I think Lincoln Riley is going to either be the next coach for the Browns or the Cowboys.

That guy wins every year at Stanford. Teams always play hard and smart. He runs a pro style offense. Very, very smart. I like him. Sorry you disagree.
He's a good coach.

But name the last 3 coaches that went from college to pro and had success.

I like him too.

Not sure he would work for Jerry though.

He's also had chances apparently to move to the NFL and turned them down. I believe the 49ers approached him and that was an ideal spot for him as he wouldn't have to uproot his family.

He chose to stay at Stanford.

What if some of you get your wish and Garrett is fired? Who do you want to realistically take his place?

What if we put Chaz Green over Jadeveon Clowney when we play Houston this year? Who would you want to realistically take his place?

Some have failed but some have done well like Harbaugh, Carroll, and O’Brien. I’m not sure that the “from college” guys fail at any different of a rate as the guys hired off of NFL staffs.

- Jim Harbaugh took San Fran to 3 straight NFC title games and a super bowl after Stanford.

- Tom Coughlin's first head coaching job was at BC. Then took over an expansion team in Jax and had them in the AFC Title game in only his 2nd year. Went on to win 2 SBs in NY.

- Pete Carroll bombed out in the NFL, turned USC around and then won a SB in Seattle.

We have Jimmy Johnson. Also, Bill Walsh's first head gig was at Stanford for a couple of year, then went onto coach San Fran.

As someone noted right above, there probably isn't much of a difference in the hit rate of hiring a college coach for the NFL as opposed to picking a career coordinator or position coach, for example.

Carroll, Harbaugh are 2 obvious ones. Performance is idiosyncratic not driven by where the coaches came from. Lot of NFL coordinators have failed. I think it boils down to the person. In my opinion there are not many other coaches around 40 years old that has been as solid as Shaw. This is my opinion.

Who was the last College coach to come in and win a Super Bowl in his first stint?

I may not want to get my wish. The last time I wished for a head coach to be gone we got rid of Wade Phillips and got stuck with Jason Garrett.

true- they may bring in his Brother to replace him, Mr. High and tight!

Since we’re fantasizing here (barring something like a 1-15 total collapse, Garrett will not be fired as long as Jerry has a say), I’d go with Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh — hands down.

Long career as a pro QB, a former pro coach with Super Bowl experience and, because of his college coaching career, he might be more able than the average coach to identify college players who would likely succeed in his pro system — a skill that would be invaluable on draft day or when assessing undrafted FAs.

Jerry isn't paying a head coach.

There are 8 coaches in the NFL with a higher salary than Garrett. All of them have been to and/or won (at least) one Super Bowl.

The notion that Jerry wouldn't fork over another $5 million for a guy like Belichik - Jerry has that much under his couch cushions - makes very little sense.

No one is good enough for our fan base.

That's not true at all. Many here feel Kris Richards fits the bill for our next defensive minded HC and he should be
allowed to pick his replacement and all the offensive coaches. I like the cut of his jib and I think he will strike fear
in the hearts of his players instead of the constant coddling that takes place today.
