Wentz may be better than Dak...

If so, Dak needs better (and not worse) WRs/TEs than what the Eagles have.

Maybe.

But one can make a very sane and logical argument that Wentz may be better than Dak, and if so, the Cowboys need a better QB themselves.

I thought this was the year that suppose to bust the myth of the sophomore slump. Looks like it wasn't a slump so far.
Now all we need is great players to make a backup look like an average starter. smh. That doesn't even make sense. Let's get the best offensive line, wr's and te's to make a backup qb average. Then we pay him and the super players and watch the defense crumble even more with less money to spend on them. I love my pet players.

Of course there is more wrong with this team than Dak. I think other than some of the fringers who just think it's all Dak, most criticizing Dak's play admit there are other problems here beyond just Dak.

But again, you do yourself no favors when you say bring in a great QB and this passing game will still be bad. Whether you want to admit it or not, that's basically comparing Dak to the better QBs in the league and just suggesting that if Dak had what Brees had, he'd be playing like Brees.

I can say with 100% certainty that if you dropped Aaron Rodgers under center here or Tom Brady or Drew Brees or even a guy like Phillip Rivers or Russell Wilson, the passing game would be better. The offense would be better. I think it's preposterous to argue otherwise as some have.

It is highly unlikely those QBs will ever play for the Cowboys.

It is like stating if the Mavs before 2011 had Duncan instead of Dirk... the Mavs may have won some championships.

Instead of whining about Dirk’s weaknesses in the low post and on D... and how much better defender Duncan was... the Mavs eventually complemented Dirk with Tyson Chandler... and the Mavs finally won a championship.

Instead of whining about how much better other teams’ elite QBs are relative to Dak, complement Dak with some receiver talent that collectively overcome or reduce these weaknesses for the team to achieve success.

Elite players are hard to find and acquire.

The best part of some of your Dak support is when you guys try to trash other QBs in order to make Dak look better.

It's embarrassing for you guys.
yes it's embarrassing but they do not see it, see below is Wentz's #'s even under pressure, (if you watched the game) they look just like Dak's, most weeks right. (NOT) just wait the Dakies will give all the excuses of why Wentz sucks and Dak is really better and you know cheaper too.
Passing
Player Comp / Att Yds TDs Int Sack Rtg
Carson Wentz 26/36 278 3 0 1 122.2
Not sure what games they are watching Oh yea don't you remember that game in 2016.

Well along those lines, I'd trade Dak right now for Wentz, Goff, Mayfield for sure.
Definitely mayfield but he's a #1 overall pick. wentz meh goff meh. I think they are very similar qbs. Look how those qbs looked without the front office dumping every available dollar into the team. They both have very good defenses as well that get turnovers.

Aaron Rodgers sat behind a HOF Brett Favre for 3 years, playing in a few games. Dak was thrown to the wolves in his first year. Had a great offensive line and an NFL rushing champion his first year. No question, he didn't have to be great his first year, just "drive the bus".

Then adversity came, no Zeke, defensive coordinators found weaknesses. His play fell off. Now is it due solely to Dak's physical and mental abilities? Or has he got potential, but doesn't have the coaches to develop them?

That's not an easy question to answer. Can't go back in time and give him Norv Turner as a quarterback coach. And bad habits, once learned, are more difficult to un-learn than good habits are to learn the first time.

Regardless, if he doesn't make it in the NFL, we'll always wonder what could have been....

LOL.

Dirk was an elite player. Yes, he needed a better player around him to win but he still, himself, was an elite NBA player. If Dirk was playing more like a middle level NBA player, adding Chandler wouldn't have been the difference. Shoot even LeBron has needed to get some better players around him to win. But nonetheless, he's still the greatest player on the planet right now.

You wonder why people are ripping you here and this is an example. You just kind of compared Dirk to Dak. You realize how silly some of your analogies sound right?

I want the FO to give Dak better weapons to drive the bus again and to upgrade the D... since I want the Cowboys to contend.

I remember during the 90s opposing team fans will claim their teams had a better QB, WR, and RB or these put up better stats than the Triplets.

For example, Barry Sanders would have rushed for 2,000-3,000 yards a season behind the Cowboys OL.

