So if they got the 15th best te you think he would start for the cowboys and be a star from day 1? Lol

Genius stuff.
sorry, but I wouldn't draft a tightend end because anyone with a brain knows Witten isn't coming off the field anyway regardless of the limited snap talk, he's not wired that way and the cowboys should have never resigned him, love the guy but it was time to move on from him..

yeah here's a tip fo you......every time you hear garrett or the clown GM tell you player A can play multiple positions, alarm bells should go off in your head, because what they really mean is, we think he's good at multiple posiioins, just not not GREAT at any one of those positions......
Um no......actually Connor played both guard and center in college. As they needed him. And I’m sure they could groom him for tackle if that’s what they needed.

Just like Collins went from guard to tackle.

So your all about need only whether it’s a good pick or not?

Never mind. Your not worthy of a rational conversation.

oh another one of thee he did this or did that in college, the NFL is about measureables not where a guy played in college, Martin played left tackle at notre dame, his measureables makes him an elite all pro right guard....Collins was a left tackle/guard in college, his measurables make him a left guard but looks like a duck out of water at right tackle, again round peg is square hole, the cowboy organizational never admit they made a mistake logic......

Why does he need to start this year?

You short sighted fans have no clue how to run a franchise. When you look at needs you go two years out, not one.

The team drafted a backup with intentions to play musical chairs with an all-pro and a higher rated player to justify the pick?

It has nothing to do with short sightedness. We drafted a guy who has not path to starting unless we move around players. What sense does that make?

We got pushed around in the offensive and defensive trenches last year in a few games and it's pretty obvious they noticed that and are addressing it.

NFL Comparison
Rodger Saffold

Overview
Reliable run blocker with NFL-ready size and strength but exploitable holes in his pass sets that need to be addressed as quickly as possible. His starting experience at both center and guard could bring additional interest in McGovern, who would be a bigger, stronger option at center for teams facing odd-front power in their division. He is a good fit in gap and inside-zone run schemes, but his tendency to over-set in pass protection could be challenging to correct. He's an early starter as a Day 2 pick, but Year 1 could have ups and downs.
Strengths
  • Starting experience as both a guard and center
  • NFL body type with broad upper body and good lower-body thickness
  • Works well in double teams
  • Can punch and carry target while the double block settles in
  • Stays wide and can play wide
  • Good catch-run-and-secure transitioning on zone blocks
  • Bends effectively for desired pad level
  • Able to dig opponents anchor out on down blocks
  • Consistent hand placement as run blocker
  • Not easily bull-rushed
  • Can open hips and make athletic recoveries when beaten
  • Decent redirect power in pass protection.
Weaknesses
  • Hands too wide in pass protection
  • Needs more consistent angles up to second level
  • Inconsistent timing up to second block on combos
  • Measured lateral movement lacks desired quickness
  • Uses gallop steps to mirror edge-running 3-techniques
  • Tends to over-set and open inside counters
  • Gets caught out over his toes
  • Will lean and lunge for redirect in pass protection
  • Inside post becomes a target due to over-sets
  • Needs better reaction time and awareness to twists

A pick with some forward thinking, nice! We usually blame the FO for being reactive not pro-active. It's a proactive pick given Collins contract being up in 2020 and the ability to possibly slide C Will over to RT in 2020 with a natural move of C McG to RG. Smart pick

Maybe you just don't get it? That's ok, move on.

Cool is Connor moving to RT?
Another guy who can play C/G insurance in case Frederick cant go? Maybe the team isnt as sold on Looney as we think. As the season went on the limitations showed.

I think you're close.

But I would peg Martin moving to RT in '20.

Only for this season… Which is understandable for a 3rd rounder.

Next season he starts at guard, with Williams or Martin (most likely) kicking out to RT because Collins will not be resigned.

Safety was the obvious choice when our pass defense has been average at best and we are consistently bottom of the league in ints. Not a backup o lineman when weve invested so much in the group

Im with you brother, I wanted a safety as well. However, if we took BPA and no safety was close then we did the right thing. It pains me to say that the right thing was another Olineman. Im assuming Dallas was very high on the kid to take a position we don't immediately need help in.

Also I think we are expecting Woods to continue to improve and Iloka to be better than advertised in the box. We are expecting Richard to pull a Marinelli and get the most out of our current safety group. I did find it interesting to see Iloka's measurables stacked up against Chancelor and they are virtually identical. Clearly measurements dont tell the whole story, but I expect he will be on the field more than Heath this season.

Either way Id be lying if I liked our draft so far, but I believe in this staff much more than my own humble opinion.

why oh why did they go OL and a G? his knowing our needs were more Safety and TE and maybe a return type RB2 etc and we go G? Xavier and Looney have that covered..very odd..
