He's a big name that will come relatively cheap because of injuries, especially if his contract involves incentives involving playing time. Signing him would make it look like they are making a big move when really they are just trying to save face.

It makes a ton of sense.

Well, that, and he is pretty damn good when he's gotten on the field.

Is someone suggesting the buyer shouldn't beware?

If I'm being taken that way, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to be. I thought I said that it's a matter for investigation by the crack medical staff.

Depending on that, make a decision.

But don't automatically rule it out just on the basis of what you know... I'm reading a whole lot more of that than I am, "go ahead and sign him up."

The reason he's available at all?

Now c'mon. You're an intelligent person. The Chiefs were gambling big money on his performance if they didn't release him before 3/15. We and the other teams in the league have no such disincentive to consider him.

I am an intelligent person, and my math skills are excellent.

$30 million + 3 games played over two seasons = one big cut.

Hey, if you can guarantee me that it's an incentive-only deal where he gets paid only when he plays? Sign me up! If there's any risk involved and he gets paid if and when he doesn't? I have no interest, and neither should this team.

It's the same stance I had with the Tyler Eifert talk.

But I'm not paying him anything resembling what he was making, and certainly not taking the risk without protecting myself.

Now you're dodging.

Your question was why would the Chiefs let him go.

The answer is less about the money already spent, and not that they don't like the player... but indeed, who in their right mind gambles a net $7m loss ($15m total) on a guy in that condition, even if he's great when he gets on the field?

No one.

But take away that disincentive, and the Chiefs seem to have loved the player and would have preferred to keep him.

I don't know what I don't know. Until I know it, I can't say what a reasonable offer would be.

But you appear to either know something I don't, or you're just presumptuous to decide on an appropriate offer without bothering.

You're welcome to stick with that approach, and I'll stick with mine. I'm confident it's more reasonable to wait and let the evidence lead to a conclusion.

I say why not.

If we’re going to end up with Heath at FS regardless, maybe Berry could get some of that Jaylon juice and make a recovery

maybe 1 year deal - incentive based.

Abso freakin lutely! We showed interest in George Iloka last year too. I can see both being better than Heath. heath for depth and dime DB. Surely to Christmas this team can look at Berry, Iloka or Boston and see an improvement over Heath. Isn't Richard the DB whisperer. Good lord Richard, step up man

We have to get him if he is healthy.

Seems he is healthy. He played the last 3 games.

The question for our crack medical staff to answer seems more to be... will he be healthy after going through the rigors of preseason, and throughout the real games.

How exactly to you "take that away"? Is this Fantasy Land now? It is exactly the reason why he was released and is available. And exactly the reason why I want nothing to do with that risk.

Take a guess, give your own opinion.

It sounds like you just want to think that "reasonable" align with your weay of thinking, and your obvious hope that the Cowboys make a deal with a guy who has been nothing but damaged goods for two years and three of the last five.

The NFL is a results business and I've had more than enough of paying guys who don't get those results. And the Chiefs obviously did too.

Unless he'll play for peanuts, they will have no interest. Must preserve the cap space for Dak's crippling megadeal.

No, he didn't even do that, check your facts. He played in games 14 and 15 and then didn't play again until the second game of the playoffs. Even "healthy" wasn't healthy.

Nonsense. Balderdash. Fiddlesticks. All that.

The money already spent is the money already spent.

No one cares what was lost.

What they care about is what's coming up... and what's coming up is a 3/15 deadline that, had they kept him after Friday, they were gambling on his health IN THE FUTURE.

I don't know his health situation. But this is one class individual that would fit in well with this locker room. i categorize him as a football player
