Yep, Another year with Zeke and another distraction. I hope they stick to the fines to that greedy b@****. He needs to be on the field learning the new offense. This immature clownish crap has me pissed. I wished the dang players wanted to play. Is that too much to ask? Draw the line in the sand and "say when". Zeke will cave in first, The clown will be suspended for doing dumb crap in Cabo, He has already shown he can't control himself being rich.

I am excited about the new OC and this crap happens. I hope someone kicks sand into Zeke's Piña colada. The man has two lawsuits against him, been suspended and has made more money than the dang starting QB. It is easy to tell who is a good teammate. I would back the Brinks truck up and pay the good teammates first. Jones, Brown, Cooper, Dak and everyone else that want to win. I would pay everyone except Zeke.

Spoiled millennial, I wished he had to work like I have for the past 50 years. He has more dang money now than he can ever spend. He should have to work like us common folk.
My number 1 issue with Zeke holding out is because of his behavior. Has it been the worst? No, but it's been an issue. The DV crap that went down. Something happened. He shouldn't have been suspended but he was and you can make the case it cost that team. The St. Patty's day incident, the bar fight in July 2017, the concert, and now this crash. It just adds up. Jerry Jones has had Zeke's back. He has zero leverage. If Zeke was a choir boy then I would totally understand him holding out to make a point. But he doesn't have one. I'm with you, shut up and play. Show up to camp and get ready. This team has a chance to be special (coaching will probably ruin this). Fair or unfair he has TWO years left. Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, and Byron Jones have one. They need to sign those guys first. I think Zeke will show up next Tuesday with no deal. I think he is doing this because his agent is pushing him to and it's to try and prove a point-make me a priority or this will happen next year and it will get ugly. I don't blame Jerry for being upset. I get Zeke wanting to make money but he really should have thought of this before he was getting drunk and stupid.

Camp is barely a week old and once again drama dominates the headlines for the Cowboys. Yeah, this is our year - Super Bowl or bust!

My money is on "bust", again. It's an odd-numbered year, isn't it?
Whether they say it or not, it's a distraction to this team. I'm already sick and tired of hearing about him. As more time goes on I'm more and more okay with saying screw it and get a back like Nick Chubb or Derrick Henry to replace Zeke. Zeke is a generational talent but he shouldn't get paid a ton because of his off the field garbage (yes, it's not a lot but it's still been a headache to this team) AND look what just happened to the Rams with Gurley. They set the market with him and he gets hurt.

Now that Michael Thomas signed, I think we are about to see some action.
  • I think Amari Cooper will get the first deal. His agent was at camp and had dinner with management. They probably wanted to see what Thomas got. Julio doesn't really matter to Amari's deal. I don't think Amari will get a bigger deal than either of them. It will probably be around Odell Beckham Jr's 18 million a year. He can make the case that I saved your 2018 season and Dallas invested a 1st on him. Think this gets done in the next two weeks.
  • Dak Prescott will sign a deal before September 8. I cannot imagine him going into the season with no new deal. If he does-Dallas really low-balled him and that tells me they don't have that much faith he is the QB of the future. I think his deal will be around Carson's, probably more. Dak would be risking a lot if he does into the regular season with one year left. Yes, he could ball out and be an MVP candidate. OR, he could regress like 2017 or he could get hurt. It's really dumb Dallas has to decide after 3 years if they have their QB or not. NFL needs to make it 5 years for a QB no matter the round.
  • Ezekiel Elliott will show up on August 6th. He is going to have to play. He needs to stay out of trouble. This one is really interesting. Dallas has him until after the 2020 season. I think Dallas wants to keep Zeke but for the right price. They don't want to pay him Gurley money. a) off the field issues and b) that 's too much for a RB who is an injury away from never being the same. I think Zeke is going to have to come down. It will all depend on how much he loves Dallas. If he hits the open market he gets more than Gurley money. I do think the NFL needs to make it more fair for RB's to get paid. Give them a four year rookie deal so they can have leverage after three years.
  • I think Dallas will franchise Byron in 2020 and Jaylon in 2021. Would love to see Jaylon get a long-term deal after that. I just don't think Byron gets one. Important to note that LVE will want a new deal around 2022, especially if he keeps this play up and stays healthy.
Having all these good players is an awesome thing. But the front office can't afford to overpay any of these guys. I have faith in Stephen getting all this done.

Isn't it funny that Jerry and Stephen love to pretend to be big spenders...but then it's time to pick up the check...

They "don't want to pay Gurley money."

Stephen is LITERALLY on record saying that is the starting point for Zeke's negotiation.

Pay attention please.

Then why did he say we "damn sure" aren't going to be a market setter? He is LITERALLY on record saying that. They want to reset the market and pay him LESS.

YOU pay attention please.

What ever Stephen offered (i think?), but Zeke didn't bite .
it must've been more than the highest paid, and still they said no .

As i understand, Cowboys already made an offer ?

Wow..you really take this crap way too seriously.
We have some posters here that are letting the business of football ruin their enjoyment of the game. It sounds like you are one.

This is just entertainment. You dont seem to be entertained.

Do you rant at everyone in the entertainment industry? You do realize these guys bring in money and they get a piece of what they produce. You may not like it and you prefer the billionaire fossils take all the money and buy more yachts..

"We've got three really good football players that we're dealing with here and that have very good representation. And they want to see the market. We can't push the issue unless we want to be a market-setter. And we're damn sure not going to be a market-setter.”
Get a new deal for Dak and Cooper first.

Zeke and his agent know what's up. Too much drama and 2 years left on his deal.

Yeah but I don't think it would have made him the highest paid. Slater reported they wanted to reset the market and pay him less than Gurley.

So what. Offers are always more years, less money, etc. on initial. Are you of the opinion that players should just jump at that?

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones made that much clear Wednesday when discussing pending extensions for running back Ezekiel Elliott, quarterback Dak Prescott and receiver Amari Cooperon 96.7 KTCK The Ticket (h/t USA Today's Jori Epstein):

"We've got three really good football players that we're dealing with here and that have very good representation. And they want to see the market. We can't push the issue unless we want to be a market-setter. And we're damn sure not going to be a market-setter.”

"We want to be fair. We want our players to feel good about their contract. But at the same time, we don't want to do things that are out of line because we can't afford to be that way."

https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-sure-wont-be-market-setter-for-new-contracts

Priorities:
Pay Amari
Pay Dak
Pay all others needing new contracts (jaylon, Byron, La'el ?)
Pay Zeke (WHO ISNT IN CAMP!)
