we need to bring in guys who are tough. just like tom brady said a week or two ago about why the pats are so good. we aren't a tough team. too many players, some of them our top players always hurt. the list is long on both sides of the ball.
Thus the reason why players are tough. Especially Sean Lee. The man has been playing lights out for many years, but yet he's called China doll and other nasty names from some of our fanbase. They honestly think these players never age.

As far as the PATS and what Brady had said is hogwash. They played the RAMS. How "tough" were they against the Egals and Gnats (twice)?!

I still believe had they played the Saints, Brady wouldn't of hoisted #6.

Prescotts deal is 26.6mil per in that article.

Not great, not terrible.
Not great? That's a steal for a franchise QB and not only that but watch deals go easy over 30 million. The market for QBs are just going up and up and if we get Dak at 26 a year then that's team friendly and a great job by they front office

Lynch and Cook both busts at this point, how did Dallas "miss out" on flops? "Missed out" would mean they flourished and Dallas could have had them but got Dak instead.

I would submit the Cowboys "dodged a bullet" by not getting Lynch or Cook. And I was a Cook supporter when he was available in the draft...

I took it the author was saying they really wanted both Lynch and Cook, but were usurped in getting either of them. I.e., they were clueless and got lucky to have been saved from their cluelessness by Denver and Oakland. It doesn't bode well of their ability to identify the right QB if they were to make the stupid mistake of going away from Dak.

Hard to say really especially about Lynch as the Broncos O-line has been awful for years. Evidence to date isn't in his favour but he didn't have the same opportunity as Prescott.

It's very difficult to compare Prescott with any other QB on other teams as no other QB with similar experience has had the assistance on offense that he has over the past three years.

THIS! And it's like the least talked about yet most glaringly obvious evidence to support my perception of the Cowboys starting QB as well. Just another complimentary piece in my eyes. Proven inconsistent NFL passing ability/accuracy does not warrant discussion of a long term deal in my opinion.
And with Smittys health kinda in a state of flux...Post Atlanta syndrome lurking right around the next first place schedule encounter...

Never mind, prolly just me.

Tlaw turns 27 in April and should be in line for a deal at or near the top of the market, comparable to what Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack received last offseason. He's not necessarily quite as good as those two players, but he is very close and is both the best available defender on the market this offseason and one with a ton of leverage.

If the 'Boys franchises him again, they may not be able to afford a long-term deal next year. They need to lock him in now before Daks extension kicks in.
DLaw isn't getting a deal like what they received.

Yep. That's exactly what the author meant, and he was right. The fates saved them from their own awful decisions not once, but twice.

Well, I said 5 year 92-95m with 58-60 guaranteed for Dlaw. Said putting it at 100m to make the annual 20m a year and him and his agent can say hes the highest paid de wouldn't be a issue. That contract would be right with Jones who is the highest paid right now. With that said, I'm not a fan of it with his issues and the fact he disappears for 3/4 of the season but it's a fair contract and not a lot of options.

I said Dak would get 25-28m and the guaranteed is what we need to worry about in any contract, not the overall money. 80m isn't bad.

That depends on what you categorize as "very good".

Certainly not a "very good" return on investment.
He’s the best 3tech we have though and he is a gritty and tough guy. I agree we could get better but he definitely is a good solid player

LOL.......we're a run-first team

Funny thing is @Swagger was referencing Romo's numbers from the last full season (34-9).
We were a run first team that year as well with Murray taking 392 carries for a league leading
and team record 1845 yards.

Romo had a QB rating of 113.2 and probably should've been the NFL MVP that year.

Dak has rushed for 6 TDs in each of his three seasons so I think it's fair to include those in
his numbers. With the addition of Cooper and Gallup entering his second year, 28 TDs in
the passing game should be reachable.... and Zeke will still lead the league in rushing.

Comparisons to Cousins is not apples to apples.

Cousins was a free agent after being franchise tagged twice. Dak is three years away from that. We can effectively have Dak from now on a 3-year 55m contract with zero guaranteed(4th year + 2 x franchise tag). Once that happens, then comparisons to Cousins can be made. Until then, the threat of franchise tag and playing on his 4th-year rookie contract reduces his bargaining power and ability to command top dollar.
