The "secondary" leagues always fail........we all knew it would fail even before the first game was played.
For me it was like NFL training camp who can we steal. The "secondary" leagues always fail........we all knew it would fail even before the first game was played.
What AAF player would make an NFL roster? The Rams knew who Kurt Warner was and he was bagging groceries. There's not a player on Earth who NFL scouts aren't aware of.....and they found Kurt Warner without a minor league...so what's your point?
He's referring to practice time with guys who actually belong in the NFL.
Young and veteran doesn't matter. The players in the AAF suck, they won't make NFL rosters. If they do, they're bottom guys who aren't worth developing, because they're replaceable.
No, that's not what I said.
But you're dumb if you think a team is going to have a 4th rounder go play 8-10 exhibition games in the offseason and risk injury. You can't develop players in the NFL with extra games outside of the season. No league is stupid enough to risk injury to talent like that. The guys who teams would be comfortable devleoping like that are UDFA types, who cost nothing. But when you have a minor league like that, they become real expensive. It's not worth it for a bottom roster player.
I think on the most part I’d agree but there could be some borderline talent that with more exposure in these games might have been more attractive to a NFL roster. At least possibly invited to camp. What AAF player would make an NFL roster? The Rams knew who Kurt Warner was and he was bagging groceries. I think you might have been a little over zealous. Ron is right. None of the leagues had made it. There’s always hope but most should have been suspect. For me it was like NFL training camp who can we steal.
I was assuming it already was like a defacto B league for the NFL. That's a good idea actually. BETTER than NFL Europe.
I was busy watching March Madness all weekend so I didn’t flip over to any of their games.Nothing official from the AAF themselves that I see....
I didn't expect it to be around long. I was actually watching it truly to see who we could steal. But I love watching football I don't care who's playing . Show me people don't watch the competition and they have the most to say. Not everybody obviously it's just in general but my point still is thereI think you might have been a little over zealous. Ron is right. None of the leagues had made it. There’s always hope but most should have been suspect.
No doubt it could survive as a minor league with NFL.That's what I've been talking about and advocating for. Instead of the Birmingham Shmoes that nobody knows or cares about, put the Cowboys name and star on it and see how much more attention it gets. This is yet another halfway attempt doomed to failure.
Arena wasn't a minor league. They fouind Kurt Warner is their version of the minor league. Thats the point. I thought it would be obvious.
Is he? You speak for him now too?
Tell yourself whatever fables you'd like. There are AAF guys who were and who will be in NFL training camps this year. Just like there were guys like Tommie Maddox who revitalized their careers playing in the XFL and got back to the NFL.
It's exactly what you said. Maybe it's just yet another thing you would like to reconsider.
The "dumb" guy was the one who failed to realize that there are actually players between "first round" and "bottom feeders". Start with that guy.
Major League Baseball and the NBA both disagree. But jump through more hoops while you're at it.
Be more wrong about this.
Arena wasn't a minor league.
The XFL wasn't a minor league either.
Yes he obviously is. Obviously.
At what point did I say the NFL consists of only 1st-round talent and bottom-roster guys? Please show me. I never said anything close to that.
No actual NFL players are going to play another 8-10 games. The only guys who could "develop" are UDFA and roster fodder type players who are easy to find anyways.
They don't need more scouting and talent acquisition.
It's not bringing in any money, otherwise, the AAF and every other league wouldn't keep folding. You're also talking about adding salary and other operating costs. It would absolutely cost millions to run teams, and at the end of the day, you're talking about developing bottom-roster players. It's not worth it. It isn't like baseball or hockey where a first-round pick can develop for two years in the minors.
Neither has an offseason minor league. The G League and minors run at the same time so that guys can be moved up and down. Same thing in hockey.
twist, no championship in Frisco for jerry
that is not even close to what I said LMAO.Your own shallow thinking shows that they're either "first rounders" or UDFA and roster fodder types". Nothing in-between.
that is not even close to what I said LMAO.
You're going to leave out the next post where I mentioned a 4th-rounder too?
I don't know the talent was pretty equal which made for decent game. Well that's my opinion. But it took me a couple of games to get into it
That's exactly why I was watching the games. Who can we steal.Currently, the NFL is not allowed to sign any AAF players until after their playoffs complete.
If I was Dallas, I would be on the phone with the agents of the following players:
Jamar Summers CB Birmingham
Karter Schult DE Salt Lake City
Mekale McKay WR San Antonio
Rashad Ross WR Arizona
Tyson Graham S Atlanta
Max Redfield S Birmingham
