Not only that, its the top 5-8 players in the league that have some sort of problem with it. You think solid role player guys like Trevor Ariza, JJ Redick, Kyle Korver, and 2nd tier players have a problem with it?

It seems to be a narrative out there because of what Kevin Durant said, but he was also looking at it through a prism of being a top player in the league. Kevin Durant and players like him are seeking a specific type of validation that they will not get playing with LeBron.
I think it's more than just a couple elite guys but I also think it goes both ways.
In CLE he wore on guys and the pressure to win can be misery for some younger players.
But yes he obviously drew AD in big time.
A lot will be known in how the Lakers fill out that roster now around those two.
Def "get your popcorn" time.
Best off-season of any sport is about to hit it's stride.

Yes, LOL. The NBA off-season sometimes is more compelling than the regular season. I wish the NFL had more player for player trades instead of draft picks.

this is why i support what Silver is proposing for the nba where they reduce the regular season games played and subtract the meaningless all-star game and add a mid-season tourney.
more meaningful basketball less mundane games where people are resting stars.
nba playoffs and of-season are special, regular season can be really blah.
20+ games of 10+ teams full on tanking is not much fun to watch.

I support it, but I think the prize has to be something worth it to the teams, probably not just some meaningless cup. I like the idea of cutting the regular season down, and once all the playoff seeding has been determined, then a tournament for all the eliminated teams for draft position.

money, and a trophy is def enough to get guys competing.
could even invite top euro teams to compete.

I wouldn't call Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love bums.
the last 1 all-star team to win a title was the mavs in 2011.
that may never happen again given the current player movement climate.
talent groups up now.

def should make some rules adjustments. home town max shouldn't just be about an extra year but about a real yearly increase to.
if guys are going to leave you'd at least like to see sign and trades completed.
likely need to be creative with solutions but i do like the forementioned mid season tourney.

they've never really nixed it.
the only deal they denied was CP3 and that was because it was a league run team meaning lotsa votes and conflicts of interest.
in free agency these guys can do whatever they want and these guys are coming form an aau background of all playing together.

U sure? I'm an old fert and only a casual BBall fan, but I'm pretty sure I remember the NBA puttin' the kibosh on some proposed trades.

btw, what if NBA had lost FA draft pick comp?
slot extra picks at end of the lottery if an R1 value and top of round 2 or bottom of round 2 depending upon player lost formula.

teams might hold superstars an extra year as opposed to taking 30 cents on the dollar to trade them if a top 20 pick was GTD return.
better scouting/drafting would be rewarded more than it is now.

Decent idea, would certainly help small market teams, but, how do you differentiate between 2 guys who get max contracts? What pick does GSW get for Durant vs TOR for Kawhi? Max contracts make any implementation of this far to arbitrary
