Don’t see him coming back mid year. If ESPN were to fire him after this season it wouldn’t shock me to see him back. But he wasn’t a game changer by the end of his career. I don’t see the benefit for the Cowboys.

Well, Witten's broadcasting career may turn out like Emmitt's (i.e., not good) so what they hey, bring him back :).

I like the move, mainly because I was one of the guys that didn't think Witten was cut out for broadcasting and I think I'm still right.

Witt is an old school, hard knock football guy. He doesn't have the charisma that Aikman and Romo have and definitely belonged on the field. Based off his comments in the booth, I'm beginning to think he was tired of the coaching staff and couldn't stand the thought of playing elsewhere.

I don't think you have any evidence for those comments.

That said, I'd be very surprised to see Witten play again.
I imagine the "evidence" are Witten's comments during the Monday night game. Apparently some fans still have yet to realize they were just for show (as well as inaccurate).

That MNF broadcasting team is just terrible. I literally want to turn the game off. Not just the sound because the echoes would still be ringing in my ears.

Unretirement or not, I hope ESPN pulls the plug on that group and starts over soon.

It is awful. That Booger guy is the worst.

We can certainly use the help at TE but I worry about him stepping in and getting injured because of the layoff.

Witten hasn't missed a game in 11 years, so I'm not sure what kind of injury it would take to sideline him.

also, if you thought Witten was slow before.. wait until you see him after no OTAs, Training Camp, Preseason, and missing most of Reg Season

His lay-off would be a benefit.

Too many examples of players who have come off their couch and played.

I remember Testaverde in his mid 40s joining the Panthers and playing the same week and winning.

You guys are making way too much of that. He’ll be good to go in a couple weeks unless he hasn’t been working out and I doubt that is the case.

I thought everyone was waiting for Witten to retire? lol

Some of us didn't want it to happen until we had a quality replacement. I've never understood the desire some have to just move on from a player no matter what. I guess it's the grass-is-greener syndrome. A smooth transition to similar or better play is finding the replacement and then moving on.

Anyone who thought Swaim and Co. were going to be the answer just because the Hall of Famer was declining wasn't very realistic.

I'd be for it to come in on those third and 5's. Slow as molasses but was somehow wide open more times than not

He has good inside sources. He’s never wrong. In the past he knew Romo was going to retire before all of us. He knew Witten was going to retire before all of us. He knew The Cowboys would make a splash trade before it happened. Now he’s saying the Witten return is at 60%. Check his twitter feed they’re also talking about it on the fan.

In this tweet he's not saying that he has any information from sources, he's just purely speculating. If he had sources, then it would be a real discussion.
