DO SOMETHING IN FREE AGENCY

*Sign a solid vet who fills a known need*

WHAT A TERRIBLE MOVE

And round and round we go

No, I ask to make GOOD signings in FA. You know, like filling the need at safety and DT - which we have refused to fill with actual talent in over a decade.

I'm not at all excited about an injury prone skill player.

This is a good move.

He is a solid replacement for Beasley and comes at a cheaper price than Beasley signed for.

Anybody complaining about this signing is just nitpicking or being dramatic.

If Randall Cobb is your #3 receiver, your receiving Corp is doing well. The receiving Corp we will field this season is light years better than going into last season.

and *** else do you expect for a 3-5th option., Beasly was NOT lighting it up EVERY GAME.. its how it works when you arent a 1 or 2 option.. we have that covered..clueless..jeez the guy is a 3rd or 4th option offers depth if Hurns gets cut or cant make it back..

chances are not a lot pof targets after Amari, Gallup, Witten, and JRWIN TO GO TO brown, Wilson, Hurns, OR Cobb..it will be a game to game whos hot and who happens tpo eb able to beat the guy in front of them THAT game..if Beasly was such a big loss why did we need Amari.. he wasn't soing squat as a primary target..so that wont be expected of Cobb either but payer with potential tpo have that big game here or there is all we can expect..even hurns didnt do whole lot but those few games late he was coming on even the game he had the injury he was playing well..

now ill agree it was odd to give Hurns his bonus and keep him given the injury and nmoney plus adding Cobb..maybe premature signing Hurns

"Beasley and Hurns sucked! Why do you care that Cobb sucks?"

Is this going to be the argument? I guess, us being stuck in a perpetual mediocre state is not surprising.

Seriously????

I bet I can name 10 guys you could get on day 3 of the draft that would have given you the same production....

Here we go...

1. Mecole Hardman WR/KR Georgia
2. Stanley Morgan Jr Nebraska
3. Emanuel Hall WR Missouri
4. Dredrick Snelson WR UCF
5. Jovon Durante WR Florida Atlantic
6. Greg Dortch WR/KR Wake Forest
7. Terry Mclaurin WR Ohio St.
8. Tyron Johnson WR Oklahoma St.
9. Hunter Renfrow WR Clemson
10. Terry Godwin WR/KR Georgia

There is no way those 10 players put up the same production as Cobb this upcoming season, unless Cobb gets hurt.

Rookie receivers take time to develop. Cobb is a veteran who can produce starting game 1.

Also, signing Cobb doesn’t prevent the cowboys from drafting a receiver if they want to.

....and that's slow as hell. I posted that yesterday. Bad Bears D.

Watch the rest of the season - he can't get separation anymore. He also had another nagging injury upon many, another year older. He's slow as heck for a WR.

That bad Bears defense gave up the 3rd fewest yards and fewest points in the NFL last season. If they were bad, what was everyone else?

Not saying he is fast, but come one man.

I like it.....................Now if they can nab a decent safety and maybe even a defensive tackle before the draft , they can go into it with a true BPA mindset and take the highest rated one on their board....................

It was week 1 - did you actually watch the second half of that game? Rodgers came in and lit them up. The Bears D got worn down and couldn't make plays.

They got Rodgers the second time round.

Just to vouch for Cobb, he's being brought in to replace Beasley, and we're saving $1 mil over what we intended to pay Beasley had he stayed. Yes, Cobb has a bit of an injury history, and that was likely factored into the contract. Plus, while the announcement says 1 year $5 mil, I don't believe we saw what the guarantees were for it. So, it's quite likely that there are some incentives built in should he stay healthy. I'd like us to get a safety and DT as well. However, Cobb is a good move for us. Still lots of time to get the safety and DT. I fully expect us to draft a S and DT anyway. However, we've got a lot of time to see who comes available. Personally, I'd like to see us get Justin Houston next, if we can get him on a decent deal.

"Cole Beasley Production (Top) vs Randall Cobb. Cobb has appeared in 2 more games than Cole."

I know he has dealt with head and hammy issues but on a 1 year prove it deal, I like it.

Replacing your starting slot receiving with an often injured slot receiver is not a good replacement - it could be argued it's a downgrade. I'm fine with letting Beasley go, he's replaceable, but this is another Hurns and Austin signing. These dudes aren't going to do anything for us. Cobb will be injured by week 3, and who is up after that?
