In case anyone is wondering........... even if you take the low end of the annual pay of $27MM. Here are your QB rankings in average annual:

1) Rodgers - $33.5MM
2) Ryan - $30MM
3) Cousins - $28MM
4) Jimmy G - $28.5MM
5) Prescott - $27MM
5) Stafford - $27MM

Now before anyone says, well Dak is as good (or better) than Cousins or Stafford............. note that people don't consider what Cousins signed or Jimmy G signed as really good contracts for their respective teams.
Note that the best QB in the history of the game with 6 rings is not even in the top 5 in salary.

So Dak and his 1-2 playoff record is being paid more than Brady.

Haaaaaaaaaaaabaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

Did Dak truly decide against this or did the Cowboys wave those dollars in his face? If it's the latter, he'd be a fool not to take it.

And Tom Brady has been playing in this league since Prescott was seven years old. At this point he can afford to take a discount because he's made his money already.

Players are always after their first "big" contract after their rookie year because anything can happen (injuries, mainly) and that opportunity can't be passed by. 33 wins over three seasons means Prescott will get the going rate for what above-average QB's in this league get these days.
There’s only like 8 of us but it’s nice to see other posters with common sense and rationale.

Above average is correct.......that’s Dak

$30 mill a year is elite money, that’s Aaron Rogers money.

Dak is not elite and paying him like he is Rogers 2.0 is just stupid.

No, I think the other posters on here do have common sense. Even I realize Dak isn't in the upper tier of NFL quarterbacks; and I am one of his staunchest supporters.

If Dallas pays Dak this kind of money and he craters, they are in deep, deep trouble. But nothing I have seen from Dak yet suggests he will crater. He took the league by surprise as a rookie, fell back to earth a bit in 2017, and was hindered early in 2018 by a struggling o-line and receiving corps. Once the line play improved and Amari Cooper arrived, we saw the "old" Dak back again.

Now, I'm sure the argument will be, "Dak can only win with a strong supporting cast". Well, isn't that true of almost any QB not named Tom Brady? How many games did Aaron Rodgers win last year on a roster that was decimated by injury?

I think the deal will average about that much per year because it will be backloaded and probably have some bonuses and incentives worked in. The Cowboys can announce a deal for that amount while Dak's actual yearly pay will probably be at least $10 million lower than that

Contract expected to be worth 27-30 M annually.

*I’ll post the source as soon as I can get the link*

I told you guys once but half the forum chose to ignore all the things said by the Joneses and Dak.

“Oh but he should be paid 18M because he’s not a top 5 guy.”

“Oh well even qb’s in the top 10 aren’t paid 25+.”

“Franchise qbs get 23M.”

Those same guys who make 22 now will make 32 their next contract. It’s called a market. Understand it and get over it.

PS. If you think this is fake news you’re literally setting yourself up to be crushed. Just accept it now.

Can’t afford all these surrounding pieces if you pay the QB Aaron Rogers money.

See Brady and the Pats. Brady takes way below what he could get so the Pats can add other pieces to win rings.

Dak has apparently decided against this and just wants to get paid. No hometown discount.

To be fair, his first few years here were a bit of a discount when you consider he was getting under $1 mil as a starting QB.

Do the owners get drug tested? A contract like that for Dak Prescott should be offered on April 1st. All the Cowboys have to do is Transition tag Dak and they save about 15 million. But again, owners need to be drug tested.

If the deal is truly for that much, I suspect it will be a frontloaded deal with lots of incentives and up-front bonuses. There's lots of ways to fit a big contract like that under the cap.

And I have no problem with the money. If Kirk Cousins is worth $84 million for winning nothing, Dak should get paid after winning 33 games his first three seasons.

Oh, wait, Cousins is more accurate than Dak. I forgot that wins don't matter. Tighter spirals do.
As a Cowboys fan, what Kirk Cousins makes should mean little, unless you think the Vikings are paying him what hes worth.
Do you?

I’m a fan of Dak, but that is too much money. We won’t be able to sign enough other good players to win a championship.

This is interesting.

1) Rodgers - $33.5MM Packers, no playoffs
2) Ryan - $30MM Atlanta, no playoffs
3) Cousins - $28MM, Minnesota, no playoffs
4) Jimmy G - $28.5MM, San Francisco, no playoffs
5) Prescott - $27MM, What will the Cowboys do if this is the contract?
5) Stafford - $27MM, Detroit, no playoffs

Actually, 3-4 years from now #5 will likely have dropped out top 10.

Nope. But that deal set the bar for every QB deal everywhere in the league.

I guarantee you Dak's agent will bring up the Cousins deal. And when the Vikings signed Cousins he had a 26-30-1 record. Dak Prescott is now 32-16.

It's the market, live with it. Today's overpayment is tomorrow's bargain. Because those Qbs behind him will leapfrog him when they're up.

God bless you child:clap::clap::clap:........someone gets it. It's not Dak or the Cowboys fault, it's the market and not darn thing anyone can do if they wanna keep their STARTING QB.
