What's the plan with Mike White?

I'm fine with picking another. In fact, I want another. But picking the AntiDak shows a lack of a philosophy on QB picks.

There aren’t that many quality QBs to go around, and that’s especially true picking one as late as the 5th round. What would have been better in the 5th round, taking a more traditional pocket passer they felt was better than 5th round talent and they felt good had a chance to be a quality backup, or stretching to take someone they felt was more of a 6th to 7th round talent that they didn’t feel as good about because he was more similar to Dak? Besides, it’s not as if the offensive scheme can only accommodate one or the other.

. 6'4" 225lbs. Throws a rocket. He's gotta be about 6'6" 240lbs by now.

Players don't grow 2 inches in height after age 23, barring some medical problem. Might be heavier, but that would mean he's trying to bulk up, not something quarterbacks do very often.

Besides, Aikman was 6-4 and 228 and won 3 SBs, White's already plenty big enough...

...our field Commander pridefully holds his personal "play pretty" pieces of Esteemed excessive/surplus T.E. TALENT & various other stashed Devin Street/ Lucky Whitehead / Lance Dunbar pet projects of possibly percieved powerhouse playmaker potential ,we're historically known to horde..o_O
Whoa!! That is some rarified air of horded talent!!

White was probably picked so that the defense would have a "big arm" quarterback to practice against. If somehow he developed into an NFL quality quarterback, so much the better.
But he doesn't fit the Cowboys' offensive scheme, not likely they ever envisioned him as competing for the starting job...

So let's get the ball rolling already. What's the plan with Mike White? Big arm. He's been stowed away somewhere all season. 6'4" 225lbs. Throws a rocket. He's gotta be about 6'6" 240lbs by now. Is he going to make Cooper Rush a forgotten man this year? I hear Moore and White are like Tony and Jason. Best buds. Interesting.
develop him. he has the arm, so he will benefit from Kitna and he needs to study a lot of film....lets see how he develops

I saw nothing of White outside of his arm. Slow reaction time etc. Having said that his Oline sucked all PS as well.
He’s got the arm talent
But the hard stuff will take time if it ever comes
This is an important camp and while pushing for a starting job is a bit much I think we need to see progress in those weaknesses
It’s a bigger camp for rush because I just don’t think another camp like last year keeps him on the roster another year

Having a rocket arm means zero if that is all you have. And that seems to be all he has. Jamarcus Russell probably had one of the strongest arms this game has ever seen.

He will be a career backup in this league at best. If you can't beat out the spare Cooper Rush, then that says all that needs to be said.
I find it hard to believe the QBs are that much more indecisive and inaccurate than Dak in practice/camp. This isn't knocking Dak, just stating we know Dak is average in that regard and I'm trying to justify our backups. We had Miles Austin and Wade/JG couldn't see anything with him until after they went after highly overrated Roy Williams and only when he got hurt.

I feel like sometimes teams simply don't give talent a chance. If our QBs are looking that much worse then we need to scrap them instead of wasting time and roster spots.

The plan is that we likely will never hear from him again.

The odds are heavy that he's barely a backup in this league.

Teams should always be developing QB's. And let them showcase their skills in pre season.

If he's not needed by contract time maybe we trade him. You never know.

The Patriots didn't see fit to give Edleman a significant role in the offense until his 5th season, and Brady only got the chance to play because Bledsoe got hurt, so apparently it's not always that easy to know. And, of course, the lower the draft pick the less benefit of the doubt a player will get.

I agree, and I suspect that reality finally sunk in with the Cowboys, and was hammered home when Dak was able to step in and step up as a rookie.

White is a low floor/high ceiling guy. He has all the physical tools to be a good starter in the NFL, but he is a ways off as far as bejng able to manage the pocket.

I think White at this stage would be a sack and INT machine if pressed to play

Remember Stephen McGee? There you go.

Let us all hope White has a much larger upside. His services may become necessary at a moment's notice 2-3 years down the road. He better be ready to step in and step up by then.
Already does McGee had a noodle arm in caparison to White.

It’s only a matter of time

Loses again..dang "glitched" out in practice too..sheesh

If Dak gets worried he'll cry to someone and get him cut like Dez. Dez just asked for the ball in the huddle and it hurt Dak's feelings so we had to cut him..

Throw in Bill P on Miles was UDFA brought in by BP.

Well, isn't the genius known as Kellen Moore coaching Dak and White?

Then they have no choice but to be great
