Dak is who he is. Can he get better? Yes...but he will never be the "superstar" of this team. That is Zeke till he leaves. Dak is a photo copy of Tebow skill wise IMO: well liked, good leader, tough as nails with good running ability, but faulty mechanics and underwhelming when throwing the ball. Yet, like Tebow he wins more than he loses while perplexing his fan base. For better or worse, I'm fine with Dak testing the market when his contract time comes because like Tebow I expect his market to be somewhat limited. If wrong, the team loses a bus driver QB IMO

Watch the video. Accept it, don't accept it, it doesn't matter. It won't change the fact that what they are saying here is the truth and is the future for this team.

There is no chance this front office does the right thing. You are about to be saddled with the most over paid player in the league. Eating up chunks of cap space while you desperately try to put an all pro core around him to overcome all the things he can't do. Namely, play the position of QB.

Mark it down. Jerry is about to make another ginormous mistake. He is the gift that keeps on giving. For fans of the Eagles, Giants and Commanders.

Way yo bring me down before a big game Risen!! Trying to figure out who you dislike more Dak or JJ :). This front office has done a few good things recently actually. IDK, a ginormous contract similar to Romo's would be a mistake sure. Look what that anchor did. Hoping you're wrong but there is the "always letting us fans down" thing. Meh, expectations, who need 'em

It's a threshold moment for the Cowboys.

Watching the New Orleans game again, I see Dak throw a few deep balls down the sidelines, and short stuff under 10 yards. Intermediate range passing is missing from his game. And the deep balls don't have enough consistent accuracy.

Do you really need to pay 25mil a year for 5 yard passes? I don't believe it.

Dak was the kind of QB I wanted us to draft. Get a stout runner who can drive the bus. But you can't pay one of those guys a free agent contract until he show he's a good passer. Dak hasn't shown it.

Draft another in the same mold next year. Let Dak play out his contract. If Dak makes a big jump in passing ability, think about signing him. Otherwise, draft another QB and let the better one start.

It probably sets us back in talent at QB. But giving Dak a free agent contract will set us back at other positions for a long time. Dak's transition to free agency sets us back either way. Accept that.

And Dak's not the only one. Accept that too. Lots of guys hitting free agency means we get worse in 2020 or mortgage the future to temporarily fend that off.

Drafting a QB is a crapshoot - in any round. Because you can't honestly gauge DESIRE to excel.

So take a shot at one EVERY year so that you always have a new prospect 'in the tubes.'

It's not complicated
For sustained success in the NFL the QB HAS TO BE the most talented player on the team

Dak is not even top 5 on this team

Paying him big time money is a huge mistake

Top 5 on the team? Dak is not even top 5 on the offense.

Top 5 on the offense
1. Ezekiel Elliott
2. Zack Martin
3. Tyron Smith
4. Travis Frederick
5. Amari Cooper

There are at least 6 defensive players better than Dak: Lee, Vander Esch, Smith, Jones, Lawrence & Irving.

We could run the table and I wouldn't rush to extend him, what's he going to do sit out, that would tell me a lot about his character.
It be foolish . I live near the ravens territory and they played hardball with Flacco and let him get to free agency and then was forced to pay him a much richer contract than anticipated after he pulled an Eli and won then the super bowl. They haven’t been the same since and neither has Flacco.

If you knock off the rookie year, dak is 16-12 right now, which doesnt look as good as 29-15.
In the rookie year, he was allowed to run the read option, and run more ad lib stuff.
But they got away from that. The jones boys dont want him running that much.

QB's dont win or lose games, teams do.
Play calling and play designs make a big part of winning or losing.

All qb's need good players around them and a good run game to be successful.
Many qb's in the league are overpaid and not worth the contracts they have.

The set standard for a starting qb now is 27 mil a year, and 5 years could be standard also.
So that is what dak will get.
Since he is playing for peanuts now even compared to other rookie contracts, he deserves a big payday to make
up for that.

I have to agree dak hasnt played smart or all that good this year, but I dont think it is all on him.
If he got with the right team I think he could be quite good.

However here I dont know, I just dont think he is being coached properly, or utilized properly.
Dak could be given a time frame to throw, 3-4 seconds or counts, and at that point throw it somewhere, in the ground out of bounds
or to a receiver.
That would eliminate some of the sacks and strip fumbles, and with that there would have to be changes made to pass routes,
so they would be expecting a pass that quick and at least 1 guy short to throw to.
but we dont see that at all due to coaching.

I honestly dont think another qb would be much different, unless they were really good and didnt require any coaching up.
and getting one like that is just dreaming.

Daks thrown for 14 TDs this year. Patrick Mahomes achieves that in 3 games.

All your paying Dak for is first downs and don’t turn the ball over. It’s the definition of a bus driver!

Those QBs should be as easy to find as running backs for Mike Shanahan if the rest of the team is stacked around him.

"The Matt Ryan line" is an interesting gauge mentioned in the video, and I agree with the idea actually, and definitely agree Dak is below that line. One can only hope he improves. It's mainly ball accuracy and knowing when to get rid of the ball or take off and run with it.

This entire 8 pages of bickering is based on the speculation that Jerry Jones extends Dak in this off-season.

Nice.

I thought the Saints determined that...or was that the Falcons...no no it was the Eagles the first go around...no no it was the Giants game...or was it the Commanders game on Thanksgiving...

I suspect that if Dallas should win...this narrative will get pushed back to the Colts week.

Dak would be doing a lot more to help us win if he actually had help from the FO. Started with Cooper. Now they need to fix the Oline and fix the coaching. Seen what Dak can be even as a rookie when the line blocks and he has decent pass catchers to throw to. And thats with sorry coaching.

Dak will definitely improve. At the start of the season, we had the worst lineup of receivers and TEs. Backup playing center and a rookie playing left guard. Yet everyone wants to blame Dak.

Once we got Cooper Dak suddenly started to improve. Wait till he gets a pass catching TE, Austin back and everyone on the Oline blocking effectively. Throw in a new playbook and new OC, Dak will be slinging it like its 2016.

You all can’t handle the tooth. So we haven’t seen the contract yet and he is the most over paid? I thought players like bortles was the most over paid?

I think this is about as accurate a speculative prediction based on actual previous performance as could have been done.

The lose now mentality or tank threads for the better overall future of the team posts can totally tie into his logic here because the up and coming, just recently drafted QBs who have clearly shown superior ability to Dak thus far are still under their first contract(ie Wentz, Watson, Goff Trubisky.)Along with the jury still out on 2018 draftees Darnold, Mayfield, Allen and Rosen who also don't fit the Matt Ryan Line narrative yet because of being under first contracts.
Just my opinion, but a well thought out piece with substantial evidence to support his summation.

Falls directly at the feet of the 2 sides who do and dont see Dak as a future Super Bowl winning QB of the Dallas Cowboys.

By that I mean those that support a new Dak contract and this current small window of perceived success would risk trading this current ceiling of Dak Prescott abilities at the expense of all the needed supporting cast players mentioned.

Or would you invest in a 2020 first round pick along the lines of a Fromm or Tua and the rookie contract.

No matter their lack of filters, tactfulness or whatever, I have always agreed with Risen and PappyDog's take on Dak's abilities. The greater good and future of the Cowboys lies in drafting someone much better in my opinion. Just one man's opinion.

Advance apologies if yours differs.

Nothing personal.
