Someone (Idgit?) brought up the topic whether a Super Bowl changes the narrative of Dak and Garrett which I want to revisit in a slightly different way.

For you, would a win this Saturday against the Rams resulting in our first conference championship appearance in 20+ years change the narrative of Dak and/or Garrett?

For me, it would assuming Dak contributes anything more than just Trent Dilfer type performance. It would also change my perspective on Garrett as he would have helped brought this team from the brink of a lost season (3-5) to making a deep playoff run.

I think Garrett is not a good HC, I think Dak is an avg QB at best.
If they win saturday, it changes my mind on both cases (assuming Dak plays well of course)

I would choose to use the word "improve" rather than "change". A win would undoubtedly raise the stock of both for anyone being reasonable. I can't criticize someone for not accomplishing things and then not give them credit when they do accomplish something. And defeating the #2 team in the NFC on the road and getting to the NFC Championship would be a huge accomplishment for both.

No because personally I think to change an earned perception it takes time not a hot streak. I think Eli is ok overall but most don't because of a few nice runs in Jan. Even if they didn't win big but were consistently good to great it would change my mind but winning this one game won't for me. I'd be happy of course but to change views on something it takes time not just a playoff win for me. You didn't get that reputation overnight in most cases and I don't think you can lose it like that. Everybody is different though so I'm sure I'm in the minority on this pov.

The narrative hasn't changed with me.
I expect a Super Bowl championship every year.

I would say yes.

I said in the preseason that at this point, Garrett has to put up or shut up. Make the playoffs and then make a run. Beating a heavy favorite on the road making the NFCCG would constitute a run for me and worthy of giving Garrett more seasons going forward.

A loss this weekend? He'll continue but I won't believe there was some corner turned here. It would just be a continuation of what we've seen the previous 8 seasons IMO.

it took Garrett nine years - so no
and Dak I still have my doubts

Sure I think it changes, but if we don't make the playoffs next year, or do and are one and done, the narrative goes right back, and 2018 gets viewed as an anomaly. It's going to take having some consistent success for there to be a more lasting change.

People will discredit Dak saying playing in LA is like playing a home game.

I don't think there would be much of that. There are always some lame arguments one way or another about anything, but this one is lamer than most. Even if there are a lot of Cowboy fans there, there will also be a lot of Ram fans, plus how can it be like a home game playing on a field and in an arena the team never plays at? Has Dak ever played there?

I guess it's fair to say that some fans will never be won over. Hard to change the narrative when someones mind is made up. Shame.
