I don't really go to the movies. It's been a while but I just watched a few on showtime/HBO etc.

Molly's Game - Very good, not at all what I expected. 5 stars.

Tag - Thought it was hilarious. If you have the same group of friends since childhood, you'll probably like it. 4 stars.

Saw Annihilation. I really didn't like it. And I usually like slow burn movies like The Witch and Hereditary. This just came off as pretentious and up its own butt.

We finally saw A Star is Born this past weekend and really enjoyed the movie. You can't help but be impressed with Bradley Cooper - co-wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the movie. To top it off, he is not a bad singer either. I have always enjoyed Lady Gaga's music, but seeing her in a dramatic role sans all the glitz was really eye-opening. And, who doesn't like Sam Elliott??

Overall, a fairly predictable plot with great acting and musical score.... 8/10.

I really liked the first half, but felt once she started taking off it really went downhill.

Gaga is much more attractive with the natural look.

Wife made me see A Star is Born, I was kicking and screaming not wanting to

It was okay, Cooper is about the only thing that kept me interested. Long story short, glad I finally got around to watching it but will not see it again. It is not one of those movies that you can watch over and over, once was enough for me.

Mary Poppins Returns 9/10 not as good as the original but that of Emily Blunt can do it all. Comedy, drama, musicals.

Overlord 8.5/10

Not what I expected going in but it drew my attention for every minute.

“1408” again....but this time I watched a 25 minute analysis on it’s meaning after, and really makes the film a much richer story, and explains so much. It’s about Dante’s Inferno. I was curious because the Mike character kept talking about levels of hell, and couldn’t understand why. I will say one thing, that is the most brutal psychological torture you can do to a human,it’s also cool there is no official ending, and you can pick one of the four endings as you like.

On Saturday, we saw Cold Pursuit with Liam Neeson. Definitely a film noir with a bit of Fargo mixed in. It was about a quarter of the way through the movie before I realized it was really a dark comedy.

Pretty good if you are into that sort of thing 7/10.

That's how they've been advertising it.

Straight Outta Compton 8/10.

Great acting and taught me a lot about NWA I didn’t know. Solid solid movie.
Yeah,I liked that as well. Kinda enjoyed the whole backstory to everything. Did a good job.

Haven't done well posting on movies as of late.

The Upside - Fairly predictable and paint by numbers feel good movie, but fairly enjoyable for what it is as well.

Glass - I really liked the first 2/3 of this movie. Unfortunately, the final act just fell very flat, and this trilogy went out with a dud.

The Kid Who Would Be King - Pretty Ho-Hum kids movie. I guess it might be a fun adventure for the kids, but there is pretty much zero here for adults. And even for kids, I think there is plenty better out there.

Ms. Bala - Somewhat deceptive trailer, but understandable. Pretty predictable and uninteresting. There's some action, but it's pretty limited, and the main character is mostly ducking/running for all of it. Definitely a rental at best.

Serenity - This was bad. Really bad. The "twist" that happens 2/3 of the way through to explain what is happening is just really absurd and stupid. So mind-numbingly stupid. Some of the performances are okay, so there are still worse movies out there, but I'd suggest passing on this.

Lego Movie: The 2nd Part - I wasn't a fan of the first (or the Ninjango/Batman Lego movies either), so it's not surprise really that I did not like this one either. And what's worse, is I thought it was more dumb and less funny than the first.

What Men Want - Ugh, what absolute garbage. Not funny in the least. Just a terrible movie in every single regard. I knew I should have gone to see Cold Pursuit last night, as I figured it would easily be the better movie, but was in the mood for mindless comedy. Bad decision on my part.

Hoping things get better with Alita (seeing it Wednesday night) and later HTTYD3.

Would you compare it to Leaving Las Vegas with Nic Cage due to the similarities of the main character struggles? I could only make it through about 30 minutes of that one before I tapped out.

Not really, those two don't compare at all to me really. I will say LLV was much better than a Star is Born

You could tell What Men Want is just another female reboot, but this time it was the 2000 Mel Gibson movie, What Women Want, which was just okay. I'm guessing this was a movie geared completely toward a female audience.

Speaking of Liam Neeson, saw The Commuter and it was pretty good and not just a redo of the one with him on the plane. I think the next one he's doing is him on a short bus except all of the other people are brilliant scientists.

That almost sounds like you don't care for him.
