I left out Carroll and Switzer. Caroll bombed and did great later, separate list.
I refuse to use Switzer. He not only inherited a SB team, but the players basically coached themselves.
FYI, about 28 other NFL fan bases complain constantly about their head coaches daily, too.
Don't put words in my mouth, I never said Switzer wasn't a good coach. I'm also not giving JG any sort of pass, have you even been listening?Switzer is one of the more underappreciated coaches around.
And it's funny that today, people give Garrett a pass because hey, he's only the head coach and its up to the players to work hard, execute and win games. But when Switzer comes up.......... oh, he wasn't a good coach. The players won all those games.
I'm glad Tom Landry didn't coach in modern times. He'd be Dave Campo in Cowboys lore. And a lot of them are right. Their head coaches aren't good enough.

There are tons of other examples, too.And here comes the lame Landry comparison again.

really ask who was it Miami if they want him back..bad memorys guys, he punked out and ran..who next the ex AR coiach Bobby Petrino that did the same..you want him as well, neither did anything close to garrett and ran from the challenge..I ain't watching an hour but wish he was our HC
Maybe. But he's proven he's a much better coach than Garrett between all the pointless clapping.
And what are Garrett's accomplishments? Well?
There are tons of other examples, too.
If not Garrett, who? Which re-tread who took a team to the promised land do you want?
Jerry is the problem. Fix that, and you're good.
You could easily be right in that assessment, I liked Wade Phillips ,I think he was a bit overwhelmed by the demanding pressures placed upon him*same with Dave Campo* I wish Wade would've just remained running his forte' as the defensive mastermind,GARRETT weasled in thru calculated observation & the study of powerful mind control techniques,so far it seems to have been working out for himSwitzer succeeded in Dallas because he was the opposite of Jimmy. Jimmy was largely an authoritarian whereas Switzer was definitely not. Going from authoritarian to relaxed will result in short-term progress, but a lax atmosphere is not a recipe for long term success, human nature being what it is. It's why Wade had short-term success after the uber-authoritarian Big Tuna, but soon flamed out.
What is this even supposed to mean? In no era would Landry be Campo.I'm glad Tom Landry didn't coach in modern times. He'd be Dave Campo in Cowboys lore.

I think he's saying Landry wouldn't have been given the time to build a team in today's era the way he was in the early 60's.

Possibly if Landry inherited a full team that had a franchise QB, one of the league's elite defenders, a Hall of Fame TE, etc.
It’s simple.
Jason Garrett is not a better head coach than Nick Saban. It’s embarrassing for anyone to try to argue differently.
In other words, if you had to chose one to coach the Cowboys for the next 4 years, choosing Garrett would be hilarious.
