out for various things you're opinion of him means very little to me.

And here comes the lame Landry comparison again.
There are tons of other examples, too.

If not Garrett, who? Which re-tread who took a team to the promised land do you want?

Jerry is the problem. Fix that, and you're good.

Switzer succeeded in Dallas because he was the opposite of Jimmy. Jimmy was largely an authoritarian whereas Switzer was definitely not. Going from authoritarian to relaxed will result in short-term progress, but a lax atmosphere is not a recipe for long term success, human nature being what it is. It's why Wade had short-term success after the uber-authoritarian Big Tuna, but soon flamed out.

And what are Garrett's accomplishments? Well?

You said he had proved to be a better coach, and all anyone has to do is look at records as evidence that isn't the case at the NFL level.

Tons of examples of what? Coaches that had limited to no success for 6-7 years and then blossomed into great coaches?

And who says you have to go with a re-tread if you fire Garrett?

Jerry isn't going anywhere. Using him as a crutch to keep Garrett around if he continues to scuffle is bizarre.

You could easily be right in that assessment, I liked Wade Phillips ,I think he was a bit overwhelmed by the demanding pressures placed upon him*same with Dave Campo* I wish Wade would've just remained running his forte' as the defensive mastermind,GARRETT weasled in thru calculated observation & the study of powerful mind control techniques,so far it seems to have been working out for him:thumbup:

I think he's saying Landry wouldn't have been given the time to build a team in today's era the way he was in the early 60's.

Possibly if Landry inherited a full team that had a franchise QB, one of the league's elite defenders, a Hall of Fame TE, etc.

And he probably wouldn’t have. There was much support that he needed to go after the ‘64 season, but Clint responded with a contract extension (10 year if I remember right). It would be much worse in today’s social media world.

I agree - the circumstances were different, not just the era. Landry was hired before the team even had it's first draft.

It’s simple.

Jason Garrett is not a better head coach than Nick Saban. It’s embarrassing for anyone to try to argue differently.

In other words, if you had to chose one to coach the Cowboys for the next 4 years, choosing Garrett would be hilarious.

No it’s embarrassing that you think he’s a better coach than Garrett who coaches on a higher level, and had more success at the highest level. You look foolish to say otherwise. I can’t believe how anyone would say otherwise...lol
