I admit I thought he'd be a good run stuffer here. The problem was he was a better fit in the 3-4. Kerry Hyder is a 4-3 player all the way. And Covington looks like he can play in any scheme.
Thornton was above all else a bad fit and he had a bad contract on top of it all.

I will be honest, I don't see exactly how Hyder fits. And the contract has not been posted yet.

Hey I looked up his stats. Taco has more tackles than him in the last two years. Was he injured in 2017 & 2018?

11 tackles in 2018 and 7 tackles in 2017 for Berry

27 and 19 for Taco.

Leave it to "Mr. Inside Information" Fisher to be the last to know and report that Berry is actually coming in for a visit on Tuesday!
What a maroon!!!
:lmao2:
Makes you wonder what poor souls actually pay for his "insider information" service.

Hyder is a Marinelli-type end. He has a non-stop motor and will fit in as a nickel rusher, in my opinion. He will probably play as often as Randy Gregory did last year.

As for his contract, all I know is it's a one year deal. So if Hyder ends up being a bad fit he's gone in 2020.

We now have tackles for an injured player measured against the part-time mediocrity of Taco Charlton.

I'd rather have 3-4 4th tier depth signings than a bonfire NFL caliber signing
At the end of the day, they add up to be the same. The whole point there is that it is harder to hit at four signings as it is to hit on one.

Since no other teams show much interest the Jones boys are gonna be the envy of the league on how fast they swooped in and scooped him up.

Unless hes really cheap not sure why they would sign him. Heath would still play most of the year most likely.

So, he is signing aboard for nothing so he can play for a contender?

Tell me more.

The reality is this. Berry and Thomas came into the league at a time where draft position was a huge deal for contracts. So much so that Berry got 6 years at 60 mill on his rookie deal. Earl got 5 years at 18.

ET became a free agent earlier and got a 4 year 40 mill deal.

Berry was franchised in year 6 for 10.8 mill. Then signed a massive 6 year, 78 mill deal. He saw 42.5 mill if that.

Earl earned 58 mill. Berry earned almost twice that.

Should be obvious that Berry would be more likely to play on a 1 year deal with per game incentives than Thomas who missed the truly giant paydays twice.

This is so sad, it's almost funny.

The Joneses find a way to get fans' hopes up before pulling the rug out from under them with a low-ball offer that no good player will except, even a damaged one like Berry.
