Dallas should explore Dak trade value

Just my opinion, but I don't care about the price going up. I'd rather pay top dollar for a player I know is worth his weight than risk paying him close to that and have him bust. If we go 8-8 this season he isn't worth 15M a year. I don't want the Cowboys hamstrung with a big contract. I am not willing to take that kind of risk with this specific quarterback. Not yet.
Why do you think he might bust? He has never had a losing season and has won the east 2 out of 3 years including going to the probowl 2 of 3 years.

This isn't about Romo. No matter what you think about Romo and the teams he has had, none were like this one except the 2007 team. And in that year we had two freak teams besides the Cowboys. A 16-0 Patriots team and a team able to beat them! How often do we see that? That 2007 Cowboys team was good enough to win most of the years since then, give or take a few. I'd say that 2007 team could win the SB in every year except 2009 and 2013. This 2019 team should be as every bit as good as 2007. Yes coaching plays a role. I realize that. But I wouldn't be paying a QB based on a coaching change.
You think Romo only had a good team in 07? Maybe you should watch more games...... Romo had teams where his defense gave up 0 points 2 games straight

I'll be honest. With our talent I'm looking for a serious run this upcoming season. We haven't been as talented all around since 2007, maybe better. If we go 10-6, squeak by the wildcard round and get tossed in the divisional round I'm looking for a new QB.
So you would blame the QB for what's been going on for years........perhaps you should blame the coach and front office, not the franchise QB.

After Stephan comments about Dak needing to sign team friendly deal and Dak on record as saying there will be no discount...an impasse is coming. Rather than get into issue of is Dak good or not, what could Cowboy get in trade if long term deal can't be agreed upon.

Note:
Denver received TWO 1st & 3rd for Jay Cutler
Cincy received 1st & 2nd for Carson Palmer
Eagles received 1st & 4th round pick for Sam Bradford.

If your Stephan, what would you need back in trade?

Note: this is not to get into large debate about if Dallas should or shouldn't do this but merely an exercise in what you think his current trade value is.

I understand a level of frustration with Dak but his W-L is pretty incredible for his first 3 years and one as a rookie. He’s not great yet but he’s quite good. You can pick apart the game of about every starting QB not named Brady, Roth, Brees, or Rodgers (all BTW are first ballot HOFers and one is easily the GOAT). Bill Parcells would love Dak. He rarely turns the ball over and that alone, along with a good D will win you a ton of games. The biggest problem with trading Dak is its REALLY hard to find a quality starting QB. Plenty of can’t miss top of the draft guys who are busts so that’s a huge risk and the only other option is taking a journeyman and hoping they somehow turn into Cinderella in your system, which almost never rarely happens unless you have a system so ingenius like Bill Walsh that it requires a unique skill set. (Pretty sure we have no ingenuity on our staff)
I firmly believe we can win big with Dak and the talent we have. Dak has won a lot of games and performed in the clutch. Ours coaches have not. It wasn’t Dak unable to figure out how to block a barely above average DE in Atlanta with Tyron out. It wasn’t Dak that couldn’t stop the Rams backup RB going for a million yards.

I am not making it about Romo, I was just saying that making the playoffs and being 1 and done has been happening before Dak. I think that when you get to the playoffs teams are more evenly matched and coaching starts to come more into play. I wonder sometimes if our HC was belichick or even Jimmy Johnson in 2007 if we would have done better. Or the other years we made the playoffs. But back to the QB. I think they pay the man. They are convinced after 3 years that he is the future. So if they are gonna do it anyways then save some money and just do it.

That's my entire thing, if Dak has the ball in the 4th quarter or overtime I'm 100 percent confident he will score. I'm not sure any QB in the league right now is more clutch as Dak
Tell why was he not able to do that against Carolina, Seattle, Washington, Tennessee in winnable games in the 4th. Looking absolutely inept if he's the most clutch QB in the league right now. Just because Dak is a "good guy" and gives the bland PC answers in the press conference ugh. If he's that clutch he doesn't go 1-10 on 3rd down against LA and we get a cheap score late for false hope before the defense implodes on the Rams last drive. Dak's off the hook now. I just can't deal. Who says you don't move on. It's the same with Romo.

I wish him the best and will be rooting for him. But I have eyes. He's not an elite QB. It's really not more complicated than that. He's not even Tony Romo and I don't think he was an elite QB. That's why.

Fine. I watched the 2009 season. I didn't think the Cowboys stood a remote chance of winning the SB that year anymore than we did in 1991. Two good teams, no chance at winning it all. But I can only speak for myself.

I am not as confident as you are based on what I've seen over three years.

Go to the .34 second mark. Dak will never be able to throw that pass, ever. It's not rocket science, it's knowing your QB. But it makes a big difference in the team talent you need around your QB to be successful.

Just because he is clutch in the 4th doesn't mean he wins every time and thats stupid if you believe it should be. Not even Brady wins every time.

Next you are putting the 3rd down conversions soley on Dak but if you watched you see most of them was because Zeke got hardly any yards and sometimes negative yards on first and second downs. If you research you would see a very good member on here broke down every drive.

Maybe you didn't see Dak be clutch against Seattle in the playoffs or against Philly or against Tampa to win the division. Tennessee won by double digits not sure how you think he isn't clutch by that.

Romo was an elite QB but i do agree that Dak isn't elite.....yet. I have never said he was elite. What i have said is he is very good and a franchise QB. Yes you have eyes but eyes can be bias, i will be making a post today proving the Dak haters/doubters wrong on almost everything they say regarding Dak.

I think saints, Vikings and the Cowboys all had very good chances to win it from the NFC. Romo has had more good teams then those 2 by the way

The earth is flat by the way.

That being said no there is a difference between elite and franchise QB.

Eli was a franchise QB but never elite. Ryan, Newton, etc are all franchise QBs but not elite.

Elite QBs are Brady, Brees and Rodgers.
