It's a myth Romo always threw accurate passes to Dez. That's complete BS. Go back and watch Dez's hi-lights.
It's mostly inaccurate throws that Dez caught with his ridiculous athleticism. Do you think easy balls anyone could catch would make the highlight reel?

Dez caught balls that were high, low, behind his back, with 3 defenders hanging on him, and beyond reach for most of the WR. This is not a dig at Romo but it's ridiculous to say Romo made Dez. If anything Dez helped Romo as much as Romo helped him.

Cooper was breaking Gordon's ankles every play.

Dez couldn't get separation...............

Exactly. Dez was phenomenal when he had all of his athletic ability. Following the string of injuries starting in 2015, he didn't have the enormous athletic advantage over his opponents anymore. Not taking the time to become fundamentally sound came back to bite him quickly. A stunningly quick fall form grace, really.

It's sad that the OP started this thread to support Dak, disparage Dez but all that came out of it was the realization that Dak is not an accurate thrower of the football. He's missed at least 3 TDs to Gallup the last two games. Easy TDs. One of those games we won by 3 points. The other we won in OT.

In the playoffs that could be the difference in going home or advancing on.

I posted a video of all of Dez's 2017 incompletions on the first or second page....the vast majority were bad throws by Dak. Video doesn't lie.

Looks like we can put another theory to rest. With Cooper coming in and having an almost instant rapport with Dak its clear that Dak wasn't the problem with Dez.
I would say that Dak and Cooper have had an instant chemistry. I wouldn't say Dez was the problem -- just that the catches that Dez is best at are the throws Dak is worst at.

Well put. Dez by the end was a one or two trick pony. Those tricks however were quite valuable since they were the kinds of things you’d use on 3rd down or in the RZ. I think if Dak could throw some of those we would see more of Gathers in RZ situations. We saw it tried once and it was ugly and they never went back to it.

clearly Cooper is a superior route runner. Dak just couldnt make the right kinds of throws to be successful with Dez, ie back shoulder, 50/50 jump balls and accurate go routes.
This more then that ^

How to you explain every other receiver not named Dez then? They all suck?

Suck? I would say they are JAGS. TE's and all other receivers other then Cooper are pretty much JAGS. Lack the ability to get seperation. Beasley is ok for some underneath stuff, but you cant make a living throwing to him.

Gallup I definitely like, but he is a rookie and especially the first half of the year you cant expect a kid like that to carry the load first time in an offense and with a QB.

I think that was established a while ago already. No one said that Dez was a great route Runner. Dak and Dez did not mesh well because Dak did not know how to get Dez the ball properly. And Dez couldn't get open enough for Daks liking.

It's amazing how Cooper could just step in and produce. When other receivers have to be worked in while they learn the Playbook
because Dak did not know how to get Dez the ball properly. And Dez couldn't get open enough for Daks liking

The blue one, not the red one.

Dez just doesnt look open. And rarely was. Lacks separation, takes plays off, has a bad attitude, and is a moron. Basically throw the ball up and pray. Im actually happy that Dak isnt like that.

I can throw a 5 yard pass to Cooper and have him run it to the house.....you Dak-zoids are so desperate to have him be seen as a Franchise QB you will use every angle to cover the fact that a Pig is a Pig anyway you slice it....

How do you explain his lack luster season with Derek Carr?

Shouldnt he have made that pig shine a bit more?

I mean you are assuming your arm chair QB arm is better than Carr and Daks

Cooper is what you really want in a #1. Size, speed, route running, has the QBs confidence.

I won’t say Dez is a #2 because he was way too talented, but Dez was at the point for a few years where he couldn’t pull away from the elite corners, and he couldn’t run routes well enough to separate from them. That’s NOT what a young QB needs in a #1. Even Romo seemed to develop better connections with other receivers over the years and his TE, then going to Dez for huge plays.

Cooper has already shown that even a top CB cannot take him out of the game. He will demand double coverage. That would have then made Dez a monster against single coverage by a lesser CB.

Dez was extremely limited, but paid like a top wide out. You need more then a 50/50 jump ball guy for his price. He had lost a few steps and never perfected his craft.

Dez is/was done.

If all your go-to-guy can do is 50/50 and back shoulders he isn’t much of a WR1.
