You don’t know basketball. Lebron took less when he went to Miami. KD also doesn’t have a max contract right now. He’ll get one once he leaves the Warriors. He was chasing rings because he didn’t want to be like Charles Barkley.

Yeah that league is doing great.

Players reap as much of the benefit as they can under the cap. Everything else is owner and league money which faaaaaar out paces what the players "reap" from the selfless owners who are only there to stay the course and ensure success. I'm not even going to start in on the owners promoting the players and helping them from the goodness of their achy break hearts.

There would always be players. If some of the current players didnt want to play, eventually, most would give in and cross the picket lines. An event I keep hoping happens at each collective bargaining stoppage.

3. Everyone's entitled to their opinion... and/but... also irrelevant... because whatever one thinks about the Cowboys' future, the fact remains there are teams Lee could have actively pursued with a higher probability of reaching the SB, in order to chase a ring.

4. Irrelevant... the comparison made isn't about the impact of the player, but about the ATTITUDE and INTEGRITY of the player.

I know basketball very, very well. Try me.

Now, in hindsight, I probably shouldn't have mentioned the money part because that seems to distract from the real point. But I think Lee could have made more money somewhere else, and have been promised a starting job... yes, there are teams that fill holes in FA hoping a veteran star player's injury history won't follow him. Happens all the time. Would NE have been one of those? Would LAR have been one of those? Would KC have been one of those? Would NO have been one of those? Maybe.

And/but your last sentence is correct.

And/but Charles Barkley deserves respect that Durant does not. He didn't take the easy way. He didn't manipulate things to make the ring happen for him. And as you imply, there's a legacy benefit to being able to say "I won a ring." But you won your ring by taking a shortcut. And for anyone who cares about integrity, that's a problem.

He is one of the ring brat brotherhood now.

Sometimes is not what players make but who's making it. Also, it's hard to look down on someone who out-earns you 100s of times over hence the character assassinations and "moral superiority" arguments by envious fans.

Right? Fans love to clamor that players only care about money, not the game. Then if a player switches teams because he wants to win, he's wrong then too because he cares about the game "the wrong way." I don't begrudge any player that can't stand fans. A lot are idiots.

Speaking of community colleges, seems the actual meaning of "passive aggressive" evades some people.

Posts 52 and 85 are direct responses. Nothing passive aggressive about it.

But that's just for those of us who come here to "discuss," of course. People can believe what they want to believe. Always have, always will.
