This point has been made many times but what people fail to mention is the Eagles screwed us by bidding a 2nd, maybe we could've worked it and made it a 2nd in 2019 and a 2nd in 2020, but we wanted the player, and we got it done..

Eagles did nothing to us.
Oakland said from the start they wanted a 1st round pick.

Just because they offered a 2nd, as other teams did too. Does not mean a darn thing.
We gave what Oakland wanted and got the player we wanted. Done deal.

No team baited us or fooled us, or one upped us.

But yet some of our own hating fans will never get that straight nor will admit it. Because they need to justify to themselves of why they hate the team they profess to be a fan of.

Hell no. Not even close.

And I think Amari is a very good WR.

We're averaging 1PPG more with him and he's on pace for a 900yard season. When you have a QB problem, you don't trade first round picks.
You keep saying we are averaging only 1 ppg more with Cooper but without that jags game that would not be the case. We haven't scored 20 plus I'm back to back games until Cooper came, we couldn't win on the road until Cooper came. If you can't tell the items is better than perhaps some type of hatred is blinding you.

Before you say it I'm not saying we are the Rams offense but we struggled on offense. Now Zeke is back to getting close to 200 yards from scrimmage and Dak is averaging 240 yards.

Should also be noted, Oakland fans are furious and frustrated when I lurked their forum this week. They said they traded away two cornerstones and. So it’s looking like both the first round picks they received are going to be in the 20’s. They feel Ike they lost the trade

He is more talented than I thought BUT it will hurt the Cowboys long term because it hides Daks issues more and helps Garret’s performance and tenure so it is terrible for the Cowboys long term helping Dak and Garret keep their jobs!

There are no marques qbs next year

This is the part of the equation that makes me like this trade more and more. Like most I initially did not like giving up a 1st. But Cooper is only 24, runs all the routes and runs them well. He is a high character player and non diva like. Thinking about a Brees, Goff type QB throwing to him would be fun to watch. His age and the upcoming draft lacking franchise QB's makes me like this trade more each day.

You’re delusional if you think we were spending a 1st on a QB.

So if dak Prescott continues to play mediocre on a good week you're fine going into 2019 with the same team? Outside of a total collapse Jason Garrett seems to be sticking around. Maybe linehan gets the boot, but does another play caller with this offense change anything? Who knows. I think the only way we really improve this team is through the quarterback position.

Now dont get me wrong, I'm rooting for dak every week to succeed, and as I said previously in this thread you can win games with Prescott. I just think his ceiling is limited and dont see him ever out dueling the elite offences in the NFC

Should have addressed the WR position when we cut Dez but "We like our guys." Wouldn't have had to give up a first for him either. Now I do like Cooper but the pick was too high.

That’s not the point. I agree with most of what you saying. I’m just being realistic. Jerry was never goin to draft a QB in the first round. No matter what happened this year.

love the player, still think we overpaid

I think most agree with this but I feel had they not paid the price for Cooper they would've reached on a Non-Worthy receiver in the 1st. Not sure but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. So I will maintain we got a proven "young" commodity with huge upside for our 2019 pick. They wouldn't have drafted a QB and they wouldn't have drafted a safety IMO. It would've been a Receiver and I strongly doubt he would've been as good as Cooper now or in the near future.

IMO, it was a trade to sell seats and jerseys. Does cooper have talent and makes the cowboys better, a resounding yes. But it didn't get us any closer to the Rams or the saints. All it did was buy this coaching staff another year. Also consider the available talent in the upcoming draft. For these reasons I can't support this trade.

Now with a few weeks under our belt, and Cooper having proved himself in opening up the offense, plus with 3 wins in his 3 games here our draft pick is likely going to be later than those terrified we were going to be handing over a top 5 / 10 pick were fearing, do you now support the trade for Cooper?

It makes no sense to use a 1st round pick to get a WR when what you need is a QB who can throw for more than 200 yrds consistently.

Impossible for to answer at this point. I think mos people’s answer are/were enrirely dependent on what number first round pick we gave up. Right now, it’s not looking too bad but he still won’t be cheap, like if we drafted a rookie.

I also think the sample size is too small, this offense hasn’t faced much defensive competition since he got here and even so the argument could be made we still had a great game against Jacksonville (best D we’ve faced) without him.

Be curious to see this same poll at the end of the season or even a year from now.

I will make this point again - in 2016, Dak Prescott was the Mahomes of the league, with just as much hype and love being thrown at him.

Let's see where Mahomes is in 2 years....

Dak had 14 less td passes his rookie year than Mahomes has through 11 games. You're being homer to the point of ridiculousness.

I'm curious, what talent are you talking about? Are you talking about the QB that will go #1 for who we had no chance at getting NO MATTER WHAT? There are no WR's in the upcoming draft that will be even close to Amari Cooper in talent. A Safety maybe? Why would you spend a high #1 on a safety unless he was the second coming of Ed Reed for sure? To me this team failed at Addressing the WR, TE. and Safety positions in the offseason. The Oline was solid until Frederick went down. That was not their fault. Had Fredbeard not went down and they picked up a valid replacement for Dez, we'd be in the drivers seat of this division.

Personally I give the front office props for getting Cooper and making some of the changes they made at the Bye. I would've gotten rid of Linnehan AND Garrett but I am extreme.. Sue me..

I'm optimistic again. I am beginning to think the Boys might be able to make a run in the playoffs this year....seriously.

This is not totally objective. He does have almost triple the picks too compared to Dak's rookie year in total... He's a gunslinger. I love the kid but it's all relative. Not saying I'd rather have Dak at all. Just saying you are not being totally fair.

And you may very well be right on that. At least through his media comments it sounds like Jerry is staying stubborn with Prescott.
