I don't put it all on Dak, some I do because he holds onto the ball far too long, but the Bengals offensive line coach didn't help, Frederick missing the full season, Smith a shell of himself because of constant back injury and spasms Collins who is better suited as a guard, not right tackle and Martin's knee injury, there's plenty of blame to go around when it come to the offensive line play or lack thereof

Sure, Dak can work on that. All players have stuff they can improve on, and that is certainly one of the things Dak can improve on. I was just replying to the post above, and the belief that was commonly held during the season, that half of the sacks were Dak's fault, which is ridiculous.

True and makes this pick of McGovern at 90 a quality pick in my view. If he starts Day 1 or works his way into the lineup Draft picks are more long term solutions not quick fix
I don't have a problem with the player, I think he graded much higher, it's just a little perplexing that an offensive tackle or even a safety wasn't the way to go....but I don't see anyone in this draft class as a day one starter, Hill will be a rotational player but unless there's a trade of Collins, I don't see McGovern seeing the active roster all year

I just believe Dak has been regressing somewhat since his rookie season.....

Well, we will just have to agree to disagree. To me, your offensive line goes through struggles, you have the worst WR group in the NFL, your numbers will go down, like at the beginning of the year.

What happened when we switched back to Columbo(not that fixed all of the issues), we traded for Cooper, and Gallup came on? A career second-half of the season, and a playoff run.

I think they must have had McGovern rated a lot higher than anyone else on their board even those considered a position of need to the extent they were willing to grab him. I think the pick also represents a commitment to the OL not just looking for short term fixes

For this season yes. Both players probably wont start in 2019. They were picks to impact the 2020 season if everything goes according to plan.
Does that mean we wasted pick 90?
No. You have to have Depth just in case some one goes down. If you font have depth you have to ho get it. So no it's not a wasted pick and the beauty of it is McGovern and Hill are starter quality, but they wont have to start until maybe next season.

From what I have read on him, he is nasty run blocker but needs to develop more pass blocking and recognition. So let him sit a year and see what happens if he doesn't beat out someone this for a starting position.

Could be a rotation going on and see who is the best. For all we know Collins maybe beat out of his starting position. I like the depth we have. Let’s get a sub LT for Tyron and get him some rest here and there..

It gets to the point where how much resources do we dump into a position group before it becomes ridiculous. Especially since the most expensive O line in the league gave up the 2nd most sacks in the league

It's called building on strength and forward thinking and I see it as a good thing. In the short term we have good competition and depth at G/C. LC is not for long with williams moving to RT when he leaves.

Easy Jerry. Our great wall of dallas in the 90's was built with udfas.

Step, Allen, and Williams were all top 100 picks of the team. Kennard, Gesek, and Donaldson were top 100 picks that came over in VFA.

You really like to spout things off with no idea of the reality of what happened. Have fun fixating on Tuinei and newton and pretend that the USFL never happened.

Gesek was a 10th round pick 294 overall. That would be a udfa in today's nfl. Tuinei and Newton were both undrafted. so we had 2 3rd round picks and 3 undrafted guys. We right now have the most expensive line in the league with 3 first round picks, bribed 1 would be 1st round pick, a 2nd, now a 3rd. I mean enough is enough

They also have a QB who doesn't know how to throw the ball away. Not saying the OLine is amazing but just saying it aint all their fault.

I like how you ignore the other examples. You do not argue honestly, last word is yours.

We're talking about a rookie. At one point last year filo went in for William's. William's went in for zack. And looney filled in for freddy. All simultaneously.

Should be an open competition at LG between Sua Filo, Willams and McGovern. The competition should make each player better, and hopefully one of your draft picks wins the job.
