Top FAs this offseason look to be - Teddy Bridgewater, Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Fitzpatrick, maybe Sam Bradford or Robert Griffin III

None of them are the answer, and none are going to be particularly cheap. With our pick in the late 2nd, we aren't getting a marquee QB.

Dak isn't an A or A- QB. He isn't a B+, but he is a B / B- guy with upside remaining. He's the type of guy you should want to keep around.

I don't think any of the QB's you mentioned are the answer either. Bridgewater has the most upside or should I say "had" before that horrible leg and knee injury. I think Dak's upside is as high minus the knee injury. All of the afore mentioned will be too expensive as back ups and all would prefer to start I'm sure. My thing is finding a QB coach who can work with Dak and a new OC who's play calling isn't so vanilla and works to Dak's strengths.

I think Dak is our QB for a few more years. How many? Depends on his progression and coaching. Having said that, we should continue to draft a QB every year. For me that is the biggest dis-service we ever did to Romo. Not having someone in place who could hold down the fort and win a few games when he was injured. Typically by the time Tony came back, the season was over because of crappy back up QB play. I have no idea what Mike White has as far as upside nor do I want to find out because Dak is injured. Many didn't appreciate just what Romo meant to this team until the injuries started to mount and the 2015 crash.

I'm OK with a "game manager" as long it is a good game manager. Dak seems to be that. Very steady, balanced, intelligent, a good leader and he has helped the team win 29 games in his short career.. Russel Wilson was that when the Seahawks won a SB. Marshawn was the Lynch-pin and they had a big time defense. Since Russel has become the focal point of the offense, the results have been less than expected I'm sure. I see the Russel Wilson story/trajectory as very similar to the Dak Prescott story.

Stay the course with Dak. Help him improve the same as we helped Romo improve. Go out and find Witten 2 nd keep building the O-line

Well said brother.

Here’s my problem...Jerry and the Cowboys FO have historically been terrible at managing the drafting/acquisition of a QB. Troy was a no brainer. Quincy Carter? OMG. In Jerry’s own slurred words, “Romo was a miracle” that they stumbled into. They waited waaaay too long to draft a replacement for Romo. Then Dak was another lucky stumble, not some part of some grand scheme.

My point is to acquire a franchise QB, you better have a well researched plan of acquisition in the draft, or a great plan for a FA signing where the cap isn’t destroyed. My problem with giving up on Dak is I have zero confidence this organization can come up with a viable plan to acquire a top shelf QB talent.

I don’t necessarily disagree with your desire to go get someone better, but 20 other NFL teams are wanting to do the same, and we don’t have a very good FO when it comes to acquiring top QB talent.
very true. we have not been good in evaluating QBs...like you said Aikman was a no brainer. Romo was a miracle. in between AIkman and Romo we churned and churned as we should but never came close. even in 2016, Jerry said he regretted not trading up to get Lynch....I guess that was a lucky break, but even then, our evaluation of QBs wasn't good if we thought Lynch was worth trading up for. I wanted so badly for us to trade up to top 2 spots for Went. LA was locked into Goff and that showed in all the pre-draft talk. but they were locked into Zeke and/or Rosa. those two were the pick if nothing else. they thought eke will fall into them and they thought he had potential to be a HOF type RB.....they thought we have Romo, give him Zeke and we are like the 2014 team.......Jerry was dreaming of a Super Bowl in 2016.

we will hand Dak a contract the will make many unhappy and perhaps strap the team looking for the pieces around Das that he needs to succeed, given there aren't many other choices....I think we should let Das play out his contract...then franchise him if we have to...its one year, in the meantime lets see what happens in 19 FA market and if we can draft one...

Is Derek Carr available? I’d give up a couple of picks for him. Or look to draft a Mahomes type in the draft. Competition is never a bad thing and if we traded for Carr we could get some of it back by trading Prescott.

I do think there are ways of upgrading the position without getting an aging vet or killing our drafts. Be smart and aggressive. I would be shocked if our front office was either. Dak is ok. If the stars align he could win a super bowl just like Eli did. But we could upgrade for sure.
I would take him. he had a really good 2014 I believe.....he is more of a pocket passer than anything and fits our offense. give him a strong Running game and a good OL and this is a top 10 offense easily

I cant imagine all the complaints here if Carr was to start for us lmao.
There's alresdy so many "dink and dunk" complaints, despite it not being true, and then we actually having the biggest checkdown artist in the league? It would be priceless.

Lol at downgrading at QB and thinking "top 10 offense easily". Jesus

Our coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball is so good...they're so innovative and creative..I mean you just the tape on and you can see the advantage we get from the brains on the sidelines..

You can plug anybody you want in at quarterback for this team

Oh wait

We don't have to resign him this off-season. So why rush to commit to someone

Sign Cooper long term. Get Zeke locked up long term

Get a decent FA qb this off season to hold things over for a year or two, then wait a year and draft the kid from Mizzou

Carr's brother beat the piss out of Dak in a passing competition after being out of the league for years

Let's get him instead

PS love how the dink and dunk is described as a "myth". Daks best play is a screen to Zeke and let Zeke do the heavy lifting. That's our bread and butter right now week to week

id be all over flacco IF we could get him on a resonable deal that we could get out of after 2 years if he wasnt cutting the mustard.

I love that dink and dunk is a myth and still used ad naseum despite being proven wrong multiple times.

25th ranked passing game, 14 TDS, leads the league in fumbles

It really doesnt matter who we replace him with

Just so we get it down in writing, you're saying that Dak cant be any worse than anyone we replace him with using those three cherry picked stats, correct?

No. Romo haters are generally Dak's biggest supporters. There is also a strong correlation with those who don't understand that wins and losses are a team stat.

I'm historically a big Romo fan.

But I also like Dak.
