Funny you should mention that. As I recall, Romo wasn't a proponent of weight training, either. He was leery of it affecting his passing accuracy. I've also heard it being said lately that Dak needs to use his body, legs and feet better and more consistently to improve his passing as need be. I have noticed, though, that he rids himself of the ball a little bit quicker than he did earlier in his career. He may not be there yet but he's working on it, at least.
The one thing Ive noticed about Daks footwork is he appears too straight legged at times. And that alone would affect your ability to drive the ball down field! If you go back to earlier tape of Dak he gets rid of the ball quicker because he is given only two reads most of the time. Now he has more of the field to read he needs to speed up his mind and get the clock his head set. Play calling isnt helping him either. The Cowboys should be rotating Zeke out more and bringing in Smith more and always give Dak an outlet pass to the RB. At least to draw a defender or to throw to.

Good eye, Coach!

Pay attention to pics of the football coming off of Dak's hand this season. Zoom in. Watch how Dak's fingers look rigid, and his finger tips are slightly bent inward. All signs of higher increased arm/hand strength being exerted when throwing and releasing the pass. That's probably why a lot of his throws are ending out high or trecking at an upwards projection. He's even thrown some wobblers. All signs of rigidness in his throwing arm, plus increased hand grip on the football during release.

This can be fixed with a much lighter weights workout where he can better define his arms but not get so bulked. It very likely is the cause of some of his bad throws. Half the time he gets away with an accurate and well placed throw. Other times those throws sail on him or get thrown inaccurately.

He usually makes the grimacing face when he’s about to get hit while throwing, like he’s trying to put extra mustard on the pass to keep it on target.

Bulky muscles affect flexibility, that’s why Bruce Lee didn’t lift weights...

Dak is not a small QB. Being it’s his 3rd season I would say that he has bulked up some for the NFL. His accuracy issues are puzzling to me. I think some of it is the scheme. He is a running QB that they are trying to make him stay in the pocket.

Was talking to my son in law last night. He thinks Dak needed to go but said he noticed from the outside looking in (a dolphins fan) that he didn’t have these issues his rookie season but he was running around a lot more. I told him that SJ don’t want him running with the ball.

He has had sooo many chances to scramble with open lanes and he won’t take it. He will take the sack first. Only the occasional game with designed runs. No roll out plays. He is most accurate on the run.

I have thought this. I was skinny but had a rocket arm. I used to see weight lifter types that could out lift me easily and were stronger in every way but couldn't throw like me.

I have noticed that when he puts his body into it he can throw for distance so he looks like he has a strong arm. But he can't whip it like a short stop. He can throw some weak passes if he isn't set right.

Arm stength is, of course, relative. There are exactly zero starting QBs in the NFL who have 'weak' arms. I'd be willing to bet Dak can throw it 60+ yards flat footed, and can probably wing it 75+ yards stepping into it.

Having a cannon for an arm is a luxury, but it isn't necessary to be a HOF QB.

This post just made me wonder if maybe Dak isn't running because he doesn't want to risk injury before getting his contract.......hmmmmmm?

After his TD run on Sunday he did his bicep flex. Hes got some serious guns. Most QBs have skinny arms..maybe hes to bulked up and it affects his accuracy. My basketball coaches always hated for their players to lift heavy weight in season cuz they said it affected their shot. I told them they were full of crap, maybe they were on to something.
Linebacker playing Qb...

There’s some “bro science” being tossed around here fellas:laugh:
My arms used to be so big I had to use a straw to drink my beer. Biceps got in the way. I quit lifting and now I can enjoy the drink as it was meant to be enjoyed. Lol!

When freddy was first injured, many were experts on stingers. When that diagnosis changed to gbs, stinger experts became gbs experts immediately . Now they're experts in kinesiology and the throwing motion. Same for ankle sprains, high and low, and back injuries. :)

Nothing personal but what throwing ability are we talking about......his arm talents are worst than Tim Tebows was....make him a FB or LB as the Dak man has 0 talents to qualify as a NFL QB not even bench material.....Dink and Dunk all year long and then some.....
Mentally he's slow to read the field (hence the sacks) and has a very serious PANIC problem which creates those sacks and fumbles 12 and counting.....

Hes lucky though like the game vrs bucs how the LB dropped that first pass of his .....luck will only take him so much ...personally expect no new contract for him this spring(unless its league min) and also expect JJ to find another QB option....he might be drunk but he hasn't blacked out yet from the booze....lol....

This, for sure.

It's quite amusing to read on here the contradictory viewpoints from the same people trying to cover Dak's butt from both ends.

"One of his greatest strengths is his ability to run the ball and take a hit and not get injured. He's so strong and athletic. He's not brittle like that last guy we had as our QB"

BUT NOW--

"Those big huge muscles are the reason he can't throw the ball. They are hindering his throwing motion. Dak, without knowing it, is so perfectly sculpted that it prevents him from doing his job. Dak's simply too physically strong and powerful to play QB in the NFL. Poor guy"

Watch film. The reason he can't throw the ball with any consistency is that his footwork and mechanics suck. Take a QB with "skinnier" arms and if he is constantly throwing off his back foot, the ball is still going to sail on him or go off target.

His primary job isn't to "take a hit" or to "run the ball". We've got Zeke for that, and he's the best in the league. A helluva lot better than Prescott at running the ball.

Dak's primary job is to scan the field, make the appropriate read in rapid fashion, and deliver the ball on time and on target.

He simply isn't very good at that and it doesn't have a thing to do with his "huge guns". Good grief.

If Jerry was going to extend Dak he would of gotten it by now so he wouldnt have to worry about it going into the playoffs! I dont believe that Jerry and Stephen are sold on Dak. Those guys arent stupid im sure they are having some very in depth conversations about Dak!

My goodness, I Hope you are right.

Every time that idiot drunk goes on and on about how Dak is "going to get a big extension" and how he's "going to be here for years", I get queasy.

I get banned over a month and see ppl like this guy run rampant. It's absurd the trash the mods let go on this site. It's so blatant.

It's only blatant to those who can't see anything else but what they've already decided on.

If you've already decided there's one singular reason people don't like Dak, then that's all you're going to see. Even if it isn't the case.