I did not care that other teams may had better individual players with better stats because collectively... the Triplets and Cowboys D were winning SBs and the team of the 90s.

difference between comparing and showing that even the greats get called out for .......
But you know that when you make that comparison, the implication is that Dak is the SAME as Rodgers, i.e., Rodgers does it and so can Dak.
And Dak is NOT the same as Rodgers. We interpret Rodgers' mistakes from a PERSPECTIVE that Dak does not have.
That's what many of you FAIL TO UNDERSTAND.
You're basically minimizing the concerns fans have about Dak's accuracy by comparing him to Rodgers and Rodgers' MOMENTARY inaccuracy and IGNORING the fact that Rodgers has throughout his career been ACCURATE.
We don't question whether Rodgers can improve because he has done it before and has shown that he can be consistently accurate.
Dak HAS NOT shown the same consistency.
Therefore, the comparison lacks PERSPECTIVE and proper INTERPRETATION while evaluating the two quarters in the CONTEXT of their careers.

Both Wentz and Goff are more talented than Dak.

It really is preposterous that people are trying to argue otherwise. Both are on an upward trajectory while Dak is actually going down.

It doesn't help when Dak fans make comments like how the offense might not better if a top QB was playing here instead of Dak. Whether they want to admit it or not, that's making a comparison between QBs. Legend just above used an example of the Mavs and Dirk and how they didn't win until Dirk got a couple of better players around him.

True. But before they got better players around him, Dirk still was showing he was an elite NBA player. Is Dak showing himself to be an elite NFL QB whose team success is being held back by bad players? Of course not. We are a mediocre to bad team BECAUSE OF Dak (and other things as well).

These comparisons don't make much sense at all.

maybe Troy can have another qb school and will tell little "jimmy" prescott, he might want to consider becoming a TE.

The Spurs and Rockets fans use to badger Mavs fans by showing empty championship trophy cases and calling Dirk... Dirk NoRingzki...

Some Mavericks fans wanted Dallas to trade Dirk for Shaq (before he was traded to Miami)... since they believed he could not lead Dallas to a championship. I always wanted the Mavs to find a good defensive center to pair with Dirk.

Lebron James who has been the best player for a while in the NBA had to go and play with other talent to win a few championships.

Dak is not an elite QB currently and needs to be paired with top talent.

Elite QBs like elite players in the NBA are rare and more potential elite players end up as busts.

That's also called reading things into a comment that aren't there:rolleyes:
The human mind performs functions beyond reading. Reading involves interpretation, i.e., deciphering the meaning behind words and what they're actually saying. Why make comparisons? What is the purpose of the comparison? Why choose Rodgers and not Eli Manning?

All these are functions of higher intelligence. If reading were simply the issue, we would all read the same thing and come to the same conclusions.
For example, Jack hold hands with Sally is a simple statement that can be read. With no interpretation, we have the simple action.
What "holding hands" means is a matter of intelligence because now we're having to interpret what hand holding means in this situation.

I appreciate Legend's demeanor and his ability to remain mature when people are attacking his comparison.
But he knew why he chose Aaron Rodgers for the comparison. And I contend it wasn't simply just to show that Aaron Rodgers is suffering from inaccuracy. He did it because he wants to make a statement about Dak's performance.
All we're doing is INTERPRETING what he means by the comparison.

Again, a function of higher intelligence.

It doesn't matter what Spurs and Rockets fans said. The point is quite simple. You just tried to equate Dak and Dirk in the sense that both needs better players to contend for a title. But the problem is that Dirk was a Top 10 NBA player. Dak isn't even close to a top NFL QB.

So the analogy falls flat. In other words, you just assume give Dak better players and they contend but the reality is that even with better players, if your QB is average, you might still be stuck.

Fans in the 90’s used to say Barry Sanders would have won more SBs and rushed for 2K-3K yards each year behind the Cowboys OL to try to diminish Emmitt’s accomplishments.

That is sort of similar to you all stating elite QBs will have more success with the current Cowboys by replacing Dak.

Other fans like me are stating not necessarily because collectively the current Cowboys are a bad team with several weaknesses.

In the NBA there are 5 players from one team on the floor at times... and 1 player like a Michael Jordan can impact the game both on offense and defense.

In the NFL... you need different playmakers on both offense and defense. An elite QB alone cannot win championships.
