Cooper Rush should have played the 4th quarter

For three quarters, my section at the stadium was just shaking our heads in disgust and frustration.

Amari Cooper was wide open the entire football game. I mean WIDE OPEN all damn game long. He could have had 500 yards receiving by the end of the 3rd quarter. Even he was visibly frustrated at the lack of throws his way. The Philadelphia secondary is just putrid. They couldn't cover me.

Cooper Rush should have played the 4th quarter because this game should have been 35-3 by then. Dallas had all the possession, and the defense had the Philly offense tied in knots. Wentz looked bad, they couldn't run, first downs were incredibly hard to come by, and their defensive backfield was a makeshift band of gypsies.

It took a 62-yard field goal after a horribly mismanaged late drive in the half to be up a lousy 6-0. You have to try really, really hard not to be up three touchdowns in that game by halftime.

Dak throws a bad interception, followed by a an even worse interception, followed by a brainless fumble, followed by missed opportunity after missed opportunity....and suddenly, this thing is 9-9 only by the luck of a missed extra point.

"How is this possible?" we all stared at each other. "We should be in our cars headed home already."

Then, Dak drops a beautifully thrown ball to Cooper in the end zone, and it's back on track for the moment. However, he misses Gallup on two easy touchdowns running past the Eagles' jokesters for corners. He misses on a throw to Cooper, who fortunately adjusted on the ball for a 75-yard score as whoever "Bausby" is runs out of bounds. LOL, good corner you've got there, Philly!

Finally, after a nice drive in overtime, ping, pong, the game is over. Lucky touchdown, but the proper end to a nutty game. The Cowboys now have the awful NFC East pretty much on lockdown.

This game summed up Dak perfectly. Horrific interceptions, missed opportunities, bad fumbles, a few tremendous catches by receivers, and a few really well-thrown balls against a practice-squad combination of off-the-street defensive backs in a wild and woolly game. That's who we is.

My lone thought after that crazy game.....this is a Super Bowl roster that will have to drag this guy as far as they can take him.

Can a bus driver take a Ferrari to a Super Bowl this season? We'll see.
You are absolutely right. I did not read your post fully.

Because it contained Cooper Rush playing in the 4th Quarter, Super Bowl Roster, and no logic for football. I did not read it fully.

However, my response is still the same. The reason is the Saints lite up the Eagles horrible secondary, Dallas beat the Saints high flying offense, and Dallas beat the Eagles again. What does that have to do with you wanting to see the Cowboys beat the defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles by 35 points to see Cooper Rush play. It will never happen with Jason Garrett and Scott Linehan as HC and OC. You want to see Cooper Rush that bad. Then get a sideline pass and stand there with him the whole game.

You only have to win a football game by 1 point. Dak and the Cowboys won by 6 points even with Dak turnovers, and Dak big plays. Dak has a CDL license were he drove a bus in the first half, a clown car in the second half but switch out on the back stretch into the Ferrari and won by 6 points. Emphasis on the word WON.

What a stupid thread
why, because certain people are overly sensitive to the trash we saw for 3/4 of the game. I'm glad Dak pulled it off, but how low are we going to keep settling for? It's not like this is the first time he's done this this year alone, just last week it was the same story. Try understanding the valid points presented rather than just dismissing because of an attachment to a single player.

Dak was terrible the first 3 quarters.

That being said, your attempt to minimize how he well he played in the 4th quarter and OT is just flat out sad.

I also disagree that the score should have been 35-3 after 3 quarters. Maybe about 24-3.

ITT: 90% of those replying only read the title and aren't aware that @erod is saying Rush should have played the 4th because the 4th quarter should have ended up being mop-up duty.

Agree or disagree with the thought, but at least read the thought completely before posting.

Hmmm, didn't see this sentiment after the Jags game. I think most understood but are calling a spade a spade.Knowing people's posting history this was just a round about way to bash Dak. Knowing the hatred for the Egals , someone let there ego get in the way of what was a hard faught East match up. Dak doesn't get credit for the win but blame because it wasn't a blowout. Wash. rinse, repeat

Erod, I actually enjoyed some of your posts in the old forum but this Dak hate is just silly and sad. And yes I read it. I saw your point was that Rush should’ve played because it should’ve been a blowout by then. But the “drag this guy” and bus driver comments show you don’t appreciate the warrior Dak is. He has more 4th quarter comebacks than most of the “great” QBs playing. Not many bus drivers do that.

I actually wasn't nearly as down on his performance as many others were. He's very flawed but he battled and he tried to push the ball down the field all game.

And, if we're being fair, he is clutch. He does elevate his play late in games.

He will never be a great or even good starting QB but I thought this was about the best version of him that we can hope for.

To sit there and say this kid has no chance to be a “good” QB is alittle out of bounds imo. All he has to do is elimate his turnovers, get better pocket presence and push the ball down field more (as you say). If he does those things it would qualify him as a “good” QB. I mean it can happen. Granted he is terrible at the moment, and may never be an “accurate” QB like a Brady or Manning, but he does have the opportunity to be a good QB in this league if he works at it.

Now will that happen under a Garrett and Linehan? No, probably not. If Garrett sticks around, what we are seeing is probably what we are getting. Garrett and Linehan obviously don’t trust him enough to open up the play book every game and if they stick around that will probably continue. Dak can be a Donovan McNab type QB. He has the measurables to pull that off. Despite people’s feelings of Donavan on this board the guy was a “good” QB. Good enough to lead his team to to 3 championship games. If Owens didn’t act like a child when they were together that tandem could have taken over the league. Well Dak has Cooper right now. All he needs to do is work on polishing his game. It’s really not that far fetched to think he can do that.

"Cooper Rush should have played the 4th quarter because this game should have been 35-3 by then."

This is the key sentence in the OP. I missed it the first time I read it too and misinterpreted the post as well.

He wasn't calling for Rush to replace Dak unless we had already put the Eagles away early, like we should have.

If you misread it like I did, just suck it up, admit it, and quit trying to turn the thread into something it isn't because you made a mistake.

Dak needs to get his accuracy for deeper balls under control. If he could hit the running free WRs deep, and the short stuff, we've got a real good offense.

I wish Tony was the guy coaching him up in the offseason.
