I'm definitely not arguing against romo being better than dak

But why do people say romo never had a team this good?or a defense this good?

Don't kid yourselves..that's ridiculously stupid

You're right as far as better teams go. 2007 was a better team. One could say 2014 was as well. But I don't see a defense as good. 2009 was the closest and they got exposed by some better teams. Heck, the 8-8 Giants threw up 30+ points against us in both games. But I get tired of this Romo/Dak comparison. Romo was not a God, he was a good QB, not elite. I put him in the Matt Stafford category.

The only thing that matters is playoff wins. He's 2 behind Romo there. Lets see if he can pass him.

The only thing that matters is a make believe stat? You sound like you would make a genius talent evaluator. Maybe one day they will combined have as many playoff wins as Mark Sanchez, while we're being stupid.

Brad Johnson won more Super Bowls than Dan Marino. Let’s not get too tied up in strange stats and lose sight of the forest through the trees.
yeah and hey Blake Bortles has 2 playoff wins but the guy will never make the jaquars ring of honor or whatever they may have

Romo had his flaws but he was usually the reason the team won. He overcame others making mistakes and penalties and the defense never stopping anyone. Dak is the opposite. The rest of the team has to overcome his mistakes and limitations. Then he might play well on a final drive and pull out a win. That’s not a formula for success. Teams need the QB to be a big part of the reason the team wins not the reason they lose or the game is close or having to have the team overcome their performance.

I don’t think Dak is a legit starting NFL QB but Romo put hisself in a lot of those holes he had to dig out of. I think Romo was a good but not great QB. Now you put him with this team and our chances go way up of advancing in the playoffs. Mainly because he’d would audible out of the ******* plays that were called. Overall, he was a way better QB than Dak and I was a Romo basher. Never understand how folks put his name in the same sentence with Stabauch and Aikman.

I would agree with that point. The only real advantage the 2007 team had outside of the QB was TO and Witten, and TO was a shell of himself in the playoff game due to injury.

I would agree 100% with your post except I'd also given edge to the D line on the 07 team. RB, LB, DB, is a huge advantage to the current team. O line is a slight advantage to the current team over 07.

TE was much better in 07, as was QB . WR #1, clear advantage to TO. Overall WR Corp, current team is better top to bottom than 07. AC/Gallup/Beasley is better than TO/Crayton as a whole unit

So serious question - if you swapped Romo out for Dak from 2011 to 2013, how many games do the Cowboys win? Those were the 3 8-8 seasons. No other changes, just the qb. I personally think we would have struggled to win 4 games with Dak and those teams. No OL. No running game and a defense that couldn’t stop me let alone any nfl team. Good but not great WR and a first year head coach in 2011.
Yeah, that 4 wins ,in a 3 seasonal yeared time framed span?,,0r 4 per annum? Anyway , it's what kept the GARRETT'S dog-paddling exit orifice sniffer unit continually capable of drawing that extra breath of coaching LIVELIHOOD,,,o_O

That 2007 team wasn't better than this team?

Are you serious?

This defense is better than the overrated 2007 defense.

Defense wins championships, Romo never had a championship level defense. Stop pretending he did.

You know what team won the super bowl in 2007? The team that kept offenses to 20 points or less in the playoffs. That 2007 defense couldn’t stop Eli Manning, neither could the Packers or Patriots with their defenses. The championship level defense won it all.

Romo at 38 and 2 years retired is still way better than Dak has even shown potential to be.

Having said that, while he was playing I patented the term Romoception. Everyone should immediately be able to figure out what it means, but for the younger Dak fans I’ll spell it out. Imagine having the ball on a great drive, going into your opponents territory late in the 4th in a 1 possession game. Play it cool and you’ve won. Suddenly out of nowhere, Romo, who at the time would be like 29-35 for 315 and 2 tds, stares down his number 1 WR and just underhands the oddest pass to the cornerback undercutting the blatant 1-read play.

Remember the Jets game in 2010 when Romo lobbed that wounded duck to Revis who was in way better position than Dez? Remember in 2012 when Romo did it 2 drives in a row to GB who didn’t have Rodgers or a chance in hell to win that game? The infamous game where Romo checked out of a run to burn the clock and win the game... only to throw a pick. Oh! Oh! Remember that time he threw for 500 yards against Denver and should have beat Manning! Only to throw a pick at the worst time and lose by a field goal...

Having said that, Tony was generally pro bowl caliber and would be crushing people with today’s team. Could you imagine Romo to Cooper?
This is a classic example of an agenda driven take from someone who is seeing what they want to see rather than the truth.

You couldn't have picked two worse examples to make your point.

The Revis pick could of and should have been no worse than an incompletion if not a completed pass. Romo had Dez on the sideline with Revis initially beaten but coming back hard. Instead of working back towards the ball Dez saw all the open field and started moving that way after Romo had committed to the throw giving Revis position to make the pick. If Dez doesn't screw it up he is in position to do what he does best and catch the contested ball or worst case, make sure Revis doesn't.

The Broncos game Escobar again hangs his QB out to dry by running his route flat instead of across the face of the DB allowing the DB to undercut him. Both of those are Receiving 101 situations. As simple as it gets.

Those two plays also are great examples of the difference between Romo and Dak. Romo expected his guys to make a play and would give them the opportunity to do so. Unfortunately he was dealing with a low football IQ player in Dez and a lazy and soft player in Escobar in those examples.

Dak takes the sack on both those plays and maybe we end up with a field goal if Zeke can bail him out.
